《Friends with the Football Team》16~ Stargazing

The party was in pretty much full swing by the time we pulled up. The music was blasting and people were dancing. You could smell the alcohol in the air. It was different then most parties I've been to or thrown.
At the parties we've thrown, we usually hang around a bonfire and have an ice cold beer. There are times where we'll have a shot of tequila or something, but there's hardly ever this much alcohol.
"Ay Will!" Some guy calls out obviously drunk and still had a drink in his hand.
"Hey Clay" he did a bro hug with him. "These are my boys Connor, Cooper, and Carter and their sister, Cora."
He looked me up and down. The boys didn't notice it but Will did. He smacked Clay in the chest. I smiled slightly at Will.
Clay left with some other guy on promise of some beer pong.
"Cora, make sure you're around one of us four at all times" Carter ordered.
"We don't want you getting lost or hurt." Connor said.
I stare at my brothers in disbelief. "First of all, I'm almost seventeen and I can take care of myself. Second of all, I'm not dumb enough to go off by myself and I came with y'all why would I leave you."
"Guys she makes a fair point" Will shrugged.
"Thank you." I finally have someone on my side against the boys. "Let's just go and have some fun, okay?"
We walked more into the house and everyone was dancing up against each other in the cramped in the living room made dance floor. I don't ever see myself coming in here tonight and grinding up on someone. It's way out of my comfort zone.
"Ay yo Darren" Coop called out to Darren as he passed us in the hallway next to the kitchen.
Darren turned around to the sound of his name and smile when he saw our small group. He said something to the boys he was hinging with and walked over to us.
"Hey guys, what's up?" He asked. He was a noticeably tipsy but he wasn't drunk.
"Is Sam here?" Coop asked, loudly due to the blasting music in the room over.
I swear those two are usually attached at the hip. There's hardly been a time when I haven't seen the two of them together.
"Nah, he had to babysit the twins while Wanda and Zach went to a party celebrating the pregnancy. I think I saw Cole here and maybe Nick." He shrugged.
The song that was currently playing ended and a new song took over the speakers. Darren's face lit up with excitement and he looked at Cooper. "Dude this is my favorite song" He grabbed Cooper and took him to the cramped dance floor.
I laughed and turned to the remaining bit of our group. "Let's go to the back, maybe it's quieter." I yelled over the music. They all nodded in agreement and we found our way to the backyard.
As I suspected, the backyard was much calmer. There was music playing but it wasn't blasting like it was in the house and people weren't going crazy dancing. It was mainly people talking in groups with drinks in their hands. There was a game of beer pong going on back here, but that was pretty much it.
We found a picnic table and sat there. I sat on the opposite side of Will and Carter sat on the right. Connor sat next to me on the opposite side of the other two.

"Alright, I'm in need of a drink, anyone want anything?" Connor asked.
"Corona" I said.
"I'm good with whatever" Carter shrugged.
He looked at Will expectantly. She shook his head and put his hands up. "I'm good for now, man"
Connor nodded before he headed back into the house to get the drinks. The boys broke into conversation about something. I looked into the sky. It wasn't quite dark yet but the sun has almost completely set. The stars had just come out to play. I loved looking at the sky. It was beautiful almost all of the time.
Connor came back almost ten minutes later with two drinks in hand. Someone followed behind him with more drinks in their hands. It wasn't until they came closer that I saw who it was.
"Look who I found" Connor said as he set the drinks down on the table.
"Lena!" I squealed and hopped up to hug her.
She set the drinks down on the table before wrapping her arms around me.
"Hey Cora and boys" She waved at the other two.
"Hey Lena" They waved at her.
I pulled her down to sit next to me and Connor at on the other side of her.
"So we haven't seen you in a while, how's life?" I asked her. None of us really know what happened in the past between her and Cole or if they made up after the fair.
"It's been good I suppose. I'm trying to get transferred over to your school, but I'm having a difficult time convincing my parents. They don't really know all the details of what happened so they're curious as to why I want to move." She explained.
We don't know all the details either. All I know is that four months ago Cole left her stranded and something bad happened. She was in the hospital for two days. I assumed she was at a party or something and someone from that school hurt her.
