《Stuck With Him: Kai Parker》6

Waking up the next morning, I let out a yawn, rubbing my eyes and sitting up in the bed. After talking for hours, Kai and I tried to play chess but I couldn't understand any of the rules so we called it a night.
I yawned again, climbing out the bed and made my way to Kai's room. "Kai." I opened the door but his room was deserted. I raised a brow and went downstairs.
"Malachai?" I repeated louder, but got no answer.
I redid my hair into a ponytail. I sat at the island, flicking through the newspaper, a part of me expecting to see something new.
"Same old. Same old." I muttered, scanning the pages before turning to the next. Yet this time there was an extra page. "What the....." I trailed off reading the article.
"Family massacred in Portland." I read to myself. My eyes widened and I continued to read. "Four found dead and the only one missing was the oldest son......." I paused and felt fear rush through me. "Malachai Parker."
Gasping, I threw the newspaper away from me, noticing my hand shake from what I had just read. "Kai, Kai Parker? Malachai." I blabbered, backing away off the chair and hurrying over to Zeke.
"Shit, shit I need to get out of here."
I realised, while I shoved on my trainers. Throwing Zeke on my back, I opened the door to reveal none other than Kai.
I backed away from him in fear but composed myself. "Hey."
Kai's face went puzzled. "Where are you going?" He wondered, stepping into the house and closing the door behind him. I gulped.
"To get myself some stuff, woman things you wouldn't understand." I lied, playing with my fingers nervous.
He nodded, walking into the kitchen. I bit my lip, backing away especially when he noticed the newspaper on the floor.
"I'll see you in a minute." I called, opening the door and stepping out when Kai grabbed me and pulled me back inside.
I thought, struggling against his hold. His arm secured itself around my waist and his hand covered my mouth.
He chuckled. "Now, now, Ri." He tutted. "Can't have you running off now can we?"
I continued to struggle and decided to stomp hard on his foot. He let go of me in pain because while I was in trainers, he was only in socks.
Panicking, I decided to do the most stereotypical thing to do in that situation.
I ran up the stairs.
And into another room I thought he wouldn't look in. I quietly eased the door shut and I rushed over to the window, prying it open.
"Oh I see how it is Ri." Kai's voice echoed, throughout the house sending a chill down my spine from fear. A smash appeared and I jumped, gasping quietly.
I shook my head to calm myself down, glancing out the window to see how high the drop was. It wasn't high enough to kill me but high enough to hurt.
"Stay with a psycho or stay alone." I debated. "I'm gonna have to go with yours truly." I decided, sitting myself onto the window ledge.
I spotted a tree in about my reach, so I took a chance and hopped onto the tree. Thankfully I made it and practically hugged the tree while set myself down.
My legs dangled and took deep breaths to calm myself. "Come on, Riley." I encouraged. I nodded, pushing forward and let gravity take over.

Unexpectedly, I never felt the ground. I opened my eyes with confusion. "What the......" I looked around, groaning in annoyance. "Aww....shit."
Kai winked. "I knew you were falling for me, Ri." Before I could respond, he chanted something that made everything go black.
++++
"I'm hurt Ri." Kai began, twiddling a knife between his fingers. "I mean we known each other for what? Two years nearly, became great friends."
He paused and ran the knife down my cheek not hard enough to draw blood though. My eyes widened. "And you still want to leave." Kai sat back down in the chair opposite me and chuckled. "We even kissed, not to mention that I wanted you in fact I still do."
I fought against the ropes that he used to tie me to the chair. "Dear Diary." I gasped but it muffled with the rope in my mouth. "So its been a while since I've written here, mainly because I've had no privacy to. Kai is clingy when he wants to be, but I do enjoy another person's company here."
He paused and sent me a smile. "I'm touched." He rested his hand on my thigh. "And don't worry, I appreciate your company too."
His eyes fell back on my diary and I rocked against the chair to loosen the ropes. "But I'm here because I have to confess something that I've had on my chest for a while." Kai's eyebrows rose. "Ooo interesting."
"Kai!" I yelled but it muffled.
"I think I'm falling for Kai." He read, his eyes widening and he smiled. "I knew it."
I groaned, feeling so embarrassed. Kai flipped a few pages backwards. "This one is my favourite, you thought you were a mermaid because you did that trick with the water."
I fused my eyebrows. "Yeah, I saw that little incident Ri." He told me. "You are very special, Ri." I glared and Kai smiled, looking at my diary. "Oh yeah. I've read this thing from time to time."
I thought.
"Dear Diary, jeez Ri you need something more imaginative." I scoffed and he laughed, flipping throughout the diary. "Don't you get bored writing that?" I gave him a look since I couldn't answer and he realised. "Oh yeah." He giggled, taking out the rope from my mouth.
I moved my mouth because it hurt from the rope before I spoke. "It's only for my eyes so it doesn't matter what you think." I said and he scoffed, looking back down at my diary. "Stop reading my diary, Malachai!"
"Now I remember why I gagged you." He muttered, not taking his eyes off my diary. "Maybe I should use something else." I blushed and he just winked. "You can be very annoying but your diary is so entertaining."
