《Water and Ice | Shoto Todoroki》Chapter 43-Microwaves

Giving up was never really an easy thing for me, and this was no exception. So naturally when I woke up in the hospital for the third time this month I said the first thing that came to my mind.
"You have got to be kidding me." I said half angrily and half disappointed.
I sat up on my elbows and looked around the room before groaning and flopping back down on the pillows. I didn't know what had happened after I passed out, but I'm sure Todoroki had won by default. And to think I had come that close to winning the UA Sports Festival. The nurse came in.
"I see you're awake! How wonderful. You took quite a beating out there." She said.
"When can I leave?" I asked.
"You should be able to leave this afternoon, there doesn't seem to be anything else wrong." She responded.
"How long have I been unconscious?" I asked.
"Only overnight." She answered.
I nodded and the nurse checked my vitals before leaving. I sighed and stared at the ceiling.
It was just my luck to get caught up in some strange disease that seemingly got activated randomly. It hadn't even been that long since I began attending UA, but so much had happened and I had already changed so much.
I knew how bad villains can actually be, made so many new friends, and for the first time in my life I had a real crush and felt what really liking someone felt like. For a long time I had been in denial, but there was no getting around it. I had even admitted it to Ura and Mina. Every day that went by, I just wanted to be with him. He made me feel like I had never felt before, and it was amazing. He had saved me countless times, and always seemed to care about my safety. I made a promise to myself, I would confess to him by the end of the week. I just couldn't hold these emotions in any longer.

I got back to the dorms and Ura tackled me with a hug as soon as I opened the doors.
"Why do you always manage to hurt yourself?! At this rate you'll be going to the hospital more times than Deku!" She exclaimed.
I shuddered. Izuku practically lived at the hospital or with Recovery Girl and I definitely did not want to be that helpless. I pried her off of me and saw a few other people in the common room too.
"Y/n!" Mina exclaimed as she quickly stood up from the couch.
"What is it now?" I asked.
"Aww don't say it like that! I'm sure you'll like the plan this time!" She said cheerfully.
I sighed.
"Another one?" I asked, tired of all the setups and tricks she had pulled before.
"Don't worry! The other ones were just tests to see if you guys actually liked each other, this time it's the real deal!" She explained.
I could feel the inner evil matchmaker begin to come out of her.
"Please don't. If I do decide to confess to him, I'd rather it be in my own way. Not something forced." I said.
Todoroki suddenly came around the corner. The three of us stared at him. I really hoped he hadn't heard what we were talking about.
"Is something wrong?" He asked, probably unsure of why we were looking at him.
"Nope! Everything's fine! We were just talking about microwaves!" Ura quickly covered.
He looked confused. I was just as confused as him.
"What-" I started to ask.
Ura suddenly elbowed me and gave me a look saying 'just go with it.' I cleared my throat.
"Uh yeah. Microwaves?" I added awkwardly.
Mina nodded in agreement. Todoroki looked completely confused but he just sighed and shrugged. He was probably used to our strange behavior by now.

He passed by without saying anything else, going outside. After I knew he was gone, I spoke again.
"Um...why microwaves?" I asked slowly.
"I saw one in the kitchen!" Ura responded cheerfully.
"It still sounds extremely suspicious." I sighed.
A few moments of awkward silence passed through us again.
"Yeah, I'm just gonna go now..." I slowly backed away from them.
"Ok! See you later!" Mina gave me a smile.
Ura nodded in acknowledgment.
I quickly went up to my room, trying to get away from the awkward situation. I heard them both giggle as I left, probably working on their stupid plan. They were my friends, but that didn't mean they weren't extremely annoying. I just sighed and sat down at my desk.
It was going to be another long week.
