《Soulmates (Damian x Reader)》Chapter 6

As we all made it into the safe house things were still quiet between me and Damian but everyone else was still chatting away while I snuck away from them all and went to look around. It seemed there were only 5 rooms which made me groan on the inside 'i'll just sleep out in the living room' I heard a few doors close before I looked at the clock to realize it was almost midnight so I sighed and started for the living room seeing Micheal setting up in the living room. I smiled a little "there is a spare room ya know" he turned to me and smiled a little "that's your room" I rolled my eyes "no it's not, you can have it i'll take the couch" he frowned for a bit "are you sure Y/N" I chuckled and pointed out of the room.
He packed up his stuff and left with a small wave so I sighed looking around at the empty yet clean safe house 'it looked a lot like my old-' I shut down that thinking. It was coming close to that anniversary and I was starting to get a little my prickly on the edges.
Not letting anyone in or get to close and I noticed that I need to stop letting Damian break his way in but.. The boy always finds a way back through his already digged holes he's made in my walls. I consider letting him him, but to get hurt by him...would break me. Even more than I already am.
I decided to get some sleep to be ready for tomorrow before I heard something up stairs so I snuck up seeing Ashley in her room but the door cracked open and laughter coming from her and Zak who was in there with her making me smile 'she deserves to be happy' I smiled before heading back down.
I was stopped by a quiet voice call my name, I turned back to see Damian so I sighed my smile going away "yes Damian" he looked concerned "aren't you going to sleep" I chuckled "yes downstairs" he grabbed my hand and gently pulled me so I followed behind him "where are you taking me Damian, i'm very tired" he finally lead me to his room so I sighed as he sat me down in one of the chairs in the corner of his room.
I shook my head "oh come on Y/N what's wrong" I looked away as it stayed silent in the room for a minute before he spoke up "will you at least tell me one thing about yourself, just one thing something personal" I looked at him he had a small hopeful smile on his face "i'm sorry" he sighed "one day" I put my head down and got up to go back downstairs.

I felt his hand lightly grab mine "do you want to stay in my room I don't feel good about you sleeping on the couch" I turned back to him and gave his hand a light squeeze "i'll be fine....but thank you Damian" he smiled at me "if you change your mind you know where to find me" I nod and left for the kitchen to calm myself before I head to sleep but i noticed that while there was food there was nothing good or for breakfast in the morning so I sighed and headed back to the couch. I need some sleep if i'm gonna go get food in the morning.
Once the sun was still down I got up and got ready to go get some food but on my way there I saw a guy trying to protect his family from getting robbed which I shook my head at but I pulled the hood up on my sweat jacket and took the robbers down.
When they were all on the ground groaning I saw the dad call the cops and the mom was comforting her daughter until she looked at me and they both walked over to me "thank you so much, but may I ask where are your parents" I kept looking down and walked out of the alley way but not before a little wave a my wrist and a little red shadow flying over the family and the robbers. I walked out of the alley way and continued my way to the store.
As I saw most of them were closed but I found one supermarket that was open 24 hours so I went through the store grabbing what we all might need to stay here for whatever time frame we were looking at.On my way through the store I ran into someone making us both fall back and we both started apologizing but as soon as I see his face I freeze for a bit but then get into a character.
'Bryan' I know the way he looked at me when he finally saw the full me. The smirk on his face just made me disgusted all over again bringing back memories that I buried a long time ago.
I apologize real quick and walked away, well tried to "wait" I turned back to him "can I have your number and maybe apologize more thoughtfully" I put on a worried face "sorry I really have to go" I quickly walk away that time and going through self checkout fast I had pickpocketed someone earlier in the sore so I could pay for this.

I slowly made my way back to headquarters, just taking my time exploring the city and sitting on roof tops from time to time. I didn't make it back till morning it was about 6:30 when I made it back I hoped that everyone would still be asleep so I could slip back in but one person was up.
As soon as I walked in to the living room Damian was pacing back and forth until he saw me come in and he sighed in relief "where were you" my memories came back "I went to the store to get some stuff for the safe house" he walked closer to me taking the bag from my hands and setting it down "what was that flicker".
I kept a straight face "what flicker" he frowned "come on Y/N will you at least confined in me a little, I saw that flicker of sadness in your eyes" I purse my lips "it was just memories, is that good enough" his frown was still on his face "about" I sigh "my past, that's all i'm saying Damian" he took both my hands "I don't understand why you won't tell me, i'm not trying to push you I want it to come naturally but you don't seem to be opening up any time soon".
"I have never confined in someone, never told someone about me or my past" he gave my hands a little squeeze "that's a lonely path to walk Y/N, but you don't have to anymore, i'm your friend" I stay quiet for a min "for now you may be but at some point everyone seems to leave me behind" his mouth parted a split second before closing again.
"How could anyone leave you behind, your so kind and amazing company" I pull his hand over to my couch and sit him down with me i'm going to say one last thing and after that no more of this conversation he nodded "the reason everyone i've known has left me is because they find out who I really am under this mask, under the mask i've been wearing since I was a little girl, I don't trust anyone anymore.... But yes you have proved that you want to be friends but I.. I have never had a true friend before Damian".
I breathed out "My life is not something you want to get to deep in, you seem like such a sweet guy Damian and you care for your friends but I don't want to ruin that by dragging you into my life.. which is why I push you away so much"
His frown stayed on his face until I felt his arms around me I gasped out of shock as he embraced me "I really want you to be my friend Y/N, i'm not going anywhere you can keep pushing" he pulled away but took my hands "but you are not pushing me away" I let a little smile come to my face and I pulled him back into our hug laying my head on his shoulder "thank you Damian" we both pulled away after hearing footsteps coming down the stairs so I got up "i'll make breakfast" he smirked "still don't know how your such a great cook" I chuckled as I walked into the kitchen.
After breakfast was done we all got our gear and head out to patrol the city for a while looking for our guy. When we finally picked up on his trail it was about almost noon, we found him in an old rundown building so we spread out. Me and Damian haven't spoken since breakfast since his friend wanted to be paired with me and learn a few things, as we all snuck in the building and found our guy in a room with two guards while he was on a phone conversation.
I singled to Brittney to go on in so she nodded and I locked eyes with Damian he gave me a small smirk which I smirked back at mouthing 'let's do this'. On cue Britt cut the light and we all fled in the room taking out the guards and then we turned the lights back on so out mystery man could see our faces "we've been looking for you".
We all made it back to the safe house with Herro tied up apparently herro was his code name but i'm sure Ra's will know his real name. Everyone riled down after celebrating but of course me and Damian sat out on that part, but once everyone went to bed and I was making my to the roof I was stopped "so where are you going now" I turned to see Damian so I rolled my eyes "i wasn't going to go anywhere since our flight is tomorrow I figured I would go sit on the roof and admire the city" he smiled and grabbed his coat "can I join you" I chuckled as he walked past me "did I have a choice".

Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw

The Garbage Man
2021/10/20 - Taking this down for a complete rewrite. I like the plot but the writing on the first attempt is... Garbage :/ Jack was just waiting for the storm to pass. It wouldn't. What it did was take him on the journey of a lifetime. A lot of lifetimes, in fact. This is a cultivation/wuxia story at its core. May contain young masters, martial arts and magic. * 14/08/2020 - Rough editing done on the published chapters, hooray! Now to resume normal - edited! - releases.