"Oh well I really hope you convince them. I would be able to see you more often." Connor nudged his shoulder. She blushed a little bit at his statement.
"Yeah, me too because then we could go to the same school and maybe even have some classes together." I hugged her happily.
We had so much fun at the fair with her the other day and I would love to become better friends with her.
I gasped when I realized something. "I never got your number at the fair"
She gasped at my words and pulled out her phone. She opened her contacts and made a new one before handing me her phone. I did the same thing on mine and gave it to her. We both put our contact information in. We took a picture together to have as a contact picture.
The rest of the night went pretty well. I didn't have another drink which is more than I can say for the boys. They've already had a couple as well as Lena. Will had maybe one drink the whole night.
A slow song came on in the back and Connor took Lena to dance. Some girl asked Carter and her accepted. Will held his hand out to me.
"Wanna dance? I can't have you being the only one not dancing, now can I?" he asked softly.
I nodded. "Of course" I smiled and took his hand. He pulled me away from the picnic table that we claimed as our own since the beginning of the night.

He held me close to him as we swayed to the rhythm of the music. He spun me out and back in at the perfect time in the music.
"Wow you're quite the dancer, Will" I smiled as her spun me back in.
"You're not so bad yourself, snowflake" He smiled.
I looked up at the sky for a second and got distracted. The stars shined bright in the sky next to the crescent moon. I stopped dancing as I looked at the beautiful sight above me.
"I'm sorry" I apologized to Will. "The sky is just so beautiful right now."
My hands were still in his as he took a step closer to me and whispered in my ear. "Follow me"
He gently lead me back through the house and up the stairs.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"You'll see" he smiled at me.
He led me into someones bedroom. I looked at him questioningly. What the hell is going on here?
He must've seen my panic stricken face. "Trust me okay?"
I kept my hand in his as he led me to a window. He opened the window and walked out onto the roof. I stopped at the window. I was weary to climb out of it.
"Hey, it's okay. I've done this a million times" His voice calmed me and made me feel safe.
I climbed through the window and followed Will a couple feet before he sat down. I took his hand and used him to help me sit down.
I looked up at the sky, which I could see much better from here.
"Wow" I said in awe as I looked up at the clear sky.
Will laid back against the roof while I stayed sitting up. I admired the stars in the sky. They were absolutely breathtaking from up here. After a while I laid back on Will's chest.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" I asked quietly.
"Yes it is" He answered.
I turned my head took look at him and he was already looking down at me. A blush formed on my face as I turned back around away from his gaze. We sat in silence for a few more minutes.
"What did you mean by you've done this a million times? Are you and Clay good friends?" I asked curiously.
He shrugged as much as her could with me laying on his chest. "We were really good friends in middle school. We used to come out on the roof sometimes. It was our place of peace. We kind of just grew out of our friendship as the years went on. I joined football and he didn't."
I nodded in understanding. It happens to even the best of friends. Sometimes you just grow out out of relationships.
"Yeah I get that"
We laid there for a few more minutes. The minutes passed but they felt like seconds. I heard my phone buzz and I reluctantly looked at my phone, which pulled me out of the moment I was in. I sat up and read the text message.
"It's Carter" I informed Will. "He wants to know where we went."
Will sat up too. He sighed and ran a hand through his golden locks. "Yeah we should get back"
He went to stand up, but I grabbed him arm. He looked down at me questioningly.
"Thank you, Will" I said genuinely.
His face softened into a sweet smile. "You're welcome, snowflake"
He stood up and helped me crawl back through the window.
"I have to go to the bathroom. Do you know where it is?"
He climbed through the window after me. "Yeah, its the first door to the left after you walk out of the room." He answered me. "I'll wait right outside, okay?" He asked.
I nodded and followed his directions to the bathroom. Thankfully, there wasn't anyone in there. I turned around and locked the door before I did my business and washed my hands. I walked out and true to his word Will stood there waiting on me.
"The boys are waiting." He said.
I took his outreached hand and he led me back through the crowd of people and back to the boys. We reached the backyard and Connor was still talking with Lena. She was laughing at something he said. Carter was sitting at the picnic table with Coop and Darren. Nick and Cole have seemed to join the group as well.
