《Balance》Chapter 21 ~ Party
Advertisement
Red taillights illuminate my knee-high work boots as I get closer to Blazes' car. I'm still not sure about going to this stupid party, especially after what happened with Hannah, I know she'll be there and so will everyone else who watched it happen. I can already feel the embarrassment creeping in.
I don't regret what I said, it was true and she more than deserved it but I just wish people weren't watching. I'll be known as the girl who went cookoo at a football game.
I open the door to the soft hum of the radio, a gush of warmer air hits my skin and Blaze's minty smell hits my nose. I shuffle into the soft leather sports seat, flattening my skirt so it doesn't rise any higher.
"Hey- why do you look like you're going to work?" Blaze asks wearing a pair of ripped black jeans, a tight black T-shirt and a pair of black converse. His freshly washed hair is combed back slightly but a few strands fall onto his forehead as he rakes his hand through it. He's replaced the rings on his fingers since you can't wear then for football and I can see his leather jacket slung on the backseat. It's so simple but so makes me flutter, I draw my eye to the road ahead to stop myself admiring how well it suits him.
"I uh... have really strict parents, I had to lie. My dress is in my bag." I hold the duffle up and he nods, "I... kinda... well..." He laughs and turns his head away.
"I'm not looking Blondie." He chuckles as my face heats.
"Thanks." I pull the dress out of my bag, keeping my eyes on Blaze, making sure he doesn't turn on the sly. It's already dark outside and so is the car, no passers-by would be able to see in, not that many people are out in this neighbourhood at this time.
I'd ended up picking a cow print bodycon dress I bought years ago but never wore, it's completely strapless and hugs my body. I've never really worn flamboyant clothes since I've never been anywhere that required me to dress in such a manner. The dress stops mid-thigh and makes my boobs look bigger than they actually are.
I wriggle out of my uniform, still watching Blaze who's facing the other way, I struggle getting the dress on in the small space but once It's secured I throw my clothes into the duffle and slip on a pair of white converse, I've been trying to build my strength on pointes again so my feet are a little sore. Then again I don't own any 'nice' heels anyway... much more a trainer girl which doesn't work in my favour height-wise.
"Alright I'm done, you can... uh turn around now," I mumble straightening the dress across my thighs, making sure I could cover a bruise I spotted under the material. Most of them had faded now and I'd used concealer to cover any scars but better safe than sorry.
I turn to find Blazes' piercing eyes scanning the length of my body, not subtly.
"Wow...you look sexy." He nibbles on his lip finally moving his eyes up to meet mine, a small devilish grin running onto his jaw.
I gulp and I'm sure my eyes visible widen since he chuckling and puts the car in gear. I have no idea what to say back to that,
"Oh... uh... thanks... so do you." I blurt out and mentally slap myself in the face! You just told him you thought he was sexy! "I mean... you don't... nope... you do but uh... I didn't mean-"

"Chill butterfly... I know I am, you don't need to tell me." He smirks, making my insides turn to liquid. Cocky ass ego. I refuse to look at him for the rest of the journey, just watching the cars drive past us on the highway. Ocassianly I let my eyes drift to Blaze's hand as he moves the gear stick, the tattoos covering his skin are stopped by a silver watch on his wrist that just make his hands look even bigger.
Eventually, Blaze turns down a residential road lined with the biggest houses I've ever seen, at least three cars sit in each driveway and they all have about fifteen windows on the front.
"Holy-" I press my nose against the window.
"I know right, this is why Rutherford is known for throwing the best partys." Blaze makes me jump.
I'm at least somewhat thankful this isn't a complete strangers party. At least I know Rutherford which eases my anxiety a tiny bit.
The further we get down the street the more thumps can be heard from the heavy bass spilling from the house at the end. Red solo cups and teenagers litter the lawn out the front and lights from the sash windows spill over the rest of the street.
My lungs get tighter looking at Rutherford's massive house, this is a very social, loud thing. I'm not used to this kind of...party. Maybe I should head home.
"It's really not as scary as it looks," Blaze opens my door and I step out reluctantly, the music much louder out here. I feel bad for his neighbours. I think Blaze senses my nervousness, "You'll be fine."
We walk up the front lawn towards the door, the people on the lawn look sceptically at us but all greet Blaze. He just nods his head or raises his hand in response. Even more, people are gawking at us as we reach the porch. Most of the girls are pushing their boobs up in their already short tops and batting their eyelashes at Blaze and the guys they're stood next to look pissed that he's stealing the attention of their 'conquests.' Then the girls partially oranged faces move to me and narrow their eyes.
I keep my eyes on the floor firstly trying not to trip over something stupid and secondly avoiding the deathly stares of Blazes' admirers. I have no idea why they think I'm a threat. I've turned up in converse for christ sake.
I freeze as the front door springs open and reveals the mass of bodies inside the living room.
