《Friends with the Football Team》29~ First Day of School

That week passed by like seconds. I didn't want it to end, but sadly it had to. All good things come to an end, right?

On the bright side, I get to see my boyfriend and best friends more than a couple days of the week. My best friend and brother are in my grade and we have a ton of classes together. I even have some classes with Lena and Will.

"Come on Cora, we have to get to school." Will rubbed my back.

I groaned and flipped over.

"Come on snowflake" He urged me and sat on my bed.

"Do I get cuddles first?" I asked, like a little kid with puppy dog eyes and a cute pout.

He rolled his eyes playfully but laid down next to me anyway. I spent no time climbing on top of him and laying my head on his chest. He wrapped his arms around my torso and his hands laid on my back, rubbing it soothingly. Every now and then he would kiss my forehead and rest his head back on mine.

It took all I could to not fall back asleep. The beat of his heart mesmerized me and I was at peace. He was my peace.

"As much as I love this, Coco, you really need to get ready for school. I just happen to know that your outfit is the cutest and you need to show it off to everyone."

"No" I pouted and clung tighter to him.

"No kisses until you get up and get ready," He said.

I jumped up in protest and quickly grabbed my clothes that I put out last night. Will might have helped me pick it out. It was a blue plaid mini skirt and a thin, white long sleeve shirt. I paired it with my white air force 1's.

I pushed him out of my room and changed out of his sweats, that I stole, and into actual clothes. I quickly went to the bathroom and put on some mascara and blush. I brushed my teeth and hair. I french braided the top half of my hair into two braids. After one last look in the mirror, I hopped downstairs for my kiss. Bandy followed at my feet.

What? Motivation is motivation.

I saw Will and jumped on his back, with the help of the couch. He was caught off guard but caught me anyway. I kissed his cheek.

"See, that wasn't that bad was it?" He laughed.

"It was terrible," I pouted. He sat me on the counter before he turned around and stood between my legs. His hands were on either side of me. I was a little bit taller than him now. "Do I get what I was promised?" I asked and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Oh you mean this?" He asked before he kissed me.

I kissed him back happily.

"Okay, okay, break it up" Dad said as he walked into the kitchen covering his eyes with a smile on his face. Bandit went over to him for attention, which he got.

Will and I broke apart, and I looked at Dad with a sheepish smile.

"Good morning sir" Will sucked up to my dad, while he scratched the back of his head. His smile matched mine.

"Yeah yeah, I can still make you run, you know?" He waved him off.

"Noted" Will cleared his throat.

I opened and closed my hands, gesturing like a little kid wanting to be picked up. He picked me up and lifted me off the counter.

"So what's for breakfast?" I turned to Dad.

"I'm not cooking. I have to leave right now, I'll cook tomorrow though" He kissed my head. "I'll see you later, okay? Please make sure the boys are up before you leave and feed Bandit. I'm sorry about breakfast"

"Don't worry Coach, I'll take her to get breakfast" Will chimed in.

Dad pointed at Will. "You got him. What do you need me for?" He looked around for his keys. I picked them up off the counter and handed them to him. "Take care of my girl, Will"

"I will, sir" He answered and wrapped his arms around me.

Dad walked out of the door.

"Where were we?" I smirked.

"Right about here" He answered before leaning down to kiss me.

We cut the kiss off at the same time.

"I think we need to wake up your brothers," He whispered.

I groaned. "Those two take forever to get up."

He took my hand and led me upstairs to Carter and Cooper's room. I knocked before going in, not like they could hear me. I turned on the light. I heard the groans of the two boys, meaning they were at least halfway awake. Bandit busted through the door and jumped on their beds. He's always good at waking people up.

"It's the first day of school, boys. You have to wake up." I opened the blinds and the sun was right at their window.

"No," Carter grumbled.

Cooper was up at the reminder of the first day of school. He's so excited to his senior year at the school with him and his football team.

"Yeah let's go!" He cheered and jumped on Carter's bed, like a little kid.

I laughed as Carter pushed him off his bed and tried to cover his face with a blanket.

"Looks like my job here is done. Coop, if he doesn't get up in the next two minutes pour water on him." I smirked. As if it was a miracle, or a little blackmail, Carter jumped up.

"Okay okay, I'm up."

"Me and Will are out of here. Get to school on time or I'm dead, or more accurately you are" I smiled sweetly and grabbed Will's hand.

I led him out of their room and into mine to get my backpack and phone.

"Are you sure we can't skip school and stay here all day?" I stood right in front of Will and pouted.

He cupped both sides of my face and leaned down to be even with my face. "As much as I would absolutely love that, we can't. We both know that your dad would kill me then resurrect me and make me run until I puke and then your brothers would beat me to death."

I laughed knowing that ninety-nine percent of that was correct. "I say we take the risk." I smirked and pulled him down to my bed with me.

We both laughed as he landed on top of me. I bit my lip to try and stop my laughter.

Will groaned. "I really hate when you do that, you know?"

"Do you now?" I smirked.

He nodded. "Oh yeah, you're being all cute and sweet and it's making me want to kiss you."

"Is that so?" I smirked and crashed my lips into his. He kissed me back but not for long.

I pouted when he pulled away.

"I love you, but we have to get to school and breakfast."

Love? He loves me? Do I love him? I've known him for a little over three months. We only started dating two weeks ago. Can you fall in love with someone in only three months? After dating for only two weeks?

I took one look into his amber eyes, perfect smile and cute dimples and immediately knew the answer. I had fallen for this boy and I had fallen hard.

