《Steal The Male Lead》6.13

Wen Zhuhei's eyes glossed over as he began searching through the faces of the people that he was now just meeting. He needed to find Lu Hongxue first, and then get some information from her. Knowing her, she would've had some information prepared ahead of time.
From the corner of his eye, he could see Chen Shujin still speaking to Wu Louyang and some other men now. He held his normal piercing cold face even as everyone seemingly smiled and spoke. Wen Zhuhei could feel a stifling feeling in his heart that he fought against. Maybe he shouldn't have returned so soon. He wasn't able to control his feelings yet, it made it harder now that he was in front of the man.
Just then, a man stopped him in his path. Wen Zhuhei looked towards the man with a smile even as his eyes turned a bit cold.
"Mr. Qi, what matters do you wish to speak about with me?" Wen Zhuhei asked with a kind smile on his face, hiding the dark emotions in his eye.
"Mr. Wen, I have heard about your name as a youth who surpasses even geniuses that are widely spoken about. I wish to cooperate with you and introduce you to my son." Qi Beilu did not notice that Wen Zhuhei's words did not meet his emotions.
Wen Zhuhei didn't change his expression, even as his heart was cold on the surface when thinking that there were some hunters here who were trying to attack Chen Shujin. Hearing Qi Beilu's words, he merely kept the smile on his face.
"Mr. Qi, thank you for your words, but I have just returned back to Jiibeng. While those words are something that I will thank you for, I will spend a few days getting used to Achin first." Saying this, Wen Zhuhei began reaching for his ring as he spotted Lu Hongxue from the corner of his eyes speaking with Li Yinlui.
"Ah, Mr. Wen, but you will want to agree. I have gathered some of the most promising youths in Jiibeng, future heirs to the most famous companies." Qi Beilu's lips pulled up, a crafty smile showing.
Wen Zhuhei eyes flashed with a cold light, able to discern that Qi Beilu was trying to pressure him into whatever this was.
"Mr. Qi, let me tell you something." Saying this, Wen Zhuhei looked into Qi Beilu's eyes, his finger rubbing his ring.
Qi Beilu still had a smile on his face, only now, his eyes were glossed over as he awaited Wen Zhuhei's words.
Wen Zhuhei made sure that no one was near them and that no eyes were on them. Everyone was now focusing on a singer on stage or either talking with one another so Wen Zhuhei didn't keep up his caution.
"QI Beilu, with your own hands, you will destroy your career by tonight. Now, take your leave from this place." Wen Zhuhei said, his ring suddenly letting out a flash as Qi Beilu nodded his hand.
Walking away, Qi Beilu's eyes were still a bit cloudy but it was not noticeable. With just that, he left the banquet. Even as everyone asked where he would be going, he merely replied that he did not feel well.
Wen Zhuhei walked away, his target was a young man. A waiter who had been sneaking rather close to Chen Shujin, Shu Hezhen and even Li Yinlui. It didn't take much for Wen Zhuhei to know that something was up with that man, or that his actions were suspicious to say the least.

With his focus on the waiter, Wen Zhuhei walked towards him, showing a polite smile as he asked, "Excuse me, I'm feeling a bit ill. Is it alright for you to help take me to the restroom?" Saying this, he made sure to look at the waiter's eyes, his hand not moving from his ring.
The waiter's eyes shook a bit but he didn't break out, nodding his head as he put down the tray he held on a table. "Let me help you, Sir."
Wen Zhuhei followed after the waiter as the man began leading him away from the crowd. Even with the waiter turned away from him, he kept a light smile on his face so that no one would notice that something felt amiss.
The waiter stopped as he pointed into a corridor and said, "Sir, simply turn right and you will reach the restroom."
In the place that they were in, there was no noise, only silence.
Wen Zhuhei looked at the man's eyes, his own eyes glinted as he ordered, "Come with me."
The man froze, his eyes frozen over as he followed Wen Zhuhei's lead as they walked inside the corridor and into the restroom. Wen Zhuhei locked the door, his eyes cold as he looked at the man and nonchalantly rubbed his ring, looking at the man's eyes.
"Name?"
The man didn't hesitate as he replied, "Tang Wuyuan."
"How high is your rank as a vampire hunter?" Wen Zhuhei asked, as he now sneered, walking closer to Tang Wuyuan.
"I am a Faker." Tang Wuyuan's eyes were glazed over, almost lifeless. He didn't hide anything as he repeated the answer to everything that Wen Zhuhei asked.
"A faker... How many of you are here?" Wen Zhuhei had read the information about them hence he knew what was going on now.
"Five."
"And who are your targets?"
"Potential vampires, Chen Shujin, Li Yinlui, and Shu Hezhen."
Wen Zhuhei had known that they were targeting Chen Shujin, but hearing the answer himself, his heart turned even colder. A smirk appeared on his face as his eyes glowed with crimson in it.
"Send a message to all the Fakers here and tell them to meet here." Wen Zhuhei needed to get rid of them all at once.
"Yes," Tang Wuyuan reached for a device that looked similar to a phone but was built specifically for the hunters. He typed the message to them and looked up at Wen Zhuhei, awaiting the next orders.
"Once everyone arrives, kill them all. After you've done that, get rid of their bodies and return back to your headquarters. Once you arrive back at your headquarter, bomb the place and kill yourself in the fire." Wen Zhuhei ordered as he then started to step out of the restroom.
Tang Wuyuan's eyes cleared a bit, but it was not enough to fight back against the order. He stood in the same place, awaiting the demise of his teammates.
As Wen Zhuhei walked out, he restored a kind look into his eyes and a light smile on his face, his aura changing drastically. Now, everything should be clear for Chen Shujin.
As he left the restroom, he didn't notice the presence of a man hiding behind the corridor, a phone in his hands. With calm eyes showing no ripples, the man watched as Wen Zhuhei stepped out before he let out a smirk. Then, he fixed his suit as he slipped away without Wen Zhuhei knowing, returning back to the banquet and mingling without a chance for Wen Zhuhei to notice his disappearance.

