《Metanoia》Chapter 8

You watched as Narancia was being yelled at from afar while you stayed in the background. Knowing you'd be next in line for being yelled at. Obviously not looking forward to the unwanted attention.
"Who is this girl?! How do you know she's not an enemy and here for Trish?! So she patched you up and you think she's pretty that doesn't prove anything!"
"She killed the guy trying to find us with her stand so she's obviously good! And Giorno knows her!"
You watched as all their heads snapped to you, you were an inch away from your legs giving under you, feeling sick to your stomach. Giorno looked at you shocked, not only seeing you here but Narancia saying you killed a man.
"I killed a man?"
Your blood ran cold and your face drained of color a look of concern spread across Giorno's face while everyone else didn't react. You gripped your stomach and turned away from the group so they wouldn't have to see. You felt your breakfast rise up your throat you hunched over.
The vision on the burned up man standing before you shown in your memories. Your stand holding his by its throat and biting it harshly and then the man's body collapsing. It was horrifying.
You hurled. Your stomach content laid before you in a puddle. Your throw up consisted of Greek yogurt, some granola, and a banana. You spit out what was still in your mouth and throat, trying to get rid of the awful flavor and the burning in your throat.
"I need scope."
Your voice was hoars as you felt the second wave coming up. Giorno noticed this and walked up to you, he gathered your hair in his hands, and once again you threw up your stomach onto the ground making the group cringe.
"Um, I'll get some water and some scope."
A skeptical Fugo walked into the house and grabbed you a bottle of water and mouth wash from the bathroom.
You fell back on your butt and looked up at Giorno who was still standing. Your hair no longer gathered in his hands and you had a defeated look on your face.
"I doubt you still have my badge."
He smiled gently at you and squatted down, pulling out two golden pins from his pocket and handing you one.
"Are you ready to join?"
Before you could answer Fugo arrived with a glass of water and some scope which you gladly took. You swished the scope around in your mouth and gargling it, spitting it out on the ground next to your throw up and then took a long drink of water.
You met Giorno's green eyes and took in the beauty of them. Sighing you stood up and flipped the pin in the air. You saw it in slow motion. The golden badge flipping and turning over in the air as the sun caught on it making it shine brightly before it came down into your hands and you and caught it.
"I'm sure I'm going to regret this but yeah. But the capo decides if I'm officially in right? That's how it works right?
You heard a gunshot go off and turned your head in the direction of the sound so fast you almost snapped your neck. A bullet heading straight towards you right at your head.
Your stand appeared before you and opened its mouth. It bit down at the perfect moment and bit the bullet, its sharp teeth penetrating the bullet. The metal started to dissolve and dropped to the sizzling and burning a hole in the ground.

You looked around trying to see who shot or you but coming up empty-handed.
Bruno's eyes ran over your stand, taking it in standing there in all its glory. Your Stand spat out the rest of the bullet out and like before a hole was burned into the ground while you could hear it fizzling and see it bubbling.
Mista, who was in the van, was giggling childishly after he shot at you. Now that you turned he had the perfect line of vision of your ass.
"What's your name?"
You turned your head to the man in white with black hair. Fugo, Narancia, Abbacchio, Giorno, and evening Trish from the window watched you.
"Y/n L/n."
The man smiled and walked forward, holding his hand out for you to shake which you gladly took. Mirroring his smile. He seemed nice enough.
"Welcome to Passione Y/n. I'll have Giorno fill you in on the mission. For now-"
"Bucciarati! I think you received a message from the boss!"
He was cut off by a man slamming the back door of the van open. Everyone's breath hitched and Giorno pulled you to the side and he began to explain the situation.
"Fugo, Abbacchio, Giorno, and Y/n, you four will head to Pompeii."
Already?
You sat beside Abbacchio and behind Giorno while Fugo drove the van. The only thing you could hear was the sound of his calming voice talking about the history of Pompeii and you thought back to when you had visited Pompeii on a field trip.
A hundred or so four years olds ran around the ruins of the city of death. Rushing to find a hiding spot as their teacher counted to sixty.
"Ready or not here I come!"
You contained a giggle while crouching down next to your friend. Both of you hiding behind a collapsed wall.
The car came to a violent stop and you jerked forward. If it wasn't for the arm that had shot out in front of you your head would have badge into the seat in front of you. You followed the arm you found it connected to Abbacchio and smiled at him. Thanking him with a smile while he only clicked his tongue and look away.
Fugo started to yell at Giorno for not telling him to turn right and you stayed out of it. Tough for Giorno. Abbacchio kicked the back of Fugo's seat and snapped him out of it.
"Fugo. We're in a hurry so don't lose it now."
You felt your heart skip a beat hearing his voice for the first time. It was smooth and dark, the kind of voice could make any woman weak to their knees. And you were no exception.
Fugo apologized, his voice snapping you out of your thoughts as backed the car up and turned right. Going in the right direction this time. You went back to looking out the window and waited to arrive at your destination.
A few minutes later you stepped out of the car next to Giorno while Abbacchio and Fugo were on the other side of the van. Abbicchio's smooth voice spoke once again.
"Pompeii huh? I haven't been here since I visited on a school trip as a kid."
A smile spread across your face as the memory of running around the ruins came up in your thoughts again.
"I went here on a school trip too. We somehow got the whole class to play hide and seek among the ruins and even the teachers and adults joined."
You scratched the back of your neck and smiled at nothing while you looked at the sky. Not seeing the smile Fugo and Giorno wore hearing you talk about the childish memory. While the corner of Abbacchio's lips twitched upward for a mere second.

