"You guys have heard of vegetarians right? Are they allowed to eat, like cheese?" Hearing Mista ask that from across the table you could only let out a long sigh shaking your head, there was a feeling of nostalgia that right away hit you as soon as he spoke.
"Here we go again." Muttering that your attention veered back to finishing up with fixing the shoulder of Bruno's suit, tugging at the thread and looking over the stitching for any missed spots you nodded to yourself cutting the remaining thread off. "You know there's a different name for that kind of thing right? Like Vegan and Vegetarian right?"
Pursing his lips in thought at what you pointed out he let out a loud huff, "Ok well then can either of them eat cheese?"
Turning in his seat Abbacchio voiced his assumption. "Probably not, I mean, milk and eggs come from cows and chickens. That means they probably can't have cake that uses whipped cream, either."
"What?! They can't have cake either?" Giving a pause Mista's brows furrowed, "Are we talking about both vegans and vegetarians or just one of them? Because now I'm even more confused."
"What's new." Letting out an airy laugh and leaning back into your seat you decided to clarify what the gunslinger was asking. "Vegetarians only avoid meat, while Vegans avoid anything that comes from an animal. That is my understanding of them at the very least."
"Man, I wonder if their bodies actually function better in that case."
"Ok but then what do those guys do about shoes or handbags?" Asking that from his seat Narancia raised the spoon he had in hand into the air gesturing around with it. "Those are made from leather."
"Well, if they're vegan because they feel bad for animals, they probably wear sneakers and carry backpacks instead." Giving his answer Abbacchio raised one of his arms moving to rest an elbow onto the table.

Leaning over the table and checking out of the conversation you snagged one of the breadsticks ripping up small pieces to snack on. Your gaze traveled from around the table before moving back to see Giorno staring down the canal. "Hey Giorno, you shouldn't be so tense. It won't make anything happen any quicker." Having turned in place to observe the blond you added on, "You should just eat something now. Can't fight on an empty stomach."
Keeping his gaze on the canal he spoke, "I know...but we still need to be on our guard. For example, there's a possibility someone could have poisoned our food." Hearing what he added you glanced down towards your half eaten breadstick.
"If that's the case then I should eat something else other than a poisoned breadstick." Though you knew that your attempt to lighten the mood might be ineffective you waved the item in hand through the air.
"You think you can pay for this?! This suit cost four million lire!" Turning back towards where the yelling had come from you could see a man in a suit gripping the straps of Narancia's top. Splotches of red were speckled along the bottom of his white suit leading you to assume the boy had been careless and spilled wine.
Merely staring at the yelling man Narancia slammed his wine glass below the man's chin knocking him to the floor, "You must be an enemy!" Almost instantly Mista jumped up right as Narancia said that, the two now kicking the man laying amongst the floor.
"My god you guys." Face palming at the sight a long sigh left your lips upon seeing Abbacchio joining the two. "I get everyone's tense but come on." Muttering that under your breath Bruno seemed to have heard letting out a hum.
"Hold it, Narancia, Mista. I don't think this guy's an enemy. He's unconscious." Pointing that out Abbacchio's eyes scanned the bloodied man, "He's totally just a random civilian."
"I could've told you that." Grumbling that out Narancia's head turned back towards where you sat.

"What? Are you serious? Crap (Y/N) fix him."
You shook your head at the teen, "Nope, as much as I'd like to, that is a you problem." You weren't really one to just go off and use your stand all willy nilly, besides you were sure the guy would be fine.
"Wha- what am I gonna do?!" Whining in response to what you'd said he gripped his hair shaking his head.
Moving to tug at the man's suit Mista let out a hum, "Yeah, this stain's gonna be hard to get out. A single drop of wine on a white suit really stands out."
"I can't pay for this shit!"
"Well, the location of the stain might make it look like a button. If he puts a button there, he can hide it." Pointing that out and pursing his lips, Mista nodded to himself before turning to watch Abbacchio step back towards the table, returning with a spoon and shoving whatever was on it into the guys mouth.
"While we're at it, let's get him to make sure there isn't any poison in our food."
Once again face palming at the group a defeated sigh left your lips, there was really no getting through to the three of them and their antics. You knew that first hand. "I'm sure if it was poisoned I'd be dead already."
"Ok, but if you did get poisoned couldn't you just fix yourself?" Hearing Mista point that out you went to counter before pausing; you never really tried seeing what you could and could not heal on yourself so something like that would be unknown to even you.
"Maybe, but you should all sit back down anyways. We don't want to garner any unwanted attention." Using the newly acquired breadstick in hand to motion along with what you were saying you bit off part of the breadstick.
Returning to their seats Abbacchio was the first to speak, resting an arm along the table. "So, Bucciarati. What are we going to do now?"
Eyeing Bruno the man stared down at his untouched food before answering, "The boss's stand makes time disappear, and the boss is the only one who can move freely in that state. He's invincible. It doesn't matter who it is. Anyone's attack becomes useless before that stand." Raising an arm and resting it on the table he continued. "However...that'll change once we find out who the boss is! Because if we find out the boss's identity, we might actually assassinate him. And to do that, we need to find out who he really is."
Though Bruno's whole speech was very moving and you were with it 100%, there was something that still bugged you. If the boss was so powerful and had the ability to mess with something such as time,
Then how come he didn't finish everyone off at the church?
Surely taking on more than one person should've been as easy as pie for someone like that, but perhaps there was another variable you were missing.
Stands have different ranges, so maybe the boss's range was limited to compensate for such a strong ability, it would have to balance out in some way.
Casting your gaze back towards where Giorno stood you could tell that the blond had something similar running through his mind as well. Maybe not exactly what you were thinking but something presumably along the same lines, like how apart from the whole boss and time thing...there was something off about Bruno. You couldn't place your finger on what it was but he just didn't seem 100% the same as before.
Perhaps you could bounce your thoughts off Giorno later.

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