Chen Shujin had watched Wen Zhuhei walk away, following a man who seemed like a waiter. As Chen Shujin kept a cold look on his face, everyone around him began talking about their businesses or their plans, even speaking about the achievements of their children, trying to one up each other.
"Mr. Chen, I heard that you've been in AUS during this time to help your cousin with his study. Now that you have returned back to Achin, do you have any plans for the future of your company?" The man who had asked this was Qian Wuzhuang. He was the head of the Qian family, controlling much of their many businesses ranging from clothing brands to even entertainments.
Qian Wuzhuang was already near thirty, having a wife back at home and was already the father to a one year old boy. As the eldest son to a father who had many wives, it wasn't wrong to say that he had to surpass all those obstacles before finally taking over the family.
"For now, I have no such plans, Mr. Qian. I returned for the sake of my cousin. Since he has already finished his studies, I want him to begin slowly taking over the company." Chen Shujin's facial expression didn't change as he calmly replied to this question.
A man by Qian Wuzhuang smiled, even letting out a boisterous laugh. "It seems like all who are related Mr. Chen are great geniuses. Even President Shu is a great leader and the directors of Chen Corp are fully capable of their roles." This was Zhang Zhuyuan.
Zhang Zhuyuan was a half-blood vampire, having lived in Jiibeng for ten years now, he had fully included himself into the rich families of Achin. Matters were easier since he was also in Chen Shujin's clan and was also helping him in secret.
From the corner of Chen Shujin's eyes, he saw Wen Zhuehi appear again. Wen Zhuhei still had his smile on, a face comparable to the most handsome stars of Jiibeng. Fixing his cuff, Wen Zhuhei caught Chen Shujin's glance and slightly nodded his head.
Although Chen Shujin was a bit curious on what Wen Zhuhei had done, but without Fei Shang helping him now, he wasn't able to get the extra details he would need.
Qian Wuzhuang had caught Chen Shujin's stare and looked back to see Wen Zhuhei who had begun making his way to Lu Hongxue. "That must be Wen Zhuhei, Mr. Chen's cousin. He is certainly spectacular, even his way of carrying himself is different compared to many his age. Have you decided a partner for him?"
Hearing this question that came out of nowhere, Chen Shujin fought the anger that rose in his chest, even as his fangs sharpened. As if that would happen if he was here, anyone who wanted Wen Zhuhei would have to go through him first.
"Once the time comes, he will find his own partner. Such decisions don't belong to me to make." Chen Shujin kept his voice steady.
He already hated Qian Wuzhuang. The man was also crafty and sly for his age, Chen Shujin already began scheming ways to get rid of him behind the scenes. But, knowing that that could reveal his identity, he decided against it. He would be able to use some of these people if he was patient.
Wu Louyang, who had been keeping quiet, let out a sigh when he heard Chen Shujin's words. "What a pity it is then, Mr. Chen. I have a cousin who has just turned 18 years old this month." Saying this, his eyes flickered to Chen Shujin, not masking the ill-intent within his eyes.
Chen Shujin's eyes turned even colder as his lips suddenly turned up into a smirk. "It is a pity, Mr. Wu." Then, looking at all of them, he fixed his tie. "I will have to take my leave first, please enjoy the rest of your night." Saying this in a voice filled with contempt, he didn't wait for an answer as he walked away from them.
Seeing that Chen Shujin had walked away, Qian Wuzhuang looked towards Wu Louyang and Zhang Zhuyuan with a sneer. "It seems like we touched a sore spot of his. What Mr. Chen, Chairman of Chen Corp? Now that he has returned, everyone is eyeing his company, hoping to see it fall into demise."
"I have to give it up to him, he knew fully well what we were trying to do and put a stop to it as soon as he found out." Wu Louyang smirked as he shook his head, a face of arrogance on. "As long as Wen Zhuhei falls for the trap, no matter what Chen Shujin does, it would be too late. People of his age are always curious. No matter who, they will always want to venture."
Zhang Zhuyuan hid the emotions in his eyes as he also said, "Who knows how many have fallen into this hole? Once they take a step in, they will never be able to step out?" With a smirk on, Zhang Zhuyuan hid his lips behind a glass of wine as his eyes lingered on the two humans with emotions that couldn't be specified.
Qian Wuzhuang also snorted, "He should've waited longer before returning. Ever since he built that Chen Corp, he sent away his cousin to escape the messy entangles of the schemes among us. Returning so soon, he will learn to regret it."
"I already have everything prepared. I even have all the pawns ready. As long as they get to Wen Zhuhei, it will be too late. I tested the boy, he seems like a gentle and kind boy, very different compared to Chen Shujin." Wu Louyang brought up.
Zhang Zhuyuan took sip from his cup, eyes flickering unbeknownst to the other two. "We will have to wait and see the results then." Saying this, his eyes flickered to Li Yinlui who nodded with calm eyes.

