《Water and Ice | Shoto Todoroki》Chapter 41-Power and Peril

I was surprised, and I wasn't expecting an offensive move. But little did he know, I had more tricks up my sleeve. I concentrated, and the ice surrounding me started to evaporate. I freed myself and stepped out of the icy prison he had made. He seemed shocked.
"I can control your ice, Todoroki. I can use your own moves against you. I've trained hard for this and I know you have too. Why won't you just use your fire? Then it would at least be a fair fight. Right now you have no chance of winning, so either give up or give in. I still don't know why you refuse to use your full quirk, and I'm not going to push you to say anything. I'm giving this my all though, and it wouldn't be much of an accomplishment if I beat you while you only used half of your strength." I reasoned.
I didn't really know what caused this sudden outburst, but I said what I had felt for a while now. I was tired of seeing Todoroki be held back by his own ability. He seemed to take a moment to process this, and then he nodded.
"You're right. I always thought using my fire would be proof I was becoming what he wanted me to be, but now it's just become something that holds me back. Looking back, it seems childish. So thank you y/n, I think...I see it now." Todoroki said.
I sighed. I was able to get my point across, finally. I knew this would make the battle much harder, but I was willing to lose if it really meant I'd helped him. We still faced each other, and I saw the fire of ambition burning in his eyes. Now that he was seeing what I had seen for so long, I knew he was ready to make use of all his strength.

He was about to send a column of blazing flames at me, but I couldn't let him get the upper hand. I felt a tug in my gut and a roaring tidal wave formed, heading straight for him. He extinguished his flames and used his ice to make sure he didn't get pushed back. I just turned the ice to more water though, so he used his flames to blast himself forward. The fire was so hot it evaporated all the water around it, which kind of surprised me.
The water didn't do much to him, and I tried to think of another approach. Todoroki didn't waste any time though, and sent more fire at me. I tried to combat it with water, but I could tell it was stronger than any flames he'd sent at me during training.
Now that he was over whatever prevented him from using his fire, he was going all out. The water hadn't worked and the flames were still coming at me rapidly. I put up a wall of ice in an attempt to shield myself, but the fire burned right through it. I had just enough time to roll to the side to dodge the flames.
The heat grazed me, and I felt a painful surge of bad memories. I pushed back all the hate and sadness and focused on the battle. Any time I felt a raise in heat, it always reminded me of the horrible times when I was with the League of Villains. I brushed the thought away and focused on Todoroki again.
That attack was powerful, and it had to have taken some sort of toll on him. He still seemed normal, although I couldn't really tell with all the smoke and the distance between us.
It was worrying that he had barely taken any damage.
