《Steal The Male Lead》2.12

Daniel turned back to look at Andy. Upon seeing the expression on Andy's face, he couldn't help but freeze. The expression on Andy's face, what could it be described as? It was a face full of regret, but also confusion. Seeing the pain in Andy's eyes, Daniel looked at his hand. Upon seeing the other pair of hands that were covered by a white glove, Daniel grabbed it, pulling it up towards his face.
"Andy Jules, tell me, why are your hands covered? For all these years, why have you never told me who you really were?! If I had knew, I wouldn't have......I wouldn't have gotten together with your brother....I wouldn't have left you alone to carry your burdens, I would've chose to be by you. Why didn't you ever stop, to step up and tell me who you were?" Daniel looked at Andy with red eyes, a glimpse of wetness within them, and his expression was filled with regret too.
Andy turned to look at Daniel's tears expression, his heart tightening.
"I.....I didn't want to destroy your happiness...." Andy said this and looked away, his head confused, and his heart running wild before he calmed himself. It doesn't matter what he saw....Right now, what matters is the present. He had a task he needed to complete, and he was going to do so.
Daniel froze, turning to see Andy's facade that was cold, but slowly cracking. His eyes were honest, showing just how much pain he had suffered through. "Happiness? If you were there, if I had figured out sooner, you would've been my happiness. All I needed was to find out who you were, but like a fool, I wasted away the years we could've spent together. In the end, we met by chance once more, and everything had changed. I was so cruel to you, I loved someone who wasn't you, I let you go through so much pain when I should've stood by you."
Daniel pulled Andy into his embrace, his arms held onto Andy as if he could lose him at any moment. "I.....Why was I so foolish? You still look the same. No matter how cold you have become, how much you tried to hide who you were, I should have known. Yet, back in those high school years, we met so many times and I never recognized who you were. Why was I so dumb and foolish, deceived by someone who had never compared to you? Andy Jules, if I had been with you sooner, would it have lighten your pain?"

Daniel pushed Andy away, taking a look at his expression. Those lovely pair of gray eyes avoided his stare, but even he could tell that they were softening.
Andy's eyes shimmered, his expression slowly letting go of its emotionless mask. "It....it's not your fault. Everything that I went through, it was because of me." He tugged himself out of Daniel's hold, but Daniel wouldn't let go of his hand.
Daniel was definitely shocked by Andy's words, and he scowled, "Your fault? What kind of woman scars a young child, what kind of woman can dare to hurt a child in ways that even an adult wouldn't be subjected to?! In life, what kind of brother can selfishly think only for themselves and try to harm their own brother?! In my life, I would never even think that it is your fault. Andy, open your heart to me, please....let me share your pain, and let me be the one to cure it."
"Daniel, you should return. You've just broken up with my brother, you are probably still in pain over that. Don't push yourself to help me, after all, you love my brother." Andy turned to look up into Daniel's eyes, showing the emotions within them. An emotion that said he knew it was all a lie.
Daniel could see that right away, and he immediately replied, "No. I know if I am hurting, and I should've let him go long ago. Avian and I, we were always a hopeless cause. He and I were a mistake, we weren't meant to be and I was foolish to try and hold on. With you, I know that this was destined. Else, why would we have met when we were so young? It was only because I was blinded that everything had come to this moment. Andy, I know my heart well enough to know that I truly do love you. I....I know everything about you."
Andy's eyes widened in panic. "What, what did you say?" His voice trembled.
"I know everything about your life. From the day you were born to the reason why you always cover your hands with those gloves. Andy, I need to tell you something. Rose isn't your mother, she has never been and she never will be. You aren't related to her, because your mother is already dead. Rose had forced her to her very death. Theo has been trying to find you and reconnect with you ever since you moved away. Your mother and Theo use to be very much in love, but Rose forced herself in between them. That's why she despises you so much." Daniel definitely knew that he shouldn't have said this, that he should've waited to tell, but he knew that he also couldn't wait forever.