Massive speakers are stacked at one end of the room and an array of lights bounce across the dancing teenagers in the room. The smell of B.O. and stale, musty beer hits my nose. I almost shrivel in disgust but what really scares me is how dense the crowd is, I'm five foot one at a push and I can't see over even a quarter of these people.
"Stay close to me alright?" Blaze mumbles in my ear, making sure I've understood what he says before he slowly places his hand on my lower back.
My back heats and tingles shoot through my spine, my arms goosebump at his touch, it's so delicate but dominating at the same time.
Blaze moves us into the room and just like school, the bodies part like the Red Sea for him. Many drunk high fives and congratulations for the game and we make it across the dance floor area. I breathe a sigh of relief happy I wasn't trampled on and made into a pancake.

Blaze steers me off in the direction of a wide, modern furnished kitchen. Liquor bottles line the counters and random cups of liquid are spilt across the floor. A group of students occupy the space, a few of the football team and cheer team. Amongst them are our friends, drinking around the kitchen island.
"Hey Badass!" Brady hollers, making our presence known to the group, I scowl at the nickname as we join them around the countertop.
Vixxie slings her arm around my shoulder, the smell of alcohol obvious as she slurs, "Hey bestie." I giggle at her and so does Carrie who seems much soberer.
"Atlas..." Emily says from across the island, Rutherford's stood behind her with his arms wrapped around her shoulders, "I never really thanked you for what you said to Hannah, what you did was really cool, someone needed to put her in her place and I'm grateful it was you." Everyone looks at me with smiles on their face... well my friends anyway. The cheerleaders and football players just look bored.
"Oh... I.. uh... don't sweat it, I-I couldn't just stand there and let her say that to you."
"It was such a surprise though, it's all people are talking about," Ethan beams. "Next time you're going to go off, tell me first so I can film it." I guess that explains all the sceptic stares. I groan, I didn't want to draw attention to myself and that's all I've frigging done!
"It's not a bad thing, some people have got mad respect for you...others..." Brady starts but Carrie gives him a subtle shove as if to say don't tell her.
"Others what?" I say slightly forcefully. The group exchange looks, Bradey rubs the nape of his neck.
"Well others took Hannahs side since... you slapped her first." My heart immediately drops, I agree, I shouldn't have slapped her. I really hate violence obviously and I'd never ever wanted to be labelled as someone who is. Are people going to think I'm this vicious bitch who'd rather slap people than talk to someone?
"Hey, don't worry about them, you stood up for your friends and refused to take shit. Be proud of yourself Blondie. These people are just too brainwashed by Hannah and her 'popularity' to realise she's a nasty bitch. I won't let any of them hurt you." Blaze murmurs in my ear warming my heart, the sincerity and care in his voice turning me inside out. I smile slightly at him, thankfully. Rutherford holds up two unopened beer bottles.
"Driving." Blaze shakes his head.
"Atlas." I look at the bottle, tempted but think against it.
"I'm good for the minute." I smile, if I get home and my parents are still up I'll be in so much trouble if they can smell I've been drinking. I'm also not much of a big drinker.
"We're just about to play." Carrie says placing a rectangle box on the counter and tipping out wooden Jenga blocks, the boys start to assemble a tower.
"Jenga?" I ask confused, why are we playing a kids game at a party? is this what the high school norm is?
"Ah, not just any Jenga, drunk Jenga. Each block has something on it, you either do what it says or take three shots. If you're driving you just take shots of something non-alcoholic- boring but don't drink and drive kids." Rutherford explains as the tower is erected. Emily grabs a bottle of unopened tequila from one of the cupboards and a few shot glasses placing them next to the Jenga tower. Ethan declares he wants to go first and places his red solo cup down on the counter, his fingers stretched out to take a block out of the tower.
"Gender Bender." He reads, Blaze tells me he has to choose someone of the opposite sex to swap a piece of clothing with, or they both take two shots. Ethan looks menacingly around the table but we all know who he's going for. He pulls his shirt over his head in one swift movement, all the girls around the table swoon. There's no denying he's attractive, his abs shine under the kitchen lights and his arms, aren't as big as Blazes' but they are big.
"Carrie swap shirts with me." He says smugly, Carrie draws her eyes away from his abs.
"Is this just an excuse to see what's underneath?" She giggles.
"Yeah." Ethan winks not even trying to deny his ulterior motive and her mouth visibly drops, cheeks heating before she slips her shirt over her shoulders and hands it to Ethan who struggles to get it over his broad shoulders. Carrie helps him being careful not to rip it since she kept reminding us it was one of her favourite party shirts.
Ethan looks ridiculous no doubt stretching Carries pink sequin top. We carry on the game, Carrie picks a block out next which says naked double - give two shots to everyone you've seen naked. She bites on her lip with a grin and grabs four shot glasses. Handing two to one of the guys off the football team who takes them with a sheepish smile and two to Brady. Brady knocks them back and we all stare at them.
