《Stuck With Him: Kai Parker》1

My eyes flickered open and I whined when I came face to face with the bright sun. "Ow." I covered my eyes with my hands and I sat up. I rubbed them before moving my hands and blinked until they adjusted to the sunlight.
That's when I thought.
I looked around and realised I was in some town, only it was deserted, not a soul in sight. Puzzled, I stood up brushing off my clothes that were torn and covered in dirt.
"Just perfect." I muttered sarcastically, moving my hair out of my face. "Just amazing."
I began to walk around in search of another human or animal at least. "Hello?" I called out to the empty streets. "Hello is anyone there?"
No response, I sighed. "Guess it's just me." I felt around in my pockets for something to help me remember things but they were empty. I huffed. "Great." I ran my hands through my hair and patted my cheek to think of what to do. My attention fell down to my clothes and I frowned.
"I need some clothes." I peered at my torn jeans and shirt. "Now." I walked around the streets for the nearest shop. I went inside the store in search for everything I would need.
Like food.
Swinging down the aisles on the shopping kart I hummed to myself, to fill the silence that hung throughout. "I'm in the business of misery. Let's take it from the top." I sang to myself.
I couldn't sing to save my life but I enjoyed singing and there was no one around to judge me.
"She's got a body like a ho-" I paused when the sound of something being smashed echoed. Stopping on my tracks, I scanned around me but saw no one there. "Who's there?"
No reply.
I shook my head, clearing it of my now somewhat terrified thoughts. I took a deep breath and began to walk again. "Great, I'm going crazy already."

"This is all a dream." I repeated louder while I pinched my arm. I hissed in pain and rose my voice. "This is all a dream." I hissed in pain again and let out a loud sigh of frustration.
"Its not a dream." I whined, lying down on the sofa. I ran my hands down my face, having no idea what to do anymore.
So far, I had made myself at home in a house. I felt drawn to it and so decided to stay there. I let out a loud sigh while I fiddle with the silver chain that hung around my neck.
I gasped and sat up straight. "What the hell?" I shook my head and slapped myself to focus.
The memory was only faint and it was very blurred so no matter how hard I tried to recall it, I couldn't manage to piece the man's, who was supposedly my lover, face together.
Shaking away that vision, I picked up my black rucksack and made my way upstairs. I still felt a little shaken up but I chose to rather just sleep off the feeling than focus on it. I had already explored the house and so I knew which bedroom I wanted as mine.
Yawning, I entered the master bedroom that was complemented with its own personal bathroom. Chucking my rucksack aside, I ran my finger along the furniture, rubbing the dust between my fingers.
After taking a shower and scrubbing my teeth, I put on my brand new pyjamas that I 'bought'. I retrieved my new hairbrush from my bag and began to brush through my damp hair before I threw it up into a ponytail and climbed into the bed.

I hummed in comfort as I buried myself in pillows and blankets. After a while of shifting around, I found my sleeping position and fell into my dreamland.

I finished off the final word for my diary entry for that day and shut the book. The only logical idea I had was to keep a diary to stop myself from going too mentally unstable.
Swinging my legs, I looked up at the sun that shone down. The weather there was always the same, it's a pleasant summer day. I did enjoy the sunlight but apart of me wished for rain or snow.
I threw my diary and pen back into my backpack, Zeke, (yes I named my bag). I zipped him up before throwing him over my shoulder.
"What to do?" I asked myself, playing with my fingers. I blew out a loud breath and kicked a stone on the pavement.
I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. "Is someone out there?" I yelled when I heard a noise that didn't come from me. It could've been an animal because I hadn't seen any and I had desperately looked for one to keep me company.
Once again there wasn't a response. I groaned, shaking my head. "Must be my imagination." I paused and cursed. "Stop talking to yourself."
I sat on a patch of grass, laying Zeke down on the grass as well. Laying down, I rested my head on Zeke to relax. The sun continued to shine and it felt nice against my skin. I smiled and closed my eyes in comfort.
A few moments later, the ray of sunlight vanished and my eyebrows fused together. I opened my eyes to see a person standing over me.
.
"You don't make a very good window." I told him. "Who are you?"
The person looked down at me, it was a man and I couldn't help but instantly think.
"Oh sorry, where are my manners?" I rolled my eyes and he sat himself opposite me. His lips lifted up into a grin. "My names Kai, Kai Parker, what's yours?"
I pursued my lips together and sat up. I thought. As strange as it might've seemed, I never even spared a thought of my own name.
The guy, Kai, raised a brow. "Is that question too hard for you?"
I narrowed my eyes at him in which he responded with a wink. "My name is..." I paused and pondered in my thoughts. "Riley." I finally said and shrugged. "Riley.....Campbell."
"Nice to meet you." He said and I nodded. "Now may I ask how you got here, Ri?"
I shrugged. "My name is Riley." I corrected him. "Not Ri."
Kai hummed. "Okay Ri."
I just rolled my eyes. "I have no idea of how I got here." I told him. "How did you get here Malachai?" I guessed that his name was short for Malachai.
Kai glared and snapped at me. "Don't call me that."
My eyebrows rose. "Woah, who pissed in your cereal?"
"Who what?" From the look on his face, it was clear that he was truly lost about what I said.
I shook my head. "Never mind." I dismissed and decided to change the topic. "Why are you here?"
Kai smirked, chuckling a little. "I was at the wrong place at the wrong time." I rose a brow but decided not to press on. Instead, I leaned over and touched his face. Kai gave me a look. "Are you okay Ri?"

