《Walking a fine line✔️》9. Cinderella's shoe

"Rory! June! Over here!"
I turned my head to see Ruben waving wildly with Noah at his side at the edge of the fountain.
"How did he manage to find our room so quickly?" I groaned as we walked over to the boys. I thought we'd have more of a head start on them.
"He's good," June replied, then bumped her hip against mine. "But not as good as us."
I smiled. "We may actually have a worthy competitor for once."
"Are you going to claim the bra?"
"Why would she claim it?" Ruben asked, hearing the end of our conversation.
Noah began laughing. "Griffin found out it was you didn't he?"
I pursed my lips. "He did indeed."
"I still can't believe he acted so quickly," June said.
"Neither."
"Hey! Can someone explain what's going on?" Ruben exclaimed.
"That's my bra." I looked back to my bra displayed on the statue and groaned, it was being photographed left, right, and centre.
"How did he manage to get ahold of your bra?" Noah asked.
I blushed, suddenly realising that Griffin must have gone through all my other bras to find my disney one.
"I'll do you one better, why did he want your bra specifically?" Ruben asked. "I need an explanation of the whole situation."
Quickly June and I explained the whole story to Ruben whose jaw slowly dropped. Noah began laughing again when I got to the chemistry disaster story. "I should have warned you that he was in chemistry."
"You knew!" I exclaimed in playful outrage.
Noah grinned. "And now you do too."
A sudden commotion interrupted our conversation. I looked to the other side of the fountain and saw to my dismay, Griffin standing on the fountain edge with his back turned to us. He waved his arms. "Listen up everybody!"

"What is he doing?" June asked.
Noah shook his head. "No clue."
Griffin pointed to my bra. "I have a message for my Cinderella, wherever she is." I ducked behind Ruben in case Griffin turned around and spotted me. "While our gorgeous stone lady pulls off the shoe quite nicely, I know that she compares nothing to that of the beauty of my Cinderella. I would love to place her shoe back on her foot when she wishes me too."
I pretended to gag. "It's a pass from me."
"Until then, it shall remain here for all to see." Griffin jumped down and walked back to the school with two of his friends, thankfully missing me hiding behind Ruben.
"Are you going to get it back?" Noah asked.
"Of course. But not here in front of everyone. We can't let Griffin have that satisfaction."
"Tonight then?"
I shook my head. "He'll most likely expect that. We'll retrieve it tomorrow evening."
Noah raised his eyebrows. "And in the meantime?"
I grinned. "I knew I'd like you. Tonight we're going to explore the kitchen and its resour—"
"Isn't he just so sweet calling me Cinderella!" A shrill high pitched voice interrupted me. "He is my Prince Charming."
Walking past our small group were two girls. The taller of the two had bleached blonde hair, while the shorter had contrasting dark chestnut coloured hair with pink streaks in.
"She's kinda cute," June whispered to me.
"Which one?"
"The shorter one."
"You should get her number next time you see her."
June winked. "We'll see."
"Brittney and Cora," Noah said, noticing our gaze. "Brittney, the blonde one, is Griffin's most recent ex. Well not even that, one of his two week hookups."

"Ah, poor her," I said.
"Yeah. He broke her heart, yet she still pines after him."
"I gathered." We could still hear Britteny talking about Griffin as her Prince Charming. "What school is she from?"
"Hillcrest, her dad is the headteacher here."
My eyes widened.
"No way," Ruben said.
"Yep," Noah replied before glancing at his watch. "We should probably head inside for our school meeting."
"I'm curious to hear how everybody else has got on," I said.
"I saw the leaderboard an hour ago and currently we're in second place." Ruben told us.
"Who's in first?"
Ruben grimaced. "Our school's favourite nemesis: Beckfall High."
June cracked her knuckles and began marching back to the school. "Let's go guys, the prank war isn't the only thing we need to win."
I shared a smile with the other two before following her.
