《Friends with the Football Team》15~ Parent's Night Out

"So wait what's wrong? I thought you really liked Bryce." I asked Remi.
She sighed and flopped down on the couch. "I don't know. He's a great guy. He calls me at least once a day sometimes twice. He buys me flowers and takes me out on dates. He's nice and sweet. I don't know why but I just don't feel the same. I feel distant"
"Well sometimes you just fall out with a person. It's perfectly natural."
"Am I going insane? This guy is literally every girls dream. Good looking, kind, and the perfect gentleman. It's like he's trying too hard and it's hard for me to keep feelings for him. Time just seems to drag on around him." She ranted and put her head in her hands.
I sat down next to her a rubbed her back. "You are not insane. Maybe he's just not the right guy for you. One day you will find one. It just might not be Bryce."
"It's not that, Cora. I've known the guy pretty much my entire life. He's doing everything right and I don't want to be the girl who breaks him." She admitted.
"Then tell him that"
"It's not that simple" She groaned and stood up again.
"Why can't it be? I'm sure he'll understand Rem. Have you met the guy? There's not a single thing that can make him angry or upset."
"That's the problem. I almost want him to be angry at me. I want him to blame everything on me."
I gave her a questionable look. "Rem, why?"
She threw her hands up in exasperation. "I don't know. I guess it's easier for me to think he's angry at me, than for me to think I hurt him"
"Remi, I think you just need to talk to him. Tell him how you feel or just break up with the guy. I know that's not really what you want but it might be what needs to happen" I stood up to stand next to her.
"Yeah I know" She sighed.
"Oh some real deep girl shit is going on in here" Carter said as he walked into the kitchen.
I growled in frustration. "Carter Maverick Barnes"
"Cora Maeve Barnes" He copied me.
We just stood there across the counter and glared at each other.
"Jeez you guys are acting like you're in some old western movie" Remi broke the silence and hopped up on the counter next to me.
I looked up at her with a smile and rolled my eyes playfully at her comment.
"Ha you broke eye contact, I win" He turned around to the cabinets and started pulling stuff out.
"And I thought Coop was childish"
He pulled out cereal and milk. He made himself a bowl of cereal before stuffing a huge spoonful in his mouth.
"Cereal?" Remi asked. "It's like two o'clock"
He shoved another bite in his mouth and shrugged. "Any time is cereal time"
She laughed at him. "I'll take your word for it, I've never had it after breakfast."
"Do you want a bowl?" He asked.
She looked at me as if she was asking my permission if she could have one. I shrugged. "Go for it."

She hopped off the counter and walked around it next to Carter. He handed her a bowl and she began eating the cereal.
"Great now I want cereal" I said and made myself a bowl.
Dad walked in the front door. "What are you doing having a cereal party?" He laughed as he walked over to us. "Oh hey Remi" he waved at her.
"Wow Dad. Favorite daughter over here feeling very ignored" I waved at him.
He rolled his eyes and walked over to me. He wrapped his arms around me dramatically. "I'm so sorry. I promise I didn't forget about you." He dramatized.
I rolled my eyes playfully and pushed him off of me.
"Anyway I have a dinner tonight with Karla and Michael. We're going somewhere in the town over. So you kids are left alone. You can call Will and Kenzie over, but nobody else. You could also go over there. I think Kenzie wanted to do some soccer drills with you, Coco."
I nodded. We'll probably just go over to Will's and chill all night.
"Remi don't worry you can stay" he chuckled at her taken aback face. She was offended that she couldn't come over.
"Don't worry Mr. B I knew I was invited all along" she waved him off.
We all laughed. "All right well I'm going to go for a run then get in the shower."
"Love you dad" I called after him as he headed up to his room to change.
"Love you too Coco" he called back.
Remi and I stayed in the kitchen after we finished our cereal. Carter just stormed off to his room.
He had been doing so much better in terms of getting angry and upset over nothing. Once he got some friends and could use football as an outlet he was fine.
"Well I actually have to go now. I just got called into work. Hailey called in sick and I'm her back up." She hugged me bye.
"Love you" she blew me a kiss.
"Love you too" I blew her one back and giggled.
"Bye boys" she called up to Cooper and Connor who were playing call of duty in the loft.
"Bye Rem" they called back in sync.
"Bye Remi" Carter called from his locked door.
I watched Friends as I waited for time to pass by. I was going to Will's later with the boys to help Kenz with some drills before she does something with Grayson and some friends.
"Coco let's go" Carter called impatiently at my door after he knocked for the fiftieth time.
"I'm coming, I'm coming" I called back.
"Cooper and Connor already left and you're the only one not ready. Let's go"
I came out of my room with everything I needed for tonight. It was just my charger and chapstick and little stuff like that. "Don't get your panties in a twist, I'm ready."
"Great. Let's go." He grumbled and made his way downstairs. I followed him to Cooper's car.
"What crawled up your ass and died?" I mumbled under my breath. Carter glared at me but turned his head straight at the garage door.

