《Water and Ice | Shoto Todoroki》Chapter 25-Loss

The ice shards pierced my skin. I clenched my teeth but didn't give up. Surprisingly, the fact that Bakugo was able to get to me actually made me want to win more.
The explosions stopped and I let my barriers fall.
"Is that all you got? I'm still standing." I provoked him.
He gave an evil smile.
"I knew you were strong, but I didn't think you were this strong. That was a full force explosion, it could've easily killed someone." He chuckled.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
"So you were TRYING to kill me?" I asked.
"No, not really. I knew you would put up protection so I didn't bother holding back. I thought it would injure you though." He responded.
I tried to take a step forward but winced.
"So you are injured, eh?" He smirked.
"By my own ice. Not you." I glared at him, not wanting him to have the satisfaction of being able to hurt me
"And what caused the ice to hurt you like that?" He raised his eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes but didn't respond.
"Do you need to go to Recovery Girl?" Todoroki asked as he came around his own wall of ice.
"No I'm fine. Just give me a second to get the pieces out." I sighed.
They both stood and watched me as I concentrated. The pieces of ice slowly started to fall out as I controlled them to do so. I finished and let them drop to the ground.
"Did you just control that ice?" Todoroki asked.
"Uh, yeah. That's my quirk." I wiped some blood off my face.
"No, I mean...You controlled it, made it float out. Do you create it and control it?" He asked.

"Yes...?" I was kind of confused.
He shook his head.
"Never mind. I'm thinking too much into it." He said.
"No kidding Icyhot. She should know her own quirk." Bakugo spoke up.
I just shrugged.
"Again?" I asked.
They both nodded.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"W-What was that?" I tried to steady my breathing.
"A little something new I learned." Todoroki answered.
I sat down on a log in an attempt to catch my breath.
"Very powerful." I remarked.
I fought back a wave of nausea, slightly disappointed at my defeat. Bakugo stood off to the side.
"Icyhot finally won one." Bakugo commented.
I nodded.
"Nice job." I congratulated him.
Todoroki just nodded in acknowledgment. I checked the time.
"It's getting pretty late, we should head back." I said.
"Where exactly is back?" Todoroki asked.
I looked around and suddenly realized how far we had gone into the forest.
"Uh...let me check." I replied.
I floated up on a cloud. I looked and saw the school not too far away. I came back down.
"It's this way." I pointed in the direction of the school.
They nodded and we started walking back. We reached the school, and spent a few minutes trying to find the dorms.
"Here we are." I said as we found the building.
We went inside and saw a few people hanging out in the common room.
"You guys were gone for a LONG time." Mina said.
I shrugged.
"Where's everyone else?" I asked.
"They're all busy fixing up their dorms. We got back earlier so we already finished." Tsu answered.
I nodded and headed upstairs to my dorm. I went inside and saw my box was set to the side.
"Guess it's time to decorate."
The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic
Molting the Mortal Coil
Reincarnated as a child in a new world a mild mannered programmer, named Sage, finds himself struggling to survive. The road to immortality is paved with danger, treasure, and conflict. This mystical eastern world is filled with Demonic Beasts, Treacherous Cultivators, and Extraordinary Legacies. Follow Sage on his journey to adapt to this new world, and find out if he can overcome the limitations of body, mind, and soul. Will he rise to the occasion and become a hero? Or maybe he'll turn to the dark side and end up a villain? Molting the Mortal Coil is more of a slower paced journey. It's not about endless battles and conquering the next bad guy who spits on the main characters shoes or sends him a funny look. There's also not a treadmill of tournaments or love interests. It's more of a slower burn with lots of, and hopefully not too much, world building. It's still supposed to be stuffed with action, but that won't pick up for a while since we start with a weakling. The first 30 chapters have a lot of time-skipping, but stay with me it gets better. I plan to re-write and add more to the first 30 in the future, but if you can push through I feel it gets much more fun after! Updates will be weekly.