Andy froze, his face pale and his body trembled. "You're lying, how do you know?"
Daniel knew that it was hard to believe his words, even he, himself wouldn't have believed. "Andy, come with me, I promise to tell you everything about you and your life. Everything that has been kept hidden since the beginning, the facts that need to be known now. I promise that my words are the truth, and I can promise you that I won't do anything to you. Come with me, Andy."
Andy looked at Daniel, taking a breath to calm himself and he closed his eyes. As he opened them back up, he said, "Okay."
[Male lead's love percentage is at 82%. Host, I wasn't able to find out information from the higher ups, it looks like you will have to find out about this matter yourself.]
(You weren't able to? That's alright, but do you have any clues about this matter? And System, I saw the image of someone I have never seen before in my life. That person....do you know if he has anything to do with me?)
System took a moment to word his answer.
[No, Host. But....rest assure. Once you find out, everything will unravel.]
(Alright then, System. Also, keep monitoring Avian and his every move. I'm busy trying to steal Daniel's heart, but I also need to be wary of Avian for now. After all, that kid's messed up in the head and the heart.)
[Yes, Host. Also, remember, don't get attached. After all, if you do, it will only make it harder for you to complete your missions.]
Andy couldn't help but look at Daniel's contours for a split second.
(I know, System. Someone like me, if I'm able to fall in love, I would be glad myself. In fact, for me, love is merely an infatuation, it is fleeting, and short-lived, something that can never last. But....love does sound beautiful at times.)
[Host, there is a reason for everything. Who knows? Maybe in your past life, you had done something wrong and hurt someone who loved you, maybe that is why you don't understand what it means to love? Or, maybe you were in love with someone so blindly, you made a vow to never fall in love?]
(Ha, that's true. It does seem like something I would do if I fell in love. But then again, I can't imagine myself being a fool in love, that would be a weird picture.)
[Alright then, good luck Host.]
(Thanks.)
Andy let himself be dragged by Daniel as they entered the car. The car ride was silent, an unbearable tension within the small and inclosed space.
"Why.....when did you find out?" Andy's voice broke the cold silence, the atmosphere that seemed like a hidden dagger.
Daniel held the steering wheel tighter within his grasp, his voice almost coming out as a whisper. "When I met you, no, when you visited me for the contract. There was...something about you that felt familiar, and I couldn't pinpoint it right away. But, in the end, I realized who you were. As if I was blinded my whole life, as if I had been forced to put away those memories, everything came back to me like a flood."
"I remembered who you were, every second that we had spent together. I remembered seeing you smile, hearing your bright laughter as you turned to look at me. I remembered thinking, this is the person who I wish to be with for my whole life. But, after that meeting, I never saw you again. In the end, when we met once more, it was like I had forgotten about you. I couldn't recall you, and my mind was in a muddled mess. After breaking ties with Avian, I finally realized who you were."
"Honestly, I regret it very much. I regret the fact that I couldn't find you sooner, that I hadn't reached out to you faster. I regret not meeting you again when we were still so young back then, everything, I wish I could have changed it all. Because, to me, those were the precious years that I could've spent with you instead of a wicked person. But, as just one man, I know that time will never rewind just for me. So, Andy, I have a wish. I want to fix everything, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, fixing every mistake that I have made in my life and relaying it all to you."
"Andy, would you allow me to be the person by your side? Will you give me a second chance to fix my mistakes, will you....allow me another chance to prove myself to you?"

Scorched - The Winter Winds (LitRPG)
Frank Ebner once wanted to save the world. Let the second one be better than the first. On Earth he was a student of... well it hardly matters anymore. It was dying, and he and the rest of his fellows and friends studying how to stave off the end graduated just in time to be told it was too late. That there was not enough time, funds, will, to stop it anymore. That the governments and the worthies of the world had moved from trying to stop it, to surviving the oncoming apocalypse, while blaming each other. That was a world Frank wanted nothing to do with. One riven by wars for places in the Archologies going up, and between them and the dying world they were leaving behind. So when a strange voice offered him a way out, to a world unmarred by the poison killing his? Frank took it. The voyage changed him, made him fit his new world, one of stats and magic. It came with perks, for in passing through their Heavens, they'd been exposed to Divinity, and taken some of the Celestial within them. Heroes now, but there are heroes, and there are Heroes. The nobility of the Empire care only for those who carry blessed bloodlines, and their time to adapt and train up for the new world is limited. Patrons are scarce among those like Frank, with only the base Hero perks, and magic studies expensive and lengthy. Often requiring heavy Oaths to gain the necessary aid to wield mana as a mage. Frank found another way. It nearly cost him his life. Now on the run and burned by the very magic he sought and craved, he is a pilgrim traveling to the The Eternal Tree, font of Perseverance. Frank hopes Ir-karlak will grant him some way to recover from the fires that scorched him. Without snuffing out the embers those fires lit within, for he has learned to harness them and he would not give up magic for the world. *** In the last 21 days, as I update this, I've managed about 18-19 updates. So Scorched should update most days, muse willing. She's fickle, sometimes. Not every day, but most. If there's an update for the day, it will be at 7PM, GMT+2. *[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Actually completed it. :) *