I huffed. "Why are you doing this?" Kai looked at me, finally putting down the book. "Kai, it's me. Riley, your friend."
He leaned in, resting his head on his hands. "Because I need you for something and sorry to rain on your parade but I don't like you."
My heart sunk at his comment but I ignored it choosing not to let it bother me. I cleared my throat and sat up straighter. "Then what do you need me for?"
"I need you to help me help you help us escape."
I pulled a confused face. "Huh?"
++++
"So all you have to do is go in there and act like your shopping, but remember." Kai paused and looked at me, holding my chin so I looked at him. "You don't know me and make yourself noticeable, whether you sing or whatever I don't care." I nodded and fixed Zeke on my back.

Kai has explained his plan to me about four times and I didn't know where it was meant to go, but a part of me was curious and wanted to escape.
He also mentioned that he stole magic from some knife somewhere and with that magic, bound me to Mystic Falls so I couldn't escape.
I thought.
"Yes I know. Now let me go." I said, nodding down to his hand that held my arm. Kai rolled his eyes but dropped my arm.
He cupped my face in his hands. "Don't mess this up now."
I hummed. "Just make sure that you get us home."
"Only if you do this well."
I winked. "Don't underestimate me, Malachai."
Kai smirked, planting a small kiss on my lips before he let go of my face. I blushed, fixing Zeke's straps on my shoulders.
Without saying anything else I left and made my way towards the store. I was anxious, Kai hadn't given me all the details and I didn't even know if I was setting myself up for death.
I reminded myself.
Shaking my head, I stepped inside the shop and strolled down the aisles. "Something, over all the butterflies." I decided to sing because I loved the song so much but didn't know who sung it or most of the words.
"And blah, blah on worst nights. I'm into you." I hummed, collecting a bottle of water. "Let them-"
A hand clasped over my mouth, which muffled my scream and an arm wrapped around my neck making it difficult to breathe. I struggled and fought the person.
I thought.
"Damon, let her go!"
Gasping, I caught my breath as Damon released me. I coughed and crouched over, holding my neck to ease the pain. I lifted up my head and saw two figures, who stood next to me.
It was a guy, a really hot guy if I was honest, and a woman, who was really pretty. "Who are you?" Damon, the guy, demanded.
"What the hell. Hello to you too." I sarcastically said, rolling my eyes as I rested my hands on my knees.
Damon scoffed. "Answer the damn question."
"Riley." I spoke, clearing my throat. I stood up straight. I held onto my throat. "And you hurt my throat." I paused and gasped, shaking my head. "Have you ever heard of a simple wave or something?"
"What did you say your name was?" The woman asked, grabbing Damon's arm before I thought he would attacked me.
I wondered. , .
"Riley, want me to write it down?"
The girl rolled her eyes but concern and relief showed on her face. I rose a brow.
"How'd you get here?" She asked me, stepping in front of Damon.
Shrugging, I picked up another bottle of water before I looked back at them. "I don't know. Can't remember a thing, what about you guys?"
Damon cut in. "We'll be asking the questions here."
I held up my hands in defence. "Hey, just trying to make conversation." He rolled his eyes at me and I took a sip of my water. "Besides, I bet I've been here longer."
The woman pulled a confused face. "What do you mean been here longer?"
Rolling my eyes, I spoke. "I mean I've been stuck here, whatever this is, for about two years now, which I'm guessing is longer than you two."
The exchanged a glance and both seemed speechless. So I decided I'd done my part for Kai and I wanted to return to my bed. "So I'm going to go now but I'll see you later." I awkwardly told them, stepping away when I was stopped.
"Wait!" The woman called. I sighed, turning around with my eyebrows raised. "Stay with us, it must be better than be alone."
I thought but never said.
"I don't want to intrud-"
"Please we insist." She interrupted. Damon, on the other hand, didn't seem a big fan of having me stay.
So I decided to take them upon their offer just to annoy him. "Alright then." I beamed, while we left the store.
++++
"So let me get this straight." I started. I clapped my hands. "This is a prison world. You're a vampire?" I pointed at Damon, who nodded. "And you're a witch that can't do magic?" I pointed at Bonnie. I learned her name.
"Correct." Bonnie replied. I nodded, slowly.
"Wow. This is messed up." I stated, playing the clueless role as Kai wanted. I crossed my legs on the sofa.
Damon tutted. "Feet off the couch."
I held up my hands, dropping my feet down. "I get the feeling that you don't like me, Damon."
He fake smiled. "What give that away?"
I scoffed. "Whatever, I'm sure Bonnie likes me." I flashed her a smile and she chuckled.
"Its nice to have another girl round here." She admitted, earning a glare from Damon and a high five from me.
"Yes, girl power." I laughed. "So tell me Damon, how do you control your hunger?"
Damon rolled his eyes. "Its complicated, Riley." He answered, running his hand through his hair.
"And how were you able to stay in the sunlight earlier?"
He held out his hand, revealing a ring on his finger. It was old fashioned but pretty. "It a daylight ring, helps me stay in the sun without burning alive."
