《Metanoia》Chapter 14

It was like you had been asleep. A dreamless sleep where it only felt like you had only just fallen unconscious and awoke right after. Unaware of the time that had passed. You were beside the couch leaning against it while Bruno and Trish had appeared as well.
"He did it."
Bruno's words made you let out a light laugh and use the couch to help you stand. You scratched the top of your head and looked at the ceiling of the turtle.
"Yeah. Giorno did it."
"Abbacchio, come over to this chair, I've received a message from the boss."
You were sitting on the couch while Narancia's had his head in your lap and held the magazine he was reading above him. He had shot a cheeky look to Abbacchio who scoffed silently.
Bruno's words made him drop the magazine and it fell on his face, he let out a small yell and you silently laughed to yourself. You took the magazine off his face and he pouted. Abbacchio stood up and walked to where Bruno was and shot Narancia a smug smirk which only made Narancia's pout deepen.
"Have Abbacchio's use his moody blues on the chair and rewind 14 hours."
Everyone who was sitting, only you, Narancia, and Trish, stood up and walked to Bruno and Abbacchio. Moody Blues flew out of Abbacchio and stood on the chair and your lips parted as your eyes widened. It was the first time you had seen his stand.
Wow, it's really pretty. I thought it'd be more... dark and less colorful. Then again no one would assume my stand would be a dark horrifying fish.
His Stand turned into a short stout man with white hair who a brown suit. He was leaning against the wall and turned to look at you all. A timer thing similar to a stopwatch on his forehead.
So his stand replays stuff. Interesting.
"Hey, I've seen that old geezer before!"
You stood near the back and watched and listened. You didn't know him but he looked like a nice old man making you smile to yourself.
"I'm about to tell you something of upmost importance that no one else must learn. How you're going to hand Trish over to the boss."
These words made you pause and you could see that everyone else had stopped for a moment as well. Your eyes darted to Trish and your heartbeat got quicker. The mention of the boss and giving Trish to her father made you uneasy.
Right. That was the mission after all. How could I have forgotten... Make sure Trish gets to her dad. To the boss. Follow the boss's orders and complete the mission no matter what.
You bit in the inside of your cheek and looked to the man, your mouth dry and unable to speak. The picture was lit on fire by a silver lighter, not the one Giorno held a few days ago but it reminded you of it.

"I pray from the bottom of my heart you all remain safe."
Your eyes switched to the gun in his hand and your breathing stopped, his finger started to pull back the trigger and you turned around. Your eyes were shaking a bit and you couldn't focus your sight on any object. You placed a hand over your mouth and stared wide-eyed at nothing.
Narancia yelled out and Moody Blues exited the turtle still being on replay. The room stayed in dead silence and you started to break into a cold sweat. Your breathing getting a bit heavier with each second passing.
This was a rude awakening to you. You had killed yes and watched people die, even jumped out a moving train, however, you had only seen the people who were trying to get Trish die. This man, this man was someone who had been loyal to the boss through his life, one of the better people in the gang you could tell and he died.
Oh my... this isn't some game, I should be taking this more seriously. Good people are dying...
"Mr. Pericolo..."
Giorno and Mista were driving and making sure you weren't being followed while everyone else stayed inside the turtle. You didn't eat, it was night but you weren't, you only took a sip of water here and there while you felt on edge.
"Y/n."
You snapped out of your frozen depressed state and looked to Abbicchio who had spoken. He stood up from the chair he was previously sitting on and walked to one of the walls.
"Come here."
The others looked at you out of the corner of their eyes and then to Abbacchio, unsure of what he was going to do or say. You didn't know what he was going to do either yet you followed his orders and stood up from the couch.
Once you made it to him you looked into his eyes, just now noticing they were a violet to yellow ombré. It was something beautiful to see in a dark time.
"Yes?"
Your voice was quiet assuming the wanted to keep this privet, why else would he have walked away from the group, unless it was similar to what Bruno had called Abbacchio moments before.
He stayed silent and only looked at you, his eyes ran over your face and took in every last bit. Trying to read you. You confused him, you didn't want to be in the gang yet you risked your life to save them.
"Why were you in Capri if you live in Naples?"
You didn't think anything of the questions.
"My essay on cuttlefish won me a trip to Capri to study at a lab with marine biologist for-"
You froze and felt your heart drop. The lab, the study trip, you had completely forgotten about it. You came to Capri to study with real marine biologists, not join Giorno and the gang. You had stopped mid-sentence and gritted your teeth, your eyes widening.