"Just making sure you're real and not a figment of my imagination, Malachai." I replied, touching his cheek then nose and lips.
He swatted my hand away and suddenly reached over to flick my forehead. I held my head and frowned. "Ow, Malachai."
He scoffed. "Don't call me that, Ri." He said once again. "And there was a bug on your forehead, I was simply flicking it away."
"Liar." I stood up. "There aren't any bugs here." I fixed Zeke on my back and walked away from Kai. Kai also stood and followed me.
"Where are you going, Ri?" He asked me when he caught up.
I just shook my head. "Away from you, Malachai." He nudged me and I stumbled a little but caught myself and pushed him back. I let out a small laugh. "That's rude."
"Don't call me that, Ri." He repeated but I just sent him a smile. "But why are you leaving? You seemed lonely earlier."
Stopping in my tracks, I glanced at him and Kai arched a brow, his smirk still planted on his face. "So you were watching me?" I asked and he nodded. I started to walk faster away. "Now I'm definitely leaving."
Kai laughed. "I was making sure that you weren't crazy even though you talk to yourself a lot." He said but I didn't replied. "Besides Ri, I'm all you have so why walk off and be alone again?"
He had a point but I didn't want to admit it. I finally made it back to my house and while I strolled inside, I took off Zeke and threw him on the sofa.
Kai looked around and continued to follow me. "So do tell me Ri, how you got here?"
"I already said, I don't know Malachai." I smiled as he glared since I used his full name. I sat down on the sofa and he sat in a chair opposite me. "I can't remember a thing, one minute I was in London, the next here and now stuck with you."
Kai hummed, leaning in forward and resting his head in his hands. "Oh you're English." He said, I hummed with a small nod. "That's cool."
"Yeah, very." I sarcastically replied. "So what's it like being here for you?"
He shrugged. "Boring, But then again you can't expect much when you're repeating the same day over and over again."
My eyes widened. "What-"
"Not to mention, nobody is around." Kai grinned. "Well, besides you. But when time just has to be frozen, it does make me miss snow yet I enjoy that I still have my good looks."
My eyebrows practically touched my hairline and Kai just chuckled. "What the hell? What does that mean? Where are we?"
Kai folded his arms. "Isn't it obvious?" I had no idea what he was talking about. He sighed. "We're stuck in a prison world."
I frowned. "Prison what?"
"A prison world." Kai repeated with a shrug. "You know a prison made for one specific person. A witch must have put you in here." Kai arched a brow. "Or maybe you're a figment if my imagination." He uttered to himself.
I nearly chocked on my own spit. "A witch?"
"A witch." Kai said, sounding tired of my endless questions. "I mean you're looking right at one."
"Okay..." I drew out and rose up to my feet. "You seem a more insane than me Malachai." I backed away, picking up Zeke in my process. "So, I'm just going to go but it was nice meeting you."
Turning around I went to the door when I felt a strong arm wrap around my waist, pulling me back. "Don't leave, we were having fun." His voice in my ear made me shudder.
"I'll have to pass on the lovely offer, but maybe another time." I struggled against his grip but he tightened it and he was stronger.
"Bye, bye, Ri." Before I got the chance to respond, Kai injected something into my neck making everything black.
++++
"Ri, Ri, Ri, Ri, Ri." Someone said, poking my cheek. I groaned, opening my eyes and groaned again when I saw it was Kai. He grinned. "Finally you're awake."
I looked around and noticed I was tied to a chair and the ropes had a horrible smell to them. I stretched my neck and blinked a few times to adjust my eyes to light. "What did you do to me?"
Kai tilted his head to the right slightly. "You wouldn't stay, so I made you." He confessed, biting his lip in a cute way.
I thought. . I rolled my eyes at myself. .
"What did you put on these ropes, they reek." I cringed, searching for Zeke but I couldn't find him. "And where's Ze-my bag?"
Kai pointed at the sofa where Zeke was. "Okay, so you're not a vampire."
"Vampire, what is wrong with you?"
"At least I can remember my own name." He snapped and I frowned. "I'm not stupid, it's obvious Riley isn't your name."
I scoffed. "Mind your business Malachai." I spat and he glared.
"Whatever. I'm going to untie you now but only because I want pancakes." He said, while cutting my ropes loose.
I held my sore wrists, rubbing them to ease the pain. "Make your own pancakes."
"No, I hurt my ankle." Kai held his 'injured' ankle and pouted.
Scoffing, I shook my head. "And my ears hurt from listening to your bullshit but I'm not complaining." I spat, waving my hand. "Do it yourself, Malachai."
The look on Kai's face went dark. I gulped and he lifted his hand up, quietly whispering under his breath. "What are y-" I stopped speaking, when a sudden wave of tortuous pain went through my head.
