《Theirs》Chapter 15

I slowly opened my eyes and the first thing I saw were Tharion and Draco who were grinning from ear to ear. I slowly sat up and rubbed my eyes.
"What happened to me?" I asked in confusion.
Then an image of them being naked and running towards me appeared in my head.
My eyes widened and I pulled away from them as quickly as possible. They looked at me in confusion.
"What's wrong?" Tharion asked.
"Y-y-y-you... Why-were-you-naked-
earlier?!" I asked quickly, feeling very embarrassed for seeing my bosses like that.
They both grinned at me.
"Why-are-you-grinning-like-that?"
And then more images appeared. Ones where I saw big black dragons and when their flame engulfed me.
Fear slowly creeped inside of me.
What was that? I know it wasn't a dream. It was too real to be a dream.
Then the tent opened and Lyla and Blaze walked in.
"You're awake!" Lyla yelled excitedly and immediately pulled me in a hug.
But my eyes were wide and staring at Blaze.
I was right! It wasn't a dream!
"Oh boy. She's losing it." Lyla said.
"L-lyla..." I mumbled in fear.
"Okay Kate. Take deep breaths. We'll explain everything." She said reassuringly.
"We? You were in on all of this?!" I yelled in surprise.
"Calm down Katie. We asked her to help us." Draco said gently.
"Help you?! Help you with what?! To undress yourselves in the middle of some hidden meadow!" I yelled angrily.
They took me there on purpose.
"And those... those dragons-"
"Were us." Tharion interrupted.
"WHAT?!" I screeched.
I can't believe this. Matthew was right all along. Dragons are living among us.
"Who's Matthew?" Draco asked angrily.
Shit. I said that out loud.
"None of your fucking business. Explain everything that happened at that damned meadow or I'm leaving right this instant." I said fiercely.

Both Tharion and Draco glared at me, but I was not going to budge. The happy bubble which surrounded me all this time burst and all I saw were faces of lying people. My best friend being one of them. I glared at her and her face fell.
"Okay Kate. Calm down. We'll explain everything." Blaze said calmly.
"Then why aren't you fucking explaining already?!" I yelled aggressively.
"Enough!" Tharion growled, making me flinch and pull away from him.
Hurt and regret flashed in his eyes, but I didn't care. It was slowly downing on me that these two were actually dragons. Blaze was probably a dragon too. And I'm only now processing what they said earlier.
They're the dragons that set me on fire!
But then I realized.
"How am I not dead?" I asked unconsciously as I checked for any possible injuries.
"You're our mate, Katie." Draco said softly.
"A what?" I said incredulously.
"A mate. As in our soulmate. We were meant to be together." He explained.
Then I remembered when Matthew talked about it.
Dragons and their mates. Fated to be together forever.
"B-b-but how?" I mumbled in disbelief.
"She's too calm about all of this." Lyla said instead.
"I know. She's way too calm." Blaze confirmed.
"And how do you expect me to react? Matthew's theories about dragons were true!" I said in frustration.
Tharion and Draco again growled at the mention of Matthew.
What's their problem?
"Who's this Matthew you keep mentioning?" Tharion said lowly.
"Her brother. So calm the fuck down. Two jealous dragons is not what we need right now." Lyla said in annoyance and then looked at me.
I saw them visibly relax when she said that.
They were actually jealous of Matthew? Ew, gross.
"What did Matthew tell you that's stopping you from freaking out?" Lyla asked.

I skeptically looked between her and the three dragons.
"He was in this phase at the last year of high school where he couldn't stop talking about dragons. Although I didn't believe in any of it, I still listened to his constant blabbering because it was kinda interesting. He told me quite a bit." I said slowly.
"He must've had a friend who was a dragon and told him about us. It's the only way he could've known, because most of the things people write about us aren't true." Blaze said with a nod.
"You still didn't answer my question though." I mumbled and they all looked at me. "How the fuck are we mates?" I asked.
"The same way they are." Draco said and pointed at Lyla and Blaze. "We don't know how humans and dragons can be mates. It's been around for centuries though, so we're used to it." He explained.
I looked at Lyla and Blaze and then started to combine all the information. But one thing doesn't add up.
"Why did you set me on fire then? If I really am your mate, why did you do it?" I asked Tharion and Draco carefully.
I mean, it's not like I died because of it, but I still want to know why.
"That's the only way to make sure you really are our mate. We could've felt a temporary attraction toward you, so it was the only way to know for certain." Tharion said.
"If you're our mate, the flame won't hurt you. If you aren't then you can guess what happens next." Draco added.
"What?! You weren't even sure if I was your mate and you did it?! What if I wasn't your mate?! You could've killed me just like that!" I yelled at them.
I can't believe this! The fucking nerve of these two...
"Oh believe me, Lyla already gave us a lesson about that." Draco said with a grin.
I looked at Lyla and she had tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry for hiding all of this Kate. But you understand why I did that. If it weren't for their nature, I would never let them do that. But it had to be done." She said through sniffles.
I smiled softly and pulled her in a hug.
"I'm sorry for accusing you." I mumbled sheepishly.
She chuckled a little and then pulled away.
"It's okay. You have every right." She said and wiped her tears.
"I'm so glad Matthew told you about us. Imagine having to calm down another Lyla." Blaze said with a shiver.
Both Lyla and I glared at him.
"You're really asking for it." Lyla said angrily.
He made a face at her and Lyla immediately lunged at him. He laughed loudly and ran out of the tent. And suddenly I was left alone with my supposed mates. Since I'm actually starting to accept all of this, I suddenly felt shy and embarrassed for acting like I did. I could feel my cheeks blushing already.
"So..." Draco said with a mischievous grin and moved next to me.
"Nope. Stay away." I said in embarrassment and quickly moved away from him.
"I don't think so." He said and gently grabbed my wrist.
But the sudden pain made me hiss loudly and yank my wrist out of his.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to grab you so roughly!" He said in panic.
But all my focus was on my wrists. My eyes were probably as big as plates.
"What the fuck is this?!"
