《WANDS AND SPELLS | VKOOK ✓》42 | talking it out

Taehyung after Jimin's hundredth request decided to talk to the other. No he didn't forgive him or even declared him innocent, for the sake of his friendship with his childhood friend and his heart partially beating for the other— he is doing that for them.

"This is gonna leave us looking stupid," the brunet said walking ahead, Jimin accompanying him just right beside.

"Time will tell," Jimin replied and the other was just finding it hard to believe how Jimin was so sure about Jungkook not being guilty. He was finding it hard to believe that Jimin was actually defending him even if he thinks Jeongguk is at fault.

They reached the blond's room and Jimin was the one to knock when he saw his bestie stuffing his hands in his pockets.

Jimin stepped behind and let Taehyung be in front.

Jeongguk opened the door with puffy eyes and heavy heart. His boyfriend just ignoring him whole class time and when he tried to talk, he just glared and threatened to complain about him. Taehyung was one step away from humiliating the other in public which was so not right.

"Tae," Jeongguk smiled thinking probably he just realized that he was telling the truth and quickly pulled him in a tight hug.

Taehyung wanted to push him away but the power in those arms around him and the crazy heartbeat against his own skin, he melted then and there however still couldn't coax his mind to hug back.

"Baby, you finally believe me," Jeongguk mumbled pulling away and leaving small kisses on his neck and on his cheeks, smiling so widely.

Oh lord, this is not fake.

This can't be.

Taehyung didn't utter a single word and just stared at the handsome he loved to see.

Jeongguk's eyes tell.

"Jeongguk," Taehyung muttered under his breath and he nodded pulling him inside, Jimin taking the chance and leaving that instant as he wanted them to talk and sort this out, he might just make everything awkward.

Taehyung didn't realize his best friend's departure from there and didn't even noticed that soft sound of the door closing behind. All he understood was Jeongguk was right there smiling at him.

"I knew you would understand." Jeongguk smiled holding onto the older's waist and pulling him close.

"I knew it," he repeated, leaning forward and Taehyung momentarily closed his eyes, thinking they might kiss now, his one half was wanting this but the other half was screaming no.

He was torn in between himself, two sides of himself and he didn't know what to do.

Jeongguk kissed the older's both eyelids and then his forehead, he was about to reach down to place a kiss on Taehyung's lips when he moved away, taking a huge step back.

"You can't kiss me, I am not your boyfriend anymore."

"What do you mean?" Jeongguk asked, totally baffled on what again happened. All his hopes that maybe this sorted out just crumbled into pieces when the brunet looked at him with the same old look.

The eyes didn't hold onto the love, adoration and the care they used, they were right how they were before they started to get to know each other.

From when they were rivals.

"You still are doubting me," he asked in disbelief, shaking his head sideways.

"Taehyung, I will tell you this again, I am not the one you're thinking I am, you're getting a whole wrong scenario. That must have been someone else who wants us apart and unfortunately Taehyung, you're falling for that," Jeongguk said grabbing the other's shoulders.

"You're also saying it's my dad?"

"Good that you know," the younger replied, annoyance slowly building inside of him, this was ridiculous. He knew Taehyung partially believes that he isn't that one however still he is being like this.

"I told you yesterday, I told you today, I am telling you now, THAT. WASN'T. ME." he through gritted teeth said and Taehyung let out a bitter chuckle.

"Prove it."

"What?"

"Prove that it wasn't you, prove that it was someone else, prove that it was my father. If you can, I will believe you." Taehyung said crossing his hands over his chest and the other looked down at their feet.

"You do know that yourself that it wasn't me, you already missed me so much," Jeongguk pointed at Taehyung's feet and he looked down to see how he wore the red socks Jeongguk gave him that night long ago.

The night, Jeongguk's feelings started to get more strong.

"Y'know what I get it, I get that me being your past rival and our dads having beef, you do have the excuse to not believe me but hey, isn't our relationship way more stronger, don't you trust me at all, how can I fake my heartbeat?"

With that Jeongguk took a step ahead and Taehyung took one behind.

"Can I fake my arousal?" Jeongguk was moving ahead and the older was getting back.

"Can I fake it all for you? Were those heartbeats fake? Were those touches all forced? Was all of my concern all just a lie?" Jeongguk bombarded the other with questions as he pushed him against the door and pinned him with both his hands on two sides.

"Jeongguk stop," Taehyung warned resting his palms on his chest and looking right into his eyes, "Just prove me wrong, I want you to prove me wrong because hell, I want to get back to you."

Jeongguk laughed a little, "But even if I prove things somehow, will things between us stay the same?"