"Cool." I reach over to touch it when he pulled his hand away. He scowled and I shrugged with a yawn. "So I'm going to go to bed now but thanks again for letting me stay with you guys."
Bonnie smiled. "It's fine, Riley."
"Night Damon." I sent him a wave in which he returned a simple nod. "Night Bonnie." She waved back, I walked back upstairs into my new bedroom.
"What the hell, Kai?" I whispered, jumping when I spotted him on my bed. I put my hand over my heart. "Give me a heart attack." I added, closing and locking the door behind me.
Kai chuckled, lifting himself off the bed and walking towards me. I held out my hands to stop him before he got too close. "Don't come any closer." I warned, when he bumped into my hands.
"What's wrong, Ri?" He asked, tilting his head in the cute way he does.
I raised my eyebrows. "Well for starters, you just scared the life out of me by appearing in my room. There is a vampire downstairs, who might hear this whole conversation and I just don't like you."
Kai laughed, moving my hands and taking hold of them while he stepped closer. "I needed to make sure that everything was alright, the room is sealed so no one can hear anything. And I know you love me."
I scoffed. "What is this big plan you have?" I questioned, pushing past him and throwing Zeke on the bed before taking out my pyjamas.
"That's for me to know and you to..." Kai paused, sitting down at the end of the bed. "Never know."
"Well then, I'm won't help you and in fact I might go and tell my new friends who you are." I threatened, taking a seat beside him on the bed.
Kai shook his head. "Now if you ever think to double cross me, believe me I will make you regret it."
"Whatever." I muttered, putting Zeke in the corner. I turned back around and saw Kai had vanished. "What?" I bought my eyebrows together with confusion but shrugged it off.
Changing into my pyjamas I redid my hair into a ponytail. I quickly brushed my teeth, washed and moisturised my face before putting my things anyway.
Yawning, I rubbed my eyes while I climbed into the bed. "You have a nice body, Ri." Kai suddenly said, appearing next to me.
I screamed, backing away from him and fell out the bed causing a loud thump.
"Oh my God! Kai! What the hell?" I yelled, putting my hand over my heart. Kai laughed, sitting up on the bed. I glared, standing up and rubbing my lower back. "I hate you, Malachai."
"Aww....you know you love me, Ri. You diary said it all." He said, when he finished laughing.
I rolled my eyes, sitting back on the bed. "Are you going to leave or what?"
"Why do not want to sleep with me again, Ri?" He winked.
I shook my head. "Maybe another time."
"I look forward to that."
"Well then remember to mark your calendar."
"I will do tonight."
"Good."
"Good."
Kai smirked, moving closer to me and cupping my face. "Yes?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Just remember not to mess this up now, Ri." He said, kissing my lips before standing up. "I'll see you later." He kissed my forehead and winked before he climbed out of my window.
I sat there puzzled, but eventually got in my bed. "That was weird." I mumbled, before I drifted into sleep.

The Voice of the World
Jason Elric used to be an ordinary college student living in the heart of San Francisco. He had a part time job, he played online games with friends he got along moderately well with, and he earned reasonably good grades. The worst he really had to worry about in life was turning in his coursework on time and not being late to class. Now, though? Now fighting for his life and running from a horde of giant frogs that want to make him their next meal is just another Tuesday. Thanks to a summoning ritual gone terribly right, Jason has found himself trapped in a world eerily similar to the role playing games games he used to play for fun. Unfortunately for the now ex-college student, everything happening around him is terrifyingly real and if he wants to survive, he’ll have to figure out how to exploit the system for his benefit before it’s too late. The Voice of the World is the first part of what is planned to be a multi-book, Isekai LitRPG story with crafting elements, set in the fantasy world known as Verdania. This is my first time posting online for public consumption, so bear with me as I work to find a style that people like. While I may occasionally write scenes that may deal with heavy concepts, expect this story to be primarily light hearted high fantasy. There will be a lot of common fantasy tropes involved, as this story got its start as a simple practice exercise, rather than any plan to actually post it. However, it’s grown on me, so I felt it’s worth sharing after all. Thus, if you’re looking for more serious/original/unusual stories, you might want to look elsewhere. For the rest of you, feel free to leave suggestions, as well as to point out grammar and spelling mistakes; I’ll do my best to make edits to correct them. I do my own editing currently, and it’s easy to miss things when you know what’s supposed to be there, so such call outs are highly encouraged. Content TLDR: No harems, probably no romance (unless it makes sense for the story later on) (it did, eventually), definitely no sex (keeping this PG-13 or close to it), limited profanity. Does/Will contain mixes of magic and technology (think Warhammer, Final Fantasy); copious amounts of blue tables; race, gender, and sexual equality concepts; crafting sequences; and (slightly, but not overbearingly) strong protagonists. If you don’t like these things, go elsewhere instead of downvoting people for content instead of writing quality. Update Time currently varies, due to personal injury, but the goal is 1/week on Wednesdays, with a possible smaller chapter on weekends if time/health permits.
