《Water and Ice | Shoto Todoroki》Chapter 20-Rice and Advice

"You might have won this one, but you won't ever again." I deadpanned.
He raised his eyebrows. My composure cracked and I started laughing.
"It's fine. I didn't know your fire was that strong! I could feel the heat all the way from the other side. You should use it more often, I mean what's the point in holding yourself back? It's better to embrace it and learn how to use it to save people. Isn't that what heroes do?" I asked.
He seemed to think about it for a few minutes.
"I...guess you're right. I never thought about it that way. I just didn't want to see my father get satisfaction from seeing me become a hero with his quirk." He responded.
"Why do you hate your dad so much?" I asked.
He narrowed his eyes.
"Why do you care?" I could almost sense him begin to close up.
"Because I'm worried about you. It seems like you're holding on to something that's preventing you from using your quirk and becoming a good hero. A hero can't keep holding on to stuff like this. You need to put whatever it is behind you and move forward with a new state of mind." I said in an attempt to convince him.
"How do you know so much about this? You're actually giving me...really good advice." He responded, almost suspicious.
I shrugged but smiled.
"Really good advice, huh? If it's that good then you should listen to it." I grinned.
"Let's go again." He brushed off my remark.

We trained for another few hours. Todoroki used his fire more, and I started to find new ways to use my quirk. Before we knew it, it was already time for lunch. We both left to change back into our school uniforms and go to lunch.

"Y/n! Where have you been?" Ura asked as I sat down at the table.
"Um...training like we were supposed to be?" I started eating my rice.
"Really? You must've been training for a long time." She said.
"Yeah. I think I've made a lot of improvement." I responded.
"That's great! I mostly just tried to dodge explosions..." She glared at Bakugo from across the cafeteria.
"Yikes. That's one person you don't want as a partner." I said.
She nodded.
"We're supposed to have an assembly later, I wonder what it's about." Ura said.
"Yeah. I guess we'll find out." I continued to eat.
We both talked a little more and finished our food. We got up and left the cafeteria.
"We've got some time before the assembly. Wanna walk around a little?" Ura asked.
"Sure." I responded.
We left the building and started walking around the campus.
"I still can't get over the fact of how big this place is." I said.
Ura nodded.
"I guess that's what you can expect from the number one school for heroes." She said.
We walked and talked more, speculating about what we would do next in training.
"Hey, look at the time. We'd better get going." Ura suddenly said.
We both hurried back to the school. We went inside again and looked for the auditorium. Once we found it, we went inside and found seats with the rest of our class. A few minutes later the lights dimmed and Principle Nezu went up on stage.
"Good afternoon students, thank you for coming."

The Twelve
In a world marred by the supernatural, Japan suffers from its own fair share of evil and demonic disasters, with generations of shamans known as Onmyoji protecting their homeland from these forces of evil. Capable of wielding magic and using spirits of their own, these shamans were not only skilled in battle, but also divination. However, they were unable to correctly predict Japan's loss in World War Two, and suffered the punishments that followed. Persecuted and torn apart by infighting, the Onmyoji reunited under the banner of the Tsuchimikado clan, descendants of Abe no Seimei, one of the greatest Onmyoji to ever live. The Onmyoji began to rebuild and to regrow. Ren is the sole heir to the Tsuchimikado family, but has been unable to practice Onmyodo ever since his birth, even though he possesses the greatest ability in the family. But when disaster befalls his family, Ren has nobody to turn to, and no idea how to use his powers. As he journeys to escape the same fate his family faced and attempts to learn how to use his powers, there is only one question on his mind; as the Tsuchimikado heir, how can he save the Onmyoji... from themselves? ---------------------------------------------- note from author: I'm writing this based loosely on the very real theories of Onmyodo, and so my writing may not be a truthful or accurate depiction of Onmyodo or other related areas, such as religion, for instance. That is why, while depicted in the real world, events that happen may seem unrealistic and it may be easier to imagine it as a parallel universe that is the same as ours, but with slight differences so that my possible errors will be easier to overlook. Sorry, and thanks!