"Jeongguk, just prove me wrong." Taehyung tried to avert that question but the other didn't let it slide. He went closer if that was practically possible and when his mouth was just beside Taehyung's right ear, he whispered, "Y'know what? You're just torn between two sides of yourself. One of the half wants to believe that it's not me but if it's not me, then it's your dad and you are not ready to believe that your dad can be involved in this."

"Shut up!"

"I was right. That's what it is but I just really wish you would trust me," Jeongguk walked away, disappointment and frustration building inside once again.

Why was Taehyung making it difficult for them?

No, he wasn't blaming it all on the older one but it's evident he also knows that he believed it wasn't him still something in him held him back and that's what upset Jeongguk.

"What would you do if you were in my shoes?"

"Probably would have acted the same initially but Tae, I would have at least given you a chance to explain yourself. You didn't give me that, you yourself announced me guilty, you didn't want to hear my side as if you have already made up your mind. Whatever it would have been, I would hear you. But unfortunately you didn't give me one fucking chance." Jeongguk looked away, his hands turning into fists and Taehyung just blankly stared at him.

Whatever Jeongguk said was right.

He didn't even try hearing his side and at this point, all this frustration coming from the other was justified and he himself knew the way Jeongguk was acting now wasn't anything wrong.

"Let's talk to your dad." Jeongguk suggested and Taehyung widened his eyes and shook his head no, "What? Are you crazy? You can't accuse him like that! You're in no place to do that!"

"Like you accused me?"

"Jeongguk, it's not the same thing." This wasn't going anywhere. Just them arguing and running in circles. There was nothing kept in this conversation and taking them to nowhere but an abyss, from where there was no coming back.

"Someday when you will understand that it wasn't me, Taehyung. What would you do? Would you get back to me? Say sorry and expect me to say it's okay and happy ever after?" Jeongguk asked in a the most bitter tone he could manage. Quick and stupid analogy but even the black coffee Jeongguk drank can't even relate.

Jeongguk was pissed now. No, he somehow gets the other and why he was doing this but no, he isn't ready to even talk to his father about this and then also expects him to prove it some way? That's silly and so so stupid.

"Let's go at least talk to him? I believe it's him. Who else can it be? Trust me with this and let's go. What's the harm in talking? I promise this is the first and last time we will do something like this, let's just talk to him once." Jeongguk tried again hoping that maybe Taehyung would understand.

"So you can't prove it?"

"You're impossible!" Jeongguk argued back, punching the door behind causing the older to flinch thinking he was about to punch but but hell, Jeongguk can't even imagine to hurt him.

Look, what misunderstandings did to them. What they made them like.

"My phone, you can check it. I didn't call my dad since yesterday. He is out for work. I didn't know about this but he left the phone at home but oh wait you won't trust me so lemme just make it clear—" Jeongguk went and grabbed his phone from his bed.

"I was gonna show it to you but you weren't even picking up my calls and didn't even open the door when I was there, so now that you are here, see this." Jeongguk called his mom and put the call on speaker mode.

"Jeongguk, dear,"

"Hey, mom. Is dad's phone at home?"

"How many times will you ask that? Yes, he left it here. Y'know how your dad is. He doesn't want any disturbance during work," she explained from the other side and Taehyung just widened his eyes and looked up at Jeongguk.

"What happened though?"

"Nothing mom, I will call you later okay, love ya!" he ended the call when his mom laughed and greeted bye.

"What now?" Jeongguk threw the phone on the bed again and anticipated the older's answer, "Do you believe me now?"

"Jeongguk—" Taehyung didn't know how to start this. What did he just do?

"Save it, you don't have to say sorry. I just wish you trusted me a little bit and baby, can you assure that you will never ever accuse me again?"

"Jeongguk, I saw things, I didn't do it without anything," Taehyung said, looking down at his feet, guilt eating his insides and devouring him in whole.

"Now that I think about this, maybe we together wasn't really a good idea because the differences we had were too big to even let us trust each other, maybe we aren't the best ones to make a pair." Jeongguk cupped the other's cheeks and pushed his lips on the brunet's, giving them a firm peck.

He pulled away and smiled once again, his thumb slowly rubbing against his cheek, "I am sorry but Taehyung, you hurt me a lot. All I kept asking for was a chance to talk."

"You wouldn't have believed me if you didn't hear it from my mom, you wouldn't even have asked your father. In that case, you would have rather called me a liar and a facade for your whole life than trying to ask your dad. You are ready to end it all for making yourself believe what you want to believe and that's not how things work."

"What do you mean?"

"We were great until we lasted." he said with teary eyes and Taehyung knew where this was going.

"Get back to your room, I need time to think about all that happened."
