《Friends with the Football Team》1~ Greenhill

"Dad, why the hell are we moving six hours away?" Carter complained as the rest of us started packing. Connor and Cooper were in their rooms packing, at least I hoped they were.
"Because Carter, I got a new job and it's six hours away" Dad answered with a slightly raised voice as he was packing up the kitchen.
"Right before my junior year? Why'd you have to take the job? You had a perfectly good one here." Carter argued.
Dad glared at Carter. "This is a good opportunity for our family. You need a little bit of small town in you, all of us do. Trust me you'll make new friends. It's not the end of the world." Dad rolled his eyes and continued packing.
Carter growled in frustration. "I hate this"
"Go pack up your room, Cora and I can finish in here" he pointed down the hallway to the rooms. Carter rolled his eyes and sauntered away angrily.
Dad ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "I'm doing the right thing, right? You're not upset, are you?" He asked me.
I shook my head and walked over to him. I helped put the plates and the bowls in the boxes.
"Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end. Mom told me that before she left. I will never forget it." I smiled. "Change is good for everyone and I think this change will be the most gorgeous one we've seen in a long time." I kissed his cheek and continued to pack up the kitchen with him.
We packed the kitchen in silence for a long time. It wasn't until we were almost done that Dad broke the silence. "Did you finish packing up your room, Coco?"
"Almost, I have a few things lying around but pretty much everything is in boxes."
He nodded. "Can you go check on the boys please? The movers come in two hours."
I nodded and made my way to the bedrooms. I knocked twice on Connor's door before I entered.
All his stuff was packed up in boxes. He was working on putting some clothes in a box.
"Hey Con, are you almost done?" I asked my oldest brother sweetly.
"Just the clothes, did you need my help?" He folded the shirt that was in his hands before he gave me his full attention.
I shook my head at him. "Nope, but the movers are going to be here in two hours. Dad told me to check in on y'all"
"Well I'm ready here. Cooper probably needs help though so I might head in there"
I nodded. "I'm about to go check on him."
I left his room and headed to Cooper's, who is just across the hall. I knocked before I let myself in. He had hardly had anything in the boxes.
"Coop" I whined. "You have two hours before the movers here to get your shit together."
"I don't know where to start, there's just so much stuff" he whined.
"Start on your clothes, that are pretty much all laying on the floor" I groaned. "Connor's coming in here to help after he's done with his room."

Without another word, I left. Cooper is definitely something else.
Carter was the one I was dreading the most. He hates the idea of moving.
I knocked and walked in.
"Go away Cora." He growled as I walked into the room.
"Two hours," was all I said before I left the room in annoyance.
I took a deep breath before heading to my room and packing up what's left of my room.
Four hours later our house was empty.
"Well boys we're off" Dad said and we got in our cars.
Dad was in his car. Connor and I were in his car.
Cooper and Carter were in Cooper's car.
"Are you excited, Coco?" Con asked as he backed out of our old driveway for the last time.
"Yeah, I actually can't wait to start at a new school this year, but I'm glad it's summer"
He chuckled from the driver's seat. "Yeah me too Coco"

I guess there is a perk of living with four boys. Having your you own room and bathroom is one of those perks.
Connor got his own room because he's the oldest. I got mine because I'm the only girl and the youngest. Cooper and Carter had to share, which Carter definitely wasn't too fond of. To be honest, Carter wasn't to fond of any of this moving thing.
We barely got all of our boxes and furniture in before we grew tired from the long drive.
"Hey Dad" I said sweetly as I could when I was this tired and hungry. I hugged him tight and kissed his cheek.
He looked at me with an 'I'm not buying it' expression. "What do you want?" He asked.
"Who said I wanted something?" I batted my eyelashes.
He gave me another look. "Sorry Coco, but I can tell when you're up to something" He laughed lightly.
I sighed. He obviously didn't fall for my sweet act. "I'm hungry and I want pizza"
"I think I saw a Pizzeria not to far from here. What do you say me, you, and the boys go get some?"
A smile spread across my face, showing my dimples. I jumped up in down in excitement.
"Boys, we're going to get pizza, get your asses down here!" Dad called out.
Cooper was the first one downstairs. I don't know how that kid eats as much as he does and stays fit, but I guess I was the same way.
Connor was the next one down. He was on his phone, but ready nonetheless.
"Carter didn't want to come. He locked himself in his room" Connor shrugged. "He said not to bother him and that he's not going to dinner"
Dad ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "All right" He turned to the three of us. "Let's go"
Cooper and I raced out of the house. Connor followed once he realized we were fighting over shotgun.
I ended up getting shotgun while the boys pouted in the back seat like children. Both of them are legally adults. Sometimes I honestly wonder if they got dropped on their heads as babies.
"Pirate's Cove Pizzeria" I read the sign as Dad pulled into the parking lot.