The entire ride to Will's was quiet. Carter kept his eyes intently on the road the whole time. I just scrolled through Pinterest until we got to the house.
Kenzie was already outside kicking the ball around and juggling it. I hopped out of the car and joined her.
Once I scored on her, she hugged me.
"Hey Kenz" I smiled and hugged her back.
"It's been too long."
"It's been three days Ken" Will walked out.
"Three days is too long. You need to invite her over more." She stuck her tongue out at her brother.
I laughed at the exchange.
"But then you would steal her from me. Why would I do that?" He pouted.
"Because you love your little sister" she smiled sweetly at him.
"That I do, sis, that I do" he smiled and went back into the house with the boys.
I turned to her. "Do you want to do drills or just play one on one?" I asked.
"Can we just play one on one? I don't really feel like doing drills right now."
"Yeah I agree with you." I laughed. "Drills suck."
We kicked around the ball for a while, but we didn't do much.
"So what's new in the world of Kenzie?" I asked as I made a pathetic attempt at a goal.
She shrugged. "Not much. Mom's getting ready for the baby. Grayson and I have been dating for almost a month. He's scared of Will and his mom is picking me up soon." She laughed at the thought of her boyfriend being scared of her brother.
"Sounds fun, what are you doing?"
"Going to the mall, might go watch a movie" She shrugged as she pushed the ball passed me and scored a point.
"God you guys suck" Will called from the top of the porch.
"Yeah well if we suck so bad, why don't you come down here and show us how it's done." I challenged.
"Okay it's on, you chose teams. Pick one of us."
Kenzie shook her head. "Oh no bro it's four of you against us two." She smirked.
The boys all came down here in hopes of beating us. Their hopes were wrong.
They tried but couldn't even control the ball. It was so easy to take it from them and score. They surrendered right before a black Tahoe pulled into Will's driveway.
"That's Gray. See you boys later. Bye Cora"
Grayson hopped out of the car and met Kenzie in the grass. He gave her a hug which she gladly returned.
Grayson waved awkwardly at the four boys and me standing in the yard. "Hey boys. Hi Will" he swallowed hard when he saw Will staring at him.
"Bye guys we have to go now" Kenzie grabbed Graysons hand and started to drag him away.
"Wait I wanna talk to him" Will took a step but I stopped him.
I smacked him in the chest. "Leave the poor kid alone." I said to him. "Don't worry Grayson, he's joking. You kids have fun." I waved them bye.
"Back before nine" Will called out to Kenzie.
I turned to Will, who could hardly contain his laughter. "Did you see the look on his face?" He laughed.
"William Erickson!" I chastised. "That poor kid. He looked like a ghost" I let out a little laugh against my better judgment.
The boys were already inside undoubtably raiding the kitchen. We followed them inside and made our way down to the basement. I plopped down on the couch as did Will.
The boys found controllers and started to play video games. Will laid his head down in my lap and closed his eyes.
"Are you tired or something?" I joked.
"A little bit" he mumbled.
I absentmindedly began messing with his hair as I watched the boys play their video game. When I stopped, he grabbed my hand and put it back on his head.
"Don't stop" he whispered.
"Okay" I replied.
Carter had won at Call of Duty and they grew bored almost instantly.
"What else can we do?" Cooper pouted.
"Well I heard there's a party at Clay's house tonight. If we wanna go to that. I'm not sure if it's your scene or not." Will shrugged.
"I want to go, but I have to change first. There's no way I'm going to a party dressed like this" I gestured to my outfit.
I looked at the boys for confirmation. I think it sounds fun, but they're usually the ones to decide. Dad doesn't like us around too much alcohol, but he trusts us in a situation like this one.
Coop shrugged. "Sounds fun to me."
I looked to Carter and he nodded.
Connor was thinking. He was the one to make the decision. He was the oldest; therefore, he was the final vote.
"As long as we have a DD and we're responsible drinkers, it's good with me." He shrugged.
I threw my arms around him. "Thank you."
Cooper agreed to be the DD and we drove to our house to get ready.
I put on light denim shorts with light pink embroidered flowers and a light pink cropped tank top to match the flowers. I wore my white air forces. I braided the top half of my hair into two braids. I did minimal makeup just blush, mascara, and a little bit of lipgloss.
"Okay I'm ready" I hopped downstairs in my cute outfit, that I was really proud of.
"Finally you took long enough" Coop groaned as he stood up from the couch.
"I took less than fifteen minutes." I rolled my eyes at him. I looked in the living room to see Connor and Will. "Carter's not even in here yet" I pointed out.
"I know" Coop whined and flopped dramatically back on the couch.
I sat next to Will as I waited for Carter.
"You look pretty" he smiled down at me.
"Thank you" I blushed.
Carter walked down a few seconds later and we all went to the car.
I got stuck between Carter and Will in the back because their legs were too long to sit in the middle. Connor was sitting the the front with Cooper obviously driving.
