《Bloodstained (Thorin x OC)》It Was the Only Way

Slowly, the world began coming back together around Agarwaen. Her feet dragged on the ground as she was forced along. Lifting her head up, she saw Fili struggling ahead of her as Azog pulled him by the collar of his shirt.

"Fili..." She mumbled, and the dwarf looked to her, realizing she was beginning to come back.

Daylight hit her like a ton of bricks as they approached a collapsed opening in the tower, overlooking the frozen waterfall. She squinted and looked down to where Thorin, Dwalin, and Bilbo watched in horror as Azog lifted Fili into the air. What was Bilbo doing there? The new question prompted her thoughts to run faster, and what exactly was happening came flooding back. She turned her gaze to the orc who held her by her wrists while she was on her knees before him, facing the outside, and pulled frantically, but his grip didn't let up.

"This one dies first." Azog spoke in black speech. "Then the brother. Then you, Oakenshield. You will die last, but not before your little elven whore too." He pointed to where Agarwaen sat.

"No!" She cried, rolling on her back and kicking the orc that held her away. Before any of them could even blink, she was on her feet, and leapt for Fili, tearing him from Azog's grasp, sending them both plummeting down to the ground below. Thinking quickly, she positioned herself beneath Fili as they fell, knowing that he wasn't likely to survive unless she broke his fall. She knew this would truly be her end, but she made a promise to Thorin, and by the might of Iluvatar, she would keep it.

Fili however, caught on mid-fall, and shoved her out from under him, refusing to kill her like that. Before she could react and get back under him, they both hit the ground hard, and she instinctively rolled to break the fall as only an elf could. Fili tried to break it, but landed on his side with a sickening crunch.

"Fili!" She wheezed out and scooted over to his side. She rolled him onto his back, and he squeezed his eyes shut in pain. But he was still alive.

"You stupid dwarf!" She cried with a smile, overjoyed that he was alive, but worried for him now that his right arm and several of his ribs were broken, likely along with many other things. He tried to speak but had no breath.

Agarwaen then looked up to see Kili, anger written all over his face before he bolted out from behind them, and headed for the stairs.

"Kili no!" She called after him, stumbling to her feet, ready to follow after him, but realized that someone needed to stay with Fili and protect him. She returned to the prince's side, constantly on high alert for any orcs that decided to come finish him off.

"Why did you push me out of the way?" She asked.

"I...couldn't let you...die." He wheezed out.

"You could have died! You're heir to the throne, Fili, have you forgotten that?"

"I couldn't...couldn't live with m-myself if you died...to break my fall."

"I was perfectly fine dying to save you." She shook her head. "I promised your uncle I wouldn't let anything happen to you." It was then that she noticed Thorin run past them, following after Kili. Blonde hair caught the king's eyes, and he spared a glance in their direction, immediately stopping when he saw Fili on the ground.

"He's alive." Agarwaen yelled over to Thorin. "Go find Kili!" The dwarf nodded and continued up the stairs, immensely relieved to know that neither of them died from the fall. It wasn't too much later when about a dozen orcs rushed down the stairs, looking for the escaped prince and elf.

"Come at me, you bastards." Agarwaen challenged, standing between them and Fili with her daggers, her sword missing somewhere in the towers. They chortled at the challenge, drawing their weapons. She charged them, dodging their blows and taking them down just like in Dale, making sure absolutely none of them came too close to Fili. The ruckus brought the attention of more orcs, who came running to assist their allies in the fight.

After fighting this battle all day, taking hit after hit, running to ravenhill, and falling about fifty feet, Agarwaen was nearly spent, and her limbs grew heavy as her adrenaline began to deteriorate. But she had to keep going. She started to fall back, unable to hold off the eight orcs fighting her at once, and the six more that waited behind them.

That was when an axe swung through the air, taking off two of the orcs heads in one swing, before sending another one flying.

"I've got you, lass!" Dwalin shouted as the orcs turned to face him now. He buried his axe in one's chest before pulling it out and decapitating another. Agarwaen jumped back in and slit another's throat and impaled one more, and finally, all the orcs laid in a bloody mess on the ground.

"Fili's alive, but he can't move." She led Dwalin to where Fili lay smirking up at them.

