Towa recognizes the mansion as a palace, really. Dr. Carl's friend is too rich. Too much expensive stuff.
When Zack showed Towa to the room he had prepared in advance, Towa couldn't help the gasp that's coming out of his mouth.
A thought came into his mind and it was,
Damn, too rich ! Too gucci ! So shiny !
Towa thought he needed a pair of sunglasses. His room is full of shiny things. Even the walls are shiny okay?
"Wow..."
"I know right? I decorated it myself!"
Towa turned to the man beside him looking smug as hell. Towa frowned. This man is too extra, if judging by the way Zack decorated the room.
"Isn't this too...much? I mean...i'm not long here.." Towa said to Zack.
"Oh no. Guest is a King. Or so what my No—i mean, Grandfather says" Zack flashed a blinding smile at Towa.
"I mean..uh, you fine with having a corpse here ?" Towa asked out of nowhere. Oh of course, Towa really doesn't like to beat around the bush now.
Zack stopped frozen on his spot. He laughed nervously. "No. We have a cure anyways or...i think! No, we'll definitely get that cure !"
"How are you so confident, Mr. Zack?"
Zack grinned sheepishly. "I don't know. I have this urge to go and assure you that there's a cure"
"So there's no cure ?" Towa raised an eyebrow.
"What?! When did i say that—"
"BO—"
Zack and Towa turned around to find Visty clutching a bundle of paperwork tightly while their fist is in the air.
"Bo?"
Towa's face morphed into a confused one. He tilted his head sideways.
"Bo..."
Visty gritted their teeth.
"Bo...?" Zack smiled at Visty, his eyes glaring daggers at them. "Bo...Bo...BOMB !! THERE'S A BOMB IN YOUR OFFICE, ZACK !"
Towa's eyes widened. "B-bomb ?!"
"BOMB?!" Zack's eye twitched. "Diffuse it now, Visty ! DON'T LET THEM TOUCH MY PRECIOUS MAHOGANY TABLE !"
Zack ran out of the room with Visty in tow.
"Wait! Zack—"
Visty tried to yank their arm off Zack's deathly grip. Kicking and screaming as their boss dragged them down the hallway.
Towa sweatdropped. Ah, the El in him actually snickered. That cover up was funny. If there's really a bomb inside Zack's office, he would like to see it.
Alas, Shimazaki Towa is not a sadist who enjoyed their pain and misery. He's an innocent sickly person.
Towa closed the door to his room. He sighed. Honestly, he's glad that Dr. Carl paid his hospital bills.

Or else he would've been left to die there.
Towa realized that his step brother really did go all out for a woman. Even going as far as scouring his bank account.
How did his step brother gotten ahold of his account anyways ?
That's one mystery to solve. El wanted to meet this woman that dared to corrupt his step brother— even if he's a corrupt boy from the start—, even the original owner, Towa, wanted to claw the woman's face until it's only her skull for show.
"A terminal illness..."
He heard two knocks on his door. Towa hurriedly sat on his bed. "C-come in".
The door opened only to reveal Dr. Carl, Nurse Layla, and a girl about his age with black hair.
"Thought so. Hello, Towa" Dr. Carl greeted Towa in his usual monotone voice.
"Dr. Carl, you finally found me" Towa said with a hint of relief in his voice. "Who's that?" He asked.
Nurse Layla turned to the girl behind her, she then guided her so the girl stood in front of Towa's bed.
"This is Miss Lily. She's a well known scientist in our country. Currently researching the cure for a terminal illness...roughly, a year ago"
Dr. Carl urged Lily to introduce herself, the girl avoided Towa's eyes.
"Ah—okay, okay ! I am Lily di Leviathan. Before you ask, uh, No—i mean, Grandpa adopted my Mom and me into his family..." Lily's eyes strayed towards Nurse Layla.
Towa caught her eyes and eye smiled. His gaze softened as his bright blue eyes twinkled. "I see"
"So you hid her from me ?" Towa asked the spectating nurse. Nurse Layla flinched, "Well...I'm sorry. I'm not very open to you, Towa"
Towa's eyes lost its light. He closed his eyws and sighed. "It's okay. Nobody would bother to tell me some facts because i'm going to die anyway. As they say, Ignorance is Bliss"
Nurse Layla panicked, she fidgeted with the hem of her skirt. "No! I forgot that's all ! B-but, some people are uncomfortable to reveal their home lives to another people even though i like you in a short period of time, Towa !"
Towa laughed. Startling the other occupants of his room. "I was just teasing~"
Inside Towa knew, even if Nurse Layla liked him, she didn't trust him yet. As expected from one of Leviathan's family member.
Lily watched Towa's interaction with her Mother. Her eyes narrowed at Towa. "Mother. I prefer you and Dr. Carl to leave me alone with patient Towa" She turned to her Mother with pleading eyes.
Towa raised an eyebrow, confused. But inside, El was narrowing his eyes dangerously at Lily.
What game is she playing at here ?
"Affirmative. Layla, let's continue our work for today" Dr. Carl nodded at Lily as he turned away from Towa, Nurse Layla following closely behind him.