"Hey guys" I said as Will and I approached the table. My hand was still in his.
Carter glared at our connected hands but I didn't care.
"Where have you guys been?" Nick asked. His words were slurred and he was working on yet another drink.
"I had to go to the bathroom and Will showed me where it was. What are you guys doing?" I changed the conversation.
"We're trying to figure out a way to get them home." Carter groaned. "They're all wasted and they don't have a DD"
I shrugged. "Call them an uber"
"None of us have any money. I'm just going to drive them to our house. Cooper will take the rest of you home and I'll drive everyone else" He stood up and grabbed someone's keys of the table.
I grabbed his wrist to stop him. "You can't drive, Carter. You've had too much to drink."
He ripped his arm out of my grip. "I'll be fine Cora. I haven't had that much." He argued.
"You know Dad's rule. Even if you had one sip of alcohol, you aren't allowed to get in the drivers seat. You could get seriously hurt or even killed, Carter."
"Cora, stop. I'll be fine" He argued back.
I grabbed the keys out of his hand. "I haven't had as much as you. I hardly had anything and that was hours ago."
"Cora no" Cooper interjected. "You can't drive"
I turned to cooper with a questioning look. "So you're completely fine with Carter driving right now, but not me, who had one drink at least two hours ago?" I questioned.
"She's right bro. She drank the least out of all of us, besides Cooper. The only other option is to leave them here." Will came to my rescue. "Carter you're in no shape to drive right now."
Carter growled in frustration. He knew that we were right. "Okay, Will go with her and help her with the boys. Connor with come with us and maybe Lena too"
We all nodded in agreement and got everyone out to the cars and on the way to our house. Dad was about to be pissed.

Chronicles of Xod (returning from hiatus)
After a long recovery over a chronic motion sickness issue, I feel I'm ready to return to writing this book. It might be slow at first, but I'm hoping to pick up where I left off. I apologize again for the long hiatus. The pages following are a true account. An account of how I, Josh--a teenage nerd from modern suburbia--ended up in a strange world filled with fantastic magic, bizarre creatures, and terrifying dungeons. Despite the troped-up fantasy feel of the world, this is hardly an ordinary tale. For one, don’t expect a happy ending. With the trials I’ve been through, the horrors I’ve seen and the atrocities I’ve committed, believe me when I tell you, this is not a happy tale filled with friendly rainbow bears or teenage flying unicorns. It’s more likely you’ll finish this book mentally scarred as I will not spare the details of my unfortunate adventures. With the help of my trusted companion Gui, I gain an insight that no one else in the world has. This knowledge allows me to exploit and, for lack of a better term, metagame the system which gave me a clear advantage over its residents. “With great power...,” someone might begin to quote to me. In my defense, I think maybe even you, reader, might have acted similarly with how this reality changed my view of good and evil. This story will be updated regularly on Wednesdays around 6 PM. There will only be about 1000 words per update. The focus is to finish the story before doing any major changes or editing. Please read as if this is a work in progress, not a finished product. Feel free to let me know if you see any error, whether glaring or minor. If you help me out, I'll be sure to add you to a thank you list at the front of the book when it is published. Chronicles of Xod is a first-person fantasy novel that follows the adventures of a young man from Earth. Through unknown circumstances, he finds himself in a fantasy world where life is not all wonders and happy endings. The story takes common fantasy concepts from my favorite video games, books and movies and gives them an adult edge. It also introduces some taboo concepts often glossed over by stories written for broad audiences. The style is meant to be immersive and heavily detailed. The short novel will be written in a way that attempts to bring a sense of realism to an unrealistic genre. Where there are realistic consequences and dangers in a world populated with violent monsters, cruel demons, bloodthirsty undead, and immoral bandits. In this fantasy world, the inhabitants are essentially gender blind as far as sexuality is concerned. There is also more variation amongst male and female physiology. This isn't meant to be any kind of promotion or demotion of social behavior in reality. Just a concept I thought would be an interesting idea to have in a fantasy setting. I highly discourage anyone from reading this material if you are personally concerned with being offended or traumatized. Both violent and sexual content will be graphically detailed. All characters involved in sexual scenes are mature and of the age of consent(18+).
