He didn't deny the accusation nor did he try to redeem himself, he wanted death. After telling Xu Yongheng all the things that he wanted to say, he drunk the bowl of poison.

And as he died, a tear slipped out from the corners of his eyes as he mumbled some words that weren't able to be heard by Xu Yongheng.