The four of you started to walk to the dog mosaic. Fugo was by your side while Giorno walked ahead of you both and Abbicchio leading the way.
"Y/n, what do you study at university?"
His voice was laced with curiosity and you let out a small huff of enjoyment with a cute smile on your face which made him smile.
"Well-"
You were cut off by Giorno who had stopped walking and looked back at the two of you, he wasn't smiling anymore.
"She studies Marine Biology."
You raised your eyebrows a bit and nodded, he was right. A bit shocked at how he knew that until you remembered you yelling at him about how you wouldn't be able to become a marine biologist if you were in a gang. Fugo frowned at him.
"I was asking Y/n. Not you Giorno. But marine biology? You must be smart. I'm more of a history person."
You smiled at his compliment and turned your face away becoming bashful.
"I can tell by the way you talked about the history of Pompeii. I enjoyed listening to it. It was calming."
You offered him a smile and it was his turned to grin and become bashful. As he was about to respond his eyes caught hold of a mirror and he furrowed his brow.
"Everyone be on your guard."
You peeled away from Fugo's side and started to look around. He must have seen something. Your eyes scanning over the crumbled walls and caved-in roofs.
"Fugo! Where are you Fugo?!"
You heard Abbacchio yelling and turned back to the gang, expecting to see Fugo standing with the other two but he was gone. Rushing towards them you looked around. Not sure what happened or where Fugo had gone.
"What did I miss?"
"Y/n, Giorno. Both of you slowly walked toward me."
Abbacchio ignored your question and you looked to him. A look of panic mixed with fear on his face as you followed his orders and walked towards him. You froze in place when you heard strange noises and turned around. A purple and white Stand sat curled up surrounded by a purple smoke.
Giorno saw this too and brought out his stand ready to attack it.
"Giorno forget about it that's not our enemy that's Fugo's stand!"
You blocked out their voices and took another few steps away from the stand. It was making odd noises while foaming at its mouth that looked to be sewn shut. Its eyes were wide in an insane why like it was ready to attack anything.
Fugo's stand started to slowly uncurl and stand up while letting out a dry noise that was hard to describe. Like dry heaving. You felt Abbacchio's hand grab your shoulder and pull you back further but you didn't tear your eyes away from Purple Haze.
"Get away from it."
Abbacchio growled and Purple Haze yelled and started to punch at the air, its posture was hunched over. You took a step back as it started to punch at a wall that crumbled to pieces. This seemed to make Abbicchio even more stressed and panicked. He gripped your shoulder tighter and dragged you back further while Giorno jogged ahead.
You turned around after hearing a splat on the ground, turning to see a dead crow lying at the feet of Purple Haze.
"It just suddenly... dropped dead. What happened to it?"
You questioned and Abbacchio started to explain Fugo's Stand as you stood off to the side watching the Stand move. You listened closely to the information on Purple Haze and repeated it to yourself to memorize it.
Another crow flying above dropped dead. Its bones cracking and the fluids in its body and blood squirting and it looked like a pile of rotten mush.
Fugo's stand was hunched over with its pupils as small as a pinhead. Drool dripped onto his thigh as he flinched back. Unable to describe the sound he made you stared at it curiously and watched its odd behavior.
It wiped at its leg trying to clean off the drool that dropped onto his leg.
"He's really high strung and really cares about being clean. Neat freak."
You watched as he proudly smiled until he caught sight of his arm that he used to clean the drool away with.
"What would happen if I were to give him a towel?"
You knew it was a dumb question, and most likely Abbacchio would yell at you for even thinking about it. He looked at you like you were insane just as you predicted.
Your eyes were still focused on Purple Haze while your hand found its way into your pocket, pulling out a small handkerchief you had brought with you in case you saw something and needed to throw up again.
Fugo's Stand wiped its arms against each other only making it worse. It let out noises like small yells and started to lick at its arms. Drool was now covering its wrists which dropped down onto his thigh. Now both of his wrists and his thigh had drool on them, he switched his gaze between the three spots almost confused as to why he was more dirty and sad about it.
"It doesn't look like the stand itself is very intelligent."
You frowned and hit Giorno's arm. Catching the attention of the two males who looked at you confused.
"Don't be mean Giorno. He's just a bit confused and needs some help that's all."
You smiled and folded up the handkerchief and prepared to throw it. Abbacchio explained how it was just the violent side of Fugo and he wasn't controlling it properly, if he was here he'd never let him do that.
You threw the handkerchief towards him and it landed at his feet. His eyes lit up as he stopped rubbing his arms together and started to wipe down his arms and thighs. An excited look on his face as he placed the handkerchief into a pocket happily. You smiled.
"See he just needed a bit of help."
You were cut off when Purple Haze rammed his fist into the mirror Fugo was looking at minutes before. The capsules on his knuckles breaking and releasing more of the virus, the cloud of purple smoke growing around him.
You kept watching Purple Haze while standing next to Giorno as Abbacchio called for both of you to leave. Giorno started asking what the plan was and Abbacchio stated his grade A plan. To get the key and just abandon Fugo who was in danger.
Giorno and Abbacchio argued back and forth hotly. Giorno refused to leave until he figured out where Fugo had gone to, while Abbacchio was yelling at the two of you to leave and collect the key.
Your mind blanked for a moment and all you could see what white. And all you could hear was white noise until your senses returned. Abbacchio was running away and you and Giorno stayed put. You missed what Abbicchio just said but didn't follow him and stayed with Giorno.
Your eye switched back to Purple Haze and your feet stayed planted on the ground.
Fugo is controlling Purple Haze... so why did he choose to destroy the mirror?