"Y/n? What is it?"
Your hands shot to your head and you held the sides of your face. Lightly panicking.
"Oh my god. The study trip... I forgot all about it. What am I supposed to do about that?"
Your hands got lost in your hair you paced around in a small line. You brought a hand out of your hair and pulled your phone out from your pocket and looked down at it.
"What're doing?"
Abbacchio had his arms crossed and you looked through the contacts and clicked on the lab, Bruno standing up quickly.
"Y/n, you can't make a call. It could be traced."
You looked at him and your finger was hovering over the button that would start the call. You paused and started to put your phone back in your pocket until it started ringing. It was the lab. The room went dead silent and the only sound was your ring tone.
"Whatta man whatta man whatta man whatta mighty good maaaaan."
Despite the stiff situation, your face exploded with color and your grip tightened around the phone and Narancia nodded his head along to your ring tone and Trish perked up at the music. It was nice to hear some music after only silence and talking about the missions. You looked at Bruno to see what he was going to do.
Bruno looked at you and nodded, you answered it and brought the phone to your ear and the music stopped.
"Hello?"
Everyone stayed silent as you talked.
"Good afternoon, Y/n. I'm sorry to call you at such a late time. Did I wake you?"
"No, I was already awake, but I need to keep this call short so what is it professor?"
You bit your bottom lip while everyone listened to your conversation, at least, your side of the conversation.
"Well, a few days ago a street was set on fire and there was a body found and we wanted to make sure you were ok."
"Yeah, I'm ok. Thanks for making sure."
You cringed a bit and looked to Narancia. This made him curious.
"No on another note one of the cars that had been set on fire on that street had files of important research so we'll have to push back your studying back a bit."
Your eyes lit up so did your face, you couldn't believe your luck, but then you realized how and it was for the files being destroyed.
"Oh, that's good! I mean not the files being burned, that's bad."
You made a cringe face and looked at the team watching you, quickly wrapping up the call.
"Just call me when it's all ready. Goodnight, bye."
You quickly hung up and put your phone back in your pockets. The room continued to stay silent, a somewhat awkward silence.
"You have 'Whatta Man' by Salt-N-Pepa as your ring tone?"
You looked at Narancia who was grinning widely with bright eyes. You covered your face and walked back to the couch and sat down.
"Yeah."
With Mista and Giorno -
Giorno drove the car into the canal and dived in, the car soon freezing in place so it stopped sinking.
"Ah, great idea! Now that we're in water can we just get Y/n out here? Her stand is like a fish right it should do well with all this water right?"
Giorno used Golden Experience to punch through the back window and get Ghiaccio off the car.
"No, it's the opposite. If she were to come out here her stand could be trapped and frozen underwater. Calling her out here would also give away the position of the turtle and that can't happen. We need to take care of this ourselves."
In the turtle -
You sat next to Fugo as light classical music played from your phone. Narancia was above looking for Giorno and Mista and talked to Bruno.
"Narancia, have you found them? Were the two signals Mista and Giorno?"
Bucciarati questioned and Trish stood up, walking her way towards you and Fugo and looked down at him.
"Move."
Her voice was blank and she kept her face neutral as she looked at Fugo who raised his eyebrows.
"What?"
You paused the music and looked at Trish who kept the same face.
"I said move."
Fugo furrowed his brows and had a confused look on his face and stood up, walked off to the side a bit, and watched as Trish sat beside you where he was previously sitting. His mouth dropped open and he watched you.
Trish moved closer to you and leaned into your side, reaching your arm over and started the music again. Fugo starting to walk back over to you with his fists clenched and his jaw shut tightly until Narancia high pitched voice interrupted them.
"A-ah there something in my eye! I-I can't see them clearly!"
Even from inside the turtle, if you listened closely, which you did. You could hear a loud yell come from Mista, screaming at Giorno to be more gentle.