Brady and Carrie-
"Oh my god. Not like that, he came out of the locker room completely naked when I was walking past." She shakes her head.
"Don't deny you didn't love It." He clenches his fist and kisses his bicep. She gives him a little shove as we all laugh... well all except Ethan who holds a scowl, that makes me laugh.
Vixxie goes next pulling a brick out, nearly falling over because she's already wasted, the block reading sex positions. Before anyone can explain to me whats going on Blaze spins me around, I look petrified but whispers "Trust me?" I nod.
He lifts me onto the island and lays me down, climbing on top of me, I freeze as his arms cage my head a heat rising through my body, the sound of footsteps and items moving is heard behind me, people are squealing and giggling but my eyes are fixed on Blaze... who's on top of me.
"It's the last person into a sex position or left out has to drink." He mummers staring down at me, eyes darker than usual, way more intense, I gulp feeling an aching sensation in my thighs.
A sexy smirk covers his face as I nibble on my bottom lip, my heart thumps against the side of my ribcage, my breathing shallow and I pray he can't see my chest moving so fast since I am way beyond undone at this point. Having sheltered myself from any kind of human interaction these last few years this whole thing has me shaking... but not in the way I thought. I don't flinch in fear, I admire the guy on top of me... my stomach swarming with butterflies.
"Vixxie you were the last. Drink up." Brady shouts sliding three shots across the table, Blaze slowly climbs off me and I immediately miss the warmth of his body above me. He helps me down off the table as I straighten my dress out, avoiding the burning gaze of Carrie and Emily who I can feel smirking at me.
I remove the next block, Kink or drink- reveal my kink or drink.
Honestly, I've never considered myself to have a 'kink' as such and since... I've never actually had sex before I'm not entirely sure how to approach this. It's really not that surprising and I don't think they'd be surprised either but I guess its kind of embarrassing to me... I'm nearly eighteen and most people my age have lost their virginity.
In regards to the kink... we all have stuff we want to try right? I don't think... what I...necessarily want to try is a kink but this whole thing is so embarrassing since everyone is looking at me so-
"Pass me the bottle," I say. Emily slides me the tequila, I pour three shots and throw them down my neck, not stopping to breath and feel the sting, so I didn't vomit after each one. I wince and scrunch my face at the burn cascading down my throat. That is vile.
"That's nasty," I murmur breathing out the remnants of the potent liquid. The group all giggle at my reaction but I can feel Blaze analysing me with a grin smacked on his lips, he slowly moves his gaze, which renders me short of breath, to the block of tiles and picks out, Never have I ever.
"Never have I ever wanted to fuck someone around this table." I focus on his Adam's apple bobbing slowly in his throat instead of on his crude choice of language. A chorus of oos is bouncing off the kitchen tiles between the people I know and people I don't.
Carrie, Ethan, Emily and Rutherford, Brady, a few other people I don't know and Blaze all throw liquid down their throat.
Blaze tips what I presume is Dr Pepper down his throat, his darkening gaze never leaving mine. I swallow thickly... have I wanted to have sex with Blaze... who the hell doesn't... I sigh in defeat and quickly follow suit, letting the liquor slide into my stomach. Nobody says much else, we just end up in a fit of laughter, most of them are pretty obvious, I just hope mine wasn't.
Brady picks out his block, now considerably sloshed... nearly falling onto the tower.
"Underwear share." He slurs with a smile, he has to guess everyone's underwear colour and if it's wrong his has to drink, "Ok then... Ethan... Blue." Ethan chuckles and shakes his head.
"Fuck... I'm better at girls." He snickers taking a shot, "Carrie... pink...probably silk." Her eyes widen, nodding her head, "Vixxie... Black... probably with some purple on them." He chuckles.
"How'd you do that?" Vixxie giggles, Bradys smugness moves onto me.
"Easy... white lace." Brady winks watching my mouth drop open, I nod slowly my face red in contrast to my thong colour... and material choice."
"Mmh, my favourite... you sure know how to impress a guy Blondie." Blaze whispers deeply in my ear, my breath hitching in my throat.

Hey everyone! Just a heads up. I am adding the Traumatising content tag because some parts might be considered as, well, traumatising. I want to point out though, it is not my aim to make a story that focuses on this aspect. Yuki is a college freshman that has been pulled into a fantasy world full of magic and monsters. Without any special talents, at level one, and with only a mere wisp as a companion he will need to figure out how to survive in the hostile environment. As he grows stronger and travels across this new world, he will find friends, make enemies, learn betrayal, overcome obstacles and grow into a hero. Hopefully. His goal? To save a princess, of course. A classic adventure fantasy story set in another world. Cover by the lovely Sara Lucasi Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/saralucasi/