The whole pizzeria was pirate themed. All the servers were wearing pirate costumes.
"Ahoy me hearties, I'm red-beard Remi, how can I help you?" She was a redhead that looked around my age.
"Table for four Please" Dad said to Remi with a smile.
"Of course, just this way matey." We followed her to our table and she got our drink order.
"Oh the shiver me timbers looks pretty good" Dad said as he looked at the menu.
I shook my head at him. "Dad every time we go to a pizza place you always look at all the pizzas and try to pick a new one"
"And every time you end up picking cheese pizza" Connor finished for me.
Cooper put his arm around Dad. "So save us and yourself the trouble and just get a cheese pizza"
"I don't do that every time" He defended himself. He looked down at me. "Do I?" I nodded softly.
He looked at the menu. "Looks like that'll be the Jolly Roger. Are you all good with that?"
We all nodded in agreement.
"Perfect when, red-beard Remi gets back we can tell her" Dad smiled.
The three boys began to talk about football. All of us are very athletic, I don't chose to do any sports, but that doesn't mean I'm not athletic or out of shape. I work out with the boys all the time. I just haven't played any sports that have caught my interest yet and I don't know if I ever will.
"Ahoy again, what can I get started for you?" Remi asked.
"One large jolly roger, please" Dad answered.
"Avast me hearties!" a voice called out from the stage. All the little kids around squealed and ran up to the bottom of the stage. The voice was a man in a pirate costume. "I'm Cap'n Scott Braddock. They call me Black Eyes Braddock. Me ship was just taken over by a group of blimey scallywags. I need your help to take back me ship. Which one of you swashbucklers, are the bravest of them all?" He said in a pirate accent.
All the kids started jumping up and down yelling for the Cap'n to call them out.
"Aye, what about you lass? Are you brave enough to help get me ship back?"
The little girl nodded. She walked up on the stage. She picked out her sword.
"Aye, and what's your name little lass?"
"Suzie" She said.
"You shall be Suzie the Swindler. Are you, Suzie the Swindler, ready to take back me ship?"
"Aye Aye Cap'n!" She said and saluted him.
I laughed sweetly at her. She's so cute.
"Very good." The Cap'n smiled at her. "Avast matey, there they are up ahead" He pointed to two other guys dressed as pirates. They hopped down from the boat they were on.
The two other guys walked up to Suzie and the Cap'n. All the other kids looked at the scene in awe.
"Ah Yellow Teeth Pete, I should've known it was you and your scallywags were up to this"
Yellow Teeth Pete opened up his arms. "Aye, it is I, Yellow Teeth Pete and you're not going to get your ship back"
"This time I have my friend Suzie the Swindler" Cap'n pointed to the little girl.
"Argh" she said.
"Oh no not Suzie the Swindler. I hear she can tame the savage seas with one look and take one hundred men with the snap of a finger." The other men said frightfully.
This made Suzie smile brightly at the thought.
"I'm outta here" he wobbled in his boots. He went to run away but Pete grabbed his arm.
"Spike! We're pirates we don't run from a fight" Pete scolded.
"Oh right"
This made the little kids laugh.
"Charge!" Pete said and the four of them started fighting with the foam swords.
Yellow Teeth Pete and Spike went down.
"Yo-ho-ho! We have won my ship back!"
All the kids cheered, including Suzie. He bent down to Suzie's level.
"Thank you for helping me get my ship back, Matey." He pulled a gold coin out of his pocket. "Here's a gold coin for helping me" He sent Suzie back into he crowd. All the other kids were jealous of her gold coin.
There was a loud noise to the side of the stage. Everyone looked where it was coming from. Pete dragged Spike off the stage while holding his side. Spike sent a little wave in our direction.
I followed his line of sight to see, Remi standing there watching him. She waved back at him with a small smile on her face.
Cap'n Scott clapped his hands and walked to the middle of the stage. "Join me in singing the Pirate Shanty in victory!" He said enthusiastically. Music played over the speakers and all The kids sang with Cap'n Scott as the curtains closed. The kids clapped as did the rest of the restaurant.
I joined in and smiled.
Remi set our pizza down in the middle of the table. "Is he your boyfriend?" I asked her.
"What? Bryce? No, he's just one of my friends. I've known him forever." Her cheeks reddened.
"Uh huh" I said smartly.
"He's not!" She protested and playfully hit my shoulder.
"Okay, okay" I put my hands up in mock surrender. "I'm Cora Barnes,"
"Remi, but you already knew that. Wait Barnes?" She turned to my dad. "Do you happened to be Coach Barnes?" She asked.
He nodded his head with a smile. "Yes that would be me" Dad said slowly.
"Small town word gets around fast," Remi explained. "Anyway, is there anything else I can get you guys? Refill on any drinks?"
I shook my head. "No I don' think so. Thank you, Remi."
"No problem," She said with a smile and walked off.
The rest of dinner the boys and I talked and joked around. The only thing missing is Carter. I wished he liked the idea of moving. I've been in this town for only a few hours and I already fell in love, I just wish he did too.
