《Water and Ice | Shoto Todoroki》Chapter 5-A Secret Paradise

Todoroki had taken me to a deserted park, one that was overgrown and looked like it hadn't been visited in years. And it was beautiful.

For awhile, he had walked in front of me as he led me through the winding trails of the park. But then he realized how prone I was to tripping, falling, and getting hurt. Now he walked behind me, so he could catch me if I tripped over another "misplaced root" or "surprise shrub". After a few more minutes, we came to a small pond.

"Wow." Was all I could say.

Cherry blossom trees were blooming around it, and flower-filled bushes framed the shore. All the fragrances from the plants mixed together into an amazing scent, and all of the different colors made a rainbow of petals and leaves. In other words, it was absolutely stunning.

"I used to come here to get away from home. In fact, I still do." He said.

I saw some frost still melting off one of the bushes, a testament of him having been there previously.

"This is just...so...amazing." I said as I turned in a full circle.

I turned back towards him and I think I caught a glimpse of the last traces of a smile.

"How can you expect me to train here? I don't wanna mess up this place." I told him.

He sat down near the pond.

"You don't have to if you don't want to." He said.

"Well what else am I gonna do?" I asked as I sat down next to him.

He shrugged. I stared at the water and got lost in thought. I started thinking about my quirk, and UA, and how much I wanted to become a hero, and then...Todoroki. I honestly didn't know what to feel. I barely knew him, but it felt like I'd known him my whole life. It almost feels natural to be around him, like I don't have to worry about anything and I can just be myself.

"Um, y/n?" Todoroki brought me out of my thoughts.

"Hmm?"

I looked over at the pond and realized I had made a water heart that was now suspended above the rest of the water. I felt my face redden and I immediately made it collapsed back into the pond. I guess I had done it without even realizing it.

Luckily, Todoroki didn't say anything. It looked like he was now staring at the water and having his own thoughts.

I got bored and decided it would be fun to float, so I conjured up a cloud and started to float up on it. I could tell Todoroki was a little surprised but he didn't say anything. I set down on a branch of one of the cherry blossom trees.

"I really love cherry blossoms." Todoroki said, breaking the long silence.

"Why is that?" I asked while playing with one of the buds.

"They're rare and beautiful. You don't always get to see their beauty, but when you do, it makes it even more special."

"Hmm. Very sentimental." I commented.

He stood up.

"We should probably start to head back, it's getting kind of late." He said.

I didn't even realize the sun had started going below the horizon. I nodded and hopped down.

We walked back in a comfortable silence.

"Maybe you can give me some actual training tomorrow?" I suggested.

"Maybe."
