Crawling past the light of day
Like a child in search of its mother
Moving swiftly
Creeping upon us
Like a lioness in search of prey
A cage
Entrapping us withing its dark reaches
Keeping out our one source of light
Yet leaving behind little speckles of brilliance in the sky
But none
To compare with our sun
The only source of true radiance
In this darkness
Is our moon
The moon of legends
This time is nothingness
Blessed with the few little lights
Moon and stars
That's why we call it "night"