He sat up and got off my bed. "How do you feel about donuts?" He reached his hand out for me to take.

"I think donuts sound amazing" I smiled and took his hand. I fed Bandit and made sure he had fresh water. After I had everything I needed, I left the house. Will opened the door for me as always.

He drove me to the donut shop and bought me donuts. He really was the best boyfriend ever. We ate and sang as Will drove me to school.

He parked the car in the parking lot of the school. A knot formed in the pit of my stomach. Suddenly, I wasn't too excited to go to school or to even see my friends.

What if none of the teachers like me? What if there's assigned seating and I don't get to sit with my friends? What if I get lost or something?

"Hey, it'll be okay." Will said and rested his hand on top of mine. "The first day at a new school is always nerveracking, but you'll have me, the boys, the girls, and your dad all here to have your back. It's Lena's first day too"

Just listening to his voice calmed me. He reached over and gave me a quick kiss before getting out of his truck. He came over to my side and opened the door for me. He took my hand and we walked into school together.

Once I saw the boys all standing in the middle of the hallway talking, my body calmed itself. It was just like any other day at school. I don't know what I was so nervous about.

"Hey guys" I said.

"Coco!" Nick said and hugged me.

"Hey Nick" I laughed.

Will and the guys did the bro hug things. Remi and Lena showed up not long after Will and I did. I of course hugged them immediately and we fell into our own conversation.

"Where are Cooper and Carter?" Cole asked me.

"They should be here soon, they were waking up when Will and I left this morning" I shrugged and answered his question.

The first bell rang and some of us dispersed to go to our classes. Will was one of them.

"Have a good day, snowflake" He kissed my cheek. "I should see you third period in Trig"

"Bye babe, love you" I said without thinking. It was true but it wasn't exactly how I wanted to tell him for the first time.

"Love you too" He smiled and went off into the direction of his first class.

The girls both looked at me with wide eyes and knowing grins.

I looked at them in confusion. "What?" I asked them. I started walking to our first class. Remi and I had our first class together and Lena's was on the way there.

"You and Will just said I love you to each other" Remi pointed out like it hadn't happened just five seconds ago.

"Yeah so what?" I shrugged.

"That's big, Cora. Keep up" Lena said. "When was the first time you said it?"

I stopped. "Uh just then?" I said, but it sounded like more of a question. "Look, I didn't mean for it to slip out, it just did. That doesn't mean I don't love him because I do. He told me he loved me this morning and I really didn't plan to tell him in passing"

They both started squealing and jumping around.

"You two are just so adorable, I can't" Lena gushed.

"I want what you two have" Remi said.

I gave her a knowing look. "You could if you fessed up to my brother"

"I don't know what you're talking about" She denied and continued walking.

Lena gave me a questioning glance. I told her that I'd tell her later.

Lena went off to her class and Remi and I kept going to ours. The school wasn't that big and our classes weren't that far apart. It was already so much smaller than my old school and easier to get from class to class.

"Good morning Remi" The teacher said as we entered the room. "And you are Cora, I presume?" She asked, looking at her roster. I must've been the only new student in this class.

"Yes ma'am" I answered politely.

She nodded at me. "Take a seat wherever you'd like" She told me and I followed Remi to a spot in the middle of the classroom.

The door opened and Tommy walked into the classroom. He waved at us and made his way over. "Hey girls, I didn't know you had this class. We could've walked together." He took the seat behind me.

"Tommy, you weren't even here five minutes ago when we walked down here" I said and Remi laughed.

"I take my time, Coco" He said.

I rolled my eyes playfully at him. "Do you guys have football practice today?" I asked.

"Your dad's the coach, your brothers and boyfriend are on the team and you don't know?" He laughed at the irony.

"Of course I know, Tommy, that's why I'm asking you" I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes playfully at him.

"Yes, Cora, we do have practice today. Are you coming?"

I shrugged. "Thinking about it. Will and I are getting floats after."

The bell rang and we all turned to face the teacher. More students had come in when we were talking with Tommy.

"Hello everyone. Welcome back to school. I'm Mrs. Cook for those of you who don't know me. A little bit about me is I have three girls Katherine, Annabelle, and Madeline. Katherine is enlisted in the military, Annabelle is in vet school, and Madeline is a senior at Baylor university. Cora since you're new, would you like to share something about yourself?" She asked me.

I stood up, though I wasn't sure if she wanted me to or not. "I'm Cora Barnes. I live with my three brothers, my dad, and my dog, Bandit. I moved here at the end of May and my dad is the football coach here" I said.

Tommy whooped at the mention of my dad. I sat back down and some of the other students introduced themselves.

The next four classes went by quick and it was time for lunch. Lena, Remi, and I walked together.

"Cheer signups! Cheer signups!" A girl called with a clipboard in her hand.

"We should try out for cheer together" Lena suggested. "All the boys play football, so it's only fitting we try out for cheer"

We were unsure about it at first but we all decided to try out for the fun of it. The three of us signed up. I saw Summer's name was already on the list.

"Practice is everyday after school this week until five and tryouts are on Friday" the girl told us and handed us all a flyer.

"Thank you" I said as we walked to lunch.

We sat at a table with all the boys. There was barely enough room for all of us at one table. Every seat was filled.

"What's this?" Will asked, referring to my cheer flyer.

"Cheer tryouts. Me and the girls are trying out. We thought it'd be fun." I shrugged.

"Good luck" he kissed my cheek.

"Thank you" I smiled and began eating my lunch.