"If what I did was evil, then what about all these righteous people who killed my parents just to gain this seat? Everyone is evil in their own way. If it takes being evil to seek revenge, then I will toss away all good that I have."
"Maybe I have always been seeking the wrong path my whole life... If I could go back, there would be so much I'd change. If one decision had been different, I would've had the power to stop everything before it came to this point. Before so many innocent people got involved."
"Evil is born from within the heart, no one is born being evil. Before all of this, he was a simple boy who had once loved and trusted without fear. It wasn't him who wanted to change, the world had made him changed. He was rudely awakened to this cruel world and he merely retaliated against it. He may be the villain in other's eyes, but to him, everyone else is also the villain."
"I will carry with me, my endless loyalty towards him. Heavenly Mother of all Beings, thank you for blessing me with another chance to meet him. Even though he will never know who I am, to meet him once more will make me content. I am greedy and selfish, I know too well. But towards him, it is hard to put an end to the feelings within my heart."
"Greed is something that every human has experienced. Even us, deities in the heaven cannot avoid such a thing. When one is willing to finally let go of all greed and selfishness, only then can one repent for their actions. All thoughts are built around desires, it merely takes one second to decide between good and evil."

An Unwilling Monster
In the city of Kholakel, the highlight of the year for the upper classes is the annual monster pacification of the misty woods. Ostensibly it's a culling of the monster population to prevent them encroaching on urban areas, but it's an open secret that it's actually treated as more of a blood sport, the participants competing to score the most kills. After all, why else would the politicians and elites of the city bother to attend personally? Given the intense competition and high-tech weapons and gear in use, one might wonder how the forest has not yet been completely depopulated. As this year's culling approaches, a group of unfortunate children are about to discover the answer first-hand, but thanks to an unexpected twist of fate, one of them will score the chance to play the role of the hunter instead of the prey. This was an attempt at writing something darker than my usual fare. The story I actually ended up with isn't as mean to the MC as I'd originally planned out, to the point that I'm not sure the story deserves the horror/grimdark tags anymore, but this is still an unfair world with unambiguously evil antagonists. Chapters are short to start with, but get longer once the first act is over.

A Castle in a Teacup
One might say that to anger forces beyond the ken of fragile breakable mortals is a bad idea, others might say that meddling in dark forces with little chance of gain is also a bad idea, they would both be right by on all counts but they forget to mention also how incredibly stupid combining both of those things are. Stupid people don’t last so long on the mystic side of things, normal folks who wander over to the other side have a tendency to do one of two things, either A. figure out that the best thing to do is keep their head down and not draw attention from any entity that refers to humanity as “you mortals” , or B. something horrifying happens to them. As you may have guessed I fell into the second category, mostly because I thought there was a third option. See I though there must be an option C, an option where I got to end up not as some shitty back ally wizard cowering at the chance of discovery, praying that one of my wards or spells wouldn’t be noticed by something that goes bump in the night. No I would be the one who rose above all that. I would never have to be afraid. Well I made a good attempt at it that’s for damn sure, but unfortunately for me it turns out there is not an option C. At least not for me…
