They always say

Live day to day

But before I can realize

Each day floats by

So I give up on living day to day

For mostly all are dull and grey

So I try to live

Week to week

Yet each week remains

Rather bleak

So I give up on living week to week

For I blindly climb the mountain

Without seeing the peak

So I try to live

Month to month

Yet my dreary days

Are void of fun

So I give up on living month to month

A never ending maze

You can't escape once you've begun

So I try to live

Year to year

But the bicycle

Has but one gear

So I give up on living year to year

But I can't just keep waiting

For excitement to appear

If I can't live

Year to year

Month to month

Week to week

Or day to day

Then I know it's time

To make a change

Add some excitement

In little ways

And what do you know?

I'm living day to day
