"This is crazy. They just disappeared and if they were looking for money wouldn't that mean they've been tailing us?" Saying that and knitting your brows at the prospect of someone following the group, you pieced together that they must've had a very clever plan from the start to have gone unnoticed by seven stand users.
"Seems like that's the case. They probably became impatient because I wouldn't just say where the money is. They intend to get rid of everyone but me then make me cough up the location. The shitty thing here is that they can take their time, since we're on the ocean with nowhere to run."
Pursing your lips and pondering if the last bit was true, your eyes wandered towards the water thinking about how long someone would last throwing themselves overboard or even how far the shore was.
"Are you saying Narancia and the others are dead?" Calling that out Abbacchio peered back at the group leader, his tone of voice was that of concern and his brows were furrowed following the question.
"He never said they were, they're probably being held hostages right now. I mean I can still feel them on the boat if that makes sense." Answering for Bruno and stating that, you could tell that Abbacchio seemed almost relieved with that new information, save for the part where you mentioned they were hostages.
"I agree with (Y/N), they're all still alive. They're just somewhere on this boat." Having just reiterated what you'd said it seemed as though when it came from the blonds mouth it sounded more annoying to the white haired man.
"Giorno Giovanna, I can understand why (Y/N) would know something like that. But how can you be so sure about that?" Looming over the crouched blond, Giorno merely raised a hand pointing towards the deck of the boat towards what seemed to be a fly buzzing around.
"I used my stand to turn Narancia's shoe into a fly. The fly is trying to return to its owner, Narancia. So if Narancia was truly dead, it wouldn't be flying around searching like that." It seemed interesting how his stand was being used and in a way it made you feel like your own method of knowing they were alive was lame. You could only really tell through something similar to life-force, it just went hand in hand with your own ability.

"Can you locate him?"
"Well, he's alive...he's alive. But it's not going down into the cabin or in the locker. The fly's not trying to stop, it keeps flying around that area looking for him." Watching the bug carefully weave through the air you pieced together what the blond was getting at.
An 'oh' left your lips as you vocalized your realization, "So you're saying that he's moving around, meaning that they're all moving around- somewhere over there." Pointing your finger over where the fly was Giorno gave a nod confirming your assumption.
"Now the real question is, why we can't see them."
Clenching his fist from behind the both of you Abbacchio's gaze remained intently focused on the fly, "What the hell is this guys ability."
Drumming your fingers along the fabric of your jeans you nibbled on the inside of your cheek in thought, "If we find the enemy we find the others. The tricky thing here being that he's probably not just hiding behind something." Murmuring that you knelt beside Giorno as to try and hone in on the same brainwave as him.
Bruno followed after kneeling beside you, "I see. So if we don't figure out the mystery behind the enemy's stand ability, getting too close without knowing could get us killed."
Nodding at the dark haired man Giorno took in a breath, "Correct, but the fact is that their ability requires them to attack while being hidden which is their shortcoming. If we can figure out the mystery behind it, we'll be able to defeat them."
Turning your attention to the white haired man crouched beside Giorno you could make out a slight frown stretched out across his expression listening intently to what Bruno was asking, "Abbacchio, your stand might be perfect to defeat such an enemy."
"Hard to say..."
Obviously displeased with that response Bruno's brows downturned, "Damn it, Abbacchio! You'd better not be hung up on stupid shit at a time like this!"
"Stupid shit? No. This has to do with my safety. I can't just carelessly reveal my stand ability in front of a stranger that I can't trust." Wanting to face palm at the response you listened to the man continue, "Bucciarati, I don't know what made you trust this guy or (Y/N) be so nice to him, but I don't consider him a part of the team."

"If we don't figure out the enemy's location, we're going to be killed!"
"And I'm saying that's just this untrustworthy brat's hypothesis. He just came up with it out of fear. He didn't see anything." Jutting a finger out towards Giorno and stating that, you could see the blond gradually become annoyed with each word.
"Abbacchio!"
"The enemy is just hiding somewhere in the cabin. I'll find them and take care of them." Pointing towards himself, you merely clicked your tongue at the stubborn man.
"Abbacchio, if the fly hasn't gone into the cabin then what makes you so sure they're in there? Are you really trying to disappear like the other three?"
"Shut your mouth!" Reactively snapping back assuming that Giorno would've been the one to speak he instantly wanted to take those words back seeing your mouth clamp shut and a frown curl onto your lips. You knew Abbacchio could be abrasive at times but you never really expected him to yell at you like that.
Catching sight of your expression from the side the blond raised up speaking as to sway the conversation attention back towards himself, "I, Giorno Giovanna, have a dream." Standing tall and briefly passing his gaze over the group he dashed forward still speaking. "You can solve the mystery, right? I'm counting on you!"
"Wait! Giorno what are you doing!" Calling out towards the blond and watching him run across the deck, he jumped over the floors cut out before getting pulled back by an arm which had appeared followed by a blade of some sort driving itself into his back. "Holy shit!"
"The enemy's over there! Shit! Giorno's in trouble." Both Bruno and yourself were ready to jump into action before being halted by Abbacchio who'd quickly stood before the both of you, a bright blue aura quickly enveloped the man.
"Giorno Giovanna...you're one crazy bastard. All this to prove yourself. What the hell is wrong with you."
Moving past the white haired man and staring down at the emptied box Bruno clenched his first in disbelief, "I-impossible! Where are they! Giorno where are you?!"
Going to move down to the lower section Abbacchio quickly pulled the dark haired man back also extending an out out before you in case you decided to hop down as well. "Don't go down there. Actually both of you, stay back. It's not that I trust Giorno Giovanna as one of us, but Giorno seems to actually believe that you won't abandon him. He does some pretty crazy shit."
"What if that had actually killed you?"
"If you really think that then sorry to burst your bubble but he's still alive, as are the others but I mean listen to me or not that's your choice." Still salty with how he reacted to what you'd said earlier you let out a sigh deadpanning at the man, a frown quickly etched itself onto his lips upon hearing your comment.

Y/N after Abbacchio yelled at her:
I would DIE if someone from the Bucci gang yelled at me, like that would be so- I'd burst into tears on the spot no lie. Aha but like that's also just me and the fact Abbacchio is canonically like 6'1 almost 6'2. That man would just TOWER over my short self.

The Laptop Hero (Portal/Isekai LitRPG)
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. If you can do better I'll happily accept your submission and give credit for your work here!