"Don't forget, dinner at 9. Towa, Lily~ please behave yourselves.." Layla waved at Lily and Towa.
She closed the door gently. Leaving only Lily and Towa inside.
Lily turned to Towa her eyes sharpened. "What are you doing ?" She asked. Lily inched closer towards Towa. She grabbed a chair and sat on it.
"What do you mean?" Keeping his confused demeanor on, Towa sweatdropped.
"Stop faking it. I can see you guilt tripping my Mother for real. If you do that again, i won't find a cure for you'
Towa decided, he could only surrender to this girl. Because why not ? So far, Dr. Carl didn't even pick up his weirdness. Well maybe he suspected something was off at the hospital, but now...
Towa will test how much Lily means to him. Is she useful? Useless ?
"Are you sure you'll find that cure ? Many scientists and doctors tried to find the cure for terminal illness. But as the name says, it's terminal. Can't be cured" Towa's gaze held a trace of mischievousness in it.
Lily swallowed her spit. She clenched her fists and looked at Towa straight in the eyes.
"I'll make sure of that. I can always continue my Father's research before he died. He too, researched the cure for terminal illness and almost succeeded"
Towa narrowed his eyes. "You'll only work yourself to death. My time is limited here, i doubt you'll find a cure for me"
Lily smiled. "Unless you do that again, i'll make sure a cure is ready for you before your death date. Believe in me"
"How can i believe in you when your Mother doesn't even believe in me ? Do you even believe in me ?"
"Oh, that's easy. But from you asking me alot of questions regarding the cure, i know you wanna live too, right ?"
Towa scoffed. He let his mask break a little. Lily seemed a bit shocked at his change of demeanor, but expected it nonetheless.
"Trust is not easy"
Lily snickered. "Have you been betrayed before ?" She asked. Lily then covered her mouth, realizing it's a sensitive question.
Towa only chuckled "I.." a memory showed up abruptly, startling Towa that he almost fell out of the bed, if not for Lily catching him on time.
It was...
an unsettling one.
"Towa...?"
Towa blinked out of his stupor. He laughed nervously at Lily. "I-it's nothing..."
Lily's face grew concerned. "I... Shouldn't have asked you that, Towa. I apologize" she bowed her head.
"Ah! Please raise your head, Miss Lily !" Towa sweatdropped. Lily straightened her pose.
She grinned at Towa.
"Call me Lily. I've been calling you Towa all this time too... Sorry.." Her eyes darted over the clock and gasped.
"Dinner ! Ah ! Should i prepare a wheelchair ?!" Lily stood up abruptly, making Towa flinch.
"No ! It's okay! Just.. guide me ?"
Lily stopped panicking and laughed at Towa. "Sure !" She grabbed Towa's arm gently, her other arm slung around his shoulder.
"Thanks"
"No problem"

"They managed to pass our mightiest warrior ?"
The voice rang inside a white hall. The wings on their back flapped restlessly. it was neither a woman nor a man's voice.
They scowled for a second before schooling their features to a calm and collected one.
"It's good that he has a handicap. We can capture him before he remembers.."
"Even worst if that one remembers..."
A man with a black eyepatch and slicked back green hair nodded. In front of them is another hooded figure with two large black wings.
"I agree with you Milord, but eventually, our restraints on him will break" the man with slicked back hair frowned. He turned to the kneeling hooded figure in front of his Lord.
"Please take care of the restraints. we don't want that tragedy to occur in our world, right? Better safe than sorry"
The hooded figure nodded.
"You can stand up now. Return to the second world. You can report your progress in another...2 months. If you must, you can report to me if something urgent happens... You are dismissed" They leaned back on their throne, watching the hooded figure disappear.
He stared at the bloodied figure before him with cloudy eyes. He looked up at the woman towering over him.
"Why ?"
His voice sounded so dry after all that screaming and crying. The woman could only smile. She bent her body to hug the boy.
He wanted to push this woman off of him. He squirmed as she wrapped those loving yet cold arms around his tiny body.
"WHY ?!"
He clawed at her blood stained clothes. He stared at the forgotten knife she once held in her hands.
"...i'm sorry...."
"Y-YOU CAN'T DO THIS ! Y-YOU KNOW I LOVE HIM !"
"...you're so innocent, oh my little boy, i'm so sorry. This man tainted your innocence. I'm so sorry...so...sorry"
"I can't forgive you—After all...this time !" He sniffed. He clawed at her back viciously.
"I don't care if you hate me, my boy...my son....don't worry.... You'll be joining him with Mommy soon..."
His vision soon tainted with black.

A Nation of Distances (possibly a dystopian love story)
Michael lives in a toxic macho world with extreme male hierarchy. When he gets a weird rating that makes his place even more problematic he's forced to choose a fiancée at a Wife School, and he slowly discovers more about the other side of the great divide between the sexes in The Nation. If only the world would stop being so complicated... On the other side there's Megan, who's more interested in books than in marriage, and the unpredictable Eliza who seems to have a connection with Micheal already. Will they be able to cross the distance and become friends against all the rules of their own world, or will they just be crushed? Are positive relationships between men and women even possible? And is there a way to change the world or is that just a naive thought of a silly wimp? 'A Nation of Distances' is a slightly dystopian dialogue-heavy drama set in a low sci-fi future setting about the war between the sexes, disconnect and friendship. The genre will fluctuate in between more slice-of-life parts and soft sci-fi drama with possible romantic elements, with alternating lead and switching perspectives once more of the main characters are established. Content Warning: Certain concepts and scenes might be disturbing and/or triggering to some, even though the story itself won't be extremely heavy most of the time. Sexism as a double-edged sword destructive to both sexes is an important part of the story, but so is friendship.Note that all descriptions of persons and places are purely fictional and made up by the writer, and any resemblance with anything in the real world is a coincidence, since the real world is not supposed to be dystopian anyway!

The Epiphany Colony
Brad Asher has been a private detective on the Epiphany Colony orbiting Mars for about a year before stumbling into a conspiracy that threatens the safety and stability of the colony. Note that the story here is the first draft and has a lot of ideas, characters, and plotlines that I ended up dropping in the final version that I released here currently available on Kindle Unlimited. The entire second half was restructured, as I ended up not being satisfied with some of the things that I introduced and felt like it had strayed too far from my initial vision of a space-based detective noir story.