"I'm undefeated." The prince breathed painfully, and Dwalin shook his head.

"I'll stay with him. You go help Thorin."

"But shouldn't you--"

"He'll need more than just strength to take that cursed creature out. Go." Agarwaen nodded and reluctantly left, trying to figure out where the king had gone. Before leaving the scene however, she picked up an orcish sword with a better reach than her daggers, having a feeling she'd need it.

She raced up the steps of the tower where she'd seen him go before, but sounds of battle came from a different direction. She ran to the northern section of the tower and looked down, spotting Thoin dodging a boulder attached to a chain from atop the frozen waterfall. In an instant, she was back to running down through the ruins, leaping down stairwells and vaulting over crumbling walls, sliding down exposed sections of cliff. By the time she'd gotten close to the waterfall, Thorin stood alone, walking atop the ice. Where had Azog gone? She took a few slow and cautious steps down, but looked up sharply at the sound of Thorin crying out in pain. Azog burst through the ice, knocking Thorin to the ground, and tried to impale the dwarf with his sword, but Thorin put his own sword between them, effectively stopping Azog's.

"Thorin, no!" Agarwaen's voice rang clear and sharp, sounding like she'd never been crushed by the stone giants all those years ago. Azog looked up and sneered at her as she came barreling down the rest of the slope, jumping clear over the last set of stairs. She landed with a roll and sprinted toward the orc over the cracked ice and leapt at him. Azog let out a shout as he slammed her away with his left arm, sending her flying before she slid even further across the ice. Thorin used this distraction to push the orcs blade just far enough away, and roll in the opposite direction. Not expecting the sudden lack of opposing force, Azog's blade went right through the ice, getting stuck for a few seconds.

Agarwaen stood once again, stumbling forward slightly before charging again as Thorin came at him from the other side. The orc pulled his blade from the ice at the last second, and lurched backwards, quickly catching his balance.

Thorin and Agarwaen then changed direction, and Azog found himself being driven back as he tried to fight off both warriors at once. Swords clashed repeatedly, and no cut they managed to inflict on him seemed to even faze him. After getting rather close to the edge of the waterfall, he had to turn the fight around, and back they went toward the ruins again.

Azog snarled at his predicament, trying desperately to get a move in, but any time he could, the other one of the two would have full access to his weak spots. He was going to have to try something else.

He parried Agarwaen's blade for a second, before letting her come forward where he grabbed her and wrestled her sword out of her hand, tossing it aside before turning her back to face Thorin. His sword was now jutting into her side, and Thorin immediately stopped all advances, knowing that if he moved, Azog would run her through.

"Let her go!" Thorin yelled, but Azog just grinned.

"Dorzog. Dhlo az gurb pulg durg."

Agarwaen's thoughts began to race a million miles an hour as she thought about what she could do. Her left arm wasn't going anywhere, as Azog held it in a vice-like grip. She couldn't kick his knees in because he was too tall, she couldn't go limp to escape, couldn't fight back, couldn't push his sword away. But...there was one clear option. By pointing his sword at her while she was pressed against him, he was pointing the sword at himself. She looked to Thorin, who still stood in a defensive position, and as soon as he caught her eyes, she looked to Azog's sword, then back to him with a set jaw and sad eyes.

"No!" The dwarf yelled in a panic as she grabbed the base of Azog's sword-arm with her right hand and plunged it through her own side, through her cuirass, and out into him behind her. The orc gasped and stumbled back, releasing her as his sword slipped back out of her, creating a burning slippery feeling as blood gushed from her wound, and she fell forward, clutching her side as Thorin rushed forward, leaping atop the now injured pale orc, finally taking him to the ground.

Agarwaen watched, wincing while putting pressure on her wound, as Thorin straddled the orc, plunging Orcrist into him once, twice, and again before pushing the blade so hard, it went through the ice below them. He heaved a heavy sigh of accomplishment, before standing back up and running toward where Agarwaen sat, beginning to bleed out.

"Why did you do that?" He asked frantically as he pushed her hands aside to look at it himself. Unfortunately, he couldn't see it very well under her armor.

"It was the only way." She winced.

Dorzog. Dhlo az gurb pulg durg- Surrender. So that I may cut off your head.