I gasped in shock, dropping down to my knees. "Mal-Kai." I spoke, my eyes flooding with tears. His gaze locked with mine, no emotion on his face. "What....." I took a deep breath. "What are you doing to me?"
"This is suppose to hurt you a lot more." Kai looked confused.
The room begun to spin and my hands clawed at my hair. It felt as if my head was being torn open. I almost passed out from the pain, when the pain suddenly went. I let out a deep breath and looked back at Kai.
He flashed me a toothy grin. "Please hurry with the pancakes, Ri. I'm starving."
"How did you do that?" I whispered, trying to regain my senses.
Kai shook his head. "Magic, I am a witch after all."
"You're nothing but a prick." I mumbled, standing up and leaving the room to the kitchen. I held onto the wall, my legs shaking and head spinning.
"I heard that."
I scoffed. "I don't care."
In the kitchen, I washed my hands and tied up my hair into a ponytail. "How old are you?" I jumped at the sound of Kai's voice.
Turning around, I saw him on sitting at the island with a newspaper. "I think I'm eighteen, I found a piece of paper that said eighteen in my shoe when I first got here."
Kai nodded. "Always had a thing for younger girls." I blushed a little.
"How old are you?"
"I'm......" He paused and counted his fingers. "Forty, I think lost track after twenty five." He rested his head on his hands.
"That's explains the wrinkles on your face." I teased. Kai glared and I smiled, getting out the ingredients.
As I started to make the pancakes, I felt Kai's stare on me. "What are you looking at?" I asked, looking back at him.
Kai shrugged. "You, because you're pretty." I blushed at his comment, hiding my face by looking down. I heard him laugh while I continued to make the pancakes.
After a while, I slowly lifted my head back up to him trying to read his face. "I know I'm beautiful, Ri. But staring is just creepy." He smirked, not taking his gaze off the newspaper in his hands.
Rolling my eyes, I went back to making the pancakes with my cheeks red.
++++
"Give me the paper." I stretched over but Kai held the newspaper higher so I couldn't reach. He stuck his tongue out and I shoved him, putting another forkful of pancake into my mouth.
Kai and I formed a strange friendship, I no longer felt nervous or afraid that he'll murder me. In fact, I actually grew to like annoying him.
"No." He spat out food as he spoke and it landed on my leg. My jaw dropped and Kai laughed.
Slapping his arm, I flicked off the food onto the floor. "Gross." I muttered. "Now, hand me the newspaper." Kai sighed but slid the newspaper over to me.
I thanked him, looking back at the crossword I was doing.
We had a bet for how long it'd take me to complete the crossword: under a hour I won, over a hour Kai won. It was for who was sleeping in the master bedroom tonight and who was in the guest room.
So far I wasted thirty minutes and completed two lines. Kai insisted to help me but that meant I had to hand over my pancake to him. "Just give up already."
I shook my head, taking a bite from my pancake and chewing slowly. I let out a moan in delight rub it in Kai's face that I still had some left.
"Whatever, Ri." He muttered, running his hand down his face. It was quite late at night.
"Riley." I corrected. "It's Riley."
"Or is it?" I scoffed and he chuckled. Kai tapped his fingers on the counter while I focused on the crossword but it was difficult with his tapping.
"Can you not?" I snapped, Kai glanced over with annoying yet slightly cute smirk.
"Can you not what?" I rolled my eyes, shoving my plate in his direction. "Giving in already, Ri? I expected more of you." He laughed, throwing on a huge chunk of jam to the pancake before eating it with his hands.
I cringed and he winked, doing it again. "You're disgusting." I said. "I hate jam."
Kai gave me a shocked look. "What is wrong with you, Ri?"
I stood up to refill my drink. When I came back I saw Kai had ate the whole pancake and completed the crossword. "Show off." I mumbled, sitting back down.
"I'm just smarter than you Ri." Kai smirked, eating jam from the jar using his fingers. I cringed and looked away from him.
"You're such a child, Malachai." I stated, he glared. "Oh my mistake Kai." I corrected with sarcasm and he rolled his eyes.
"Sometimes I just want to kill you, Ri." I raised my eyebrows and Kai licked his fingers. "But then I'd have no one to make pancakes for me."
"I'm touched."
"I can touch you Ri."
I scoffed, kicking his shin and he kicked me back harder. I hissed in pain, holding my shin. "Can you even die here?" I asked. He shook his head and I huffed. "Great."
Kai winked, continuing to lick jam off his fingers. "Guess you're stuck with me, Ri."
I fake smiled. "Oh the joys."
And that ladies and gentleman was the day I met the one and only Kai Parker.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
