《Me, Myself, & My Babies》37

My maternity leave was officially over, and I was back at school. The babies were pretty easy to take care of, they slept, ate, needed to ve burped, held, rocked and diapers change. Although, hetting caught up on school was hard because my babies kept waking up most of the night. Then last friday, Darren came over, drunk, and started calling me names.
January, was the same thing, but the babies eyes stayed green. Like Darren's.
My mom had a different job, that made her work during the day, so putting my baby girls in the day care at school was my only option.
I had put both of them in their car seats. They were awake, and looking at me as I was putting together the huge diaper bag I had packed with everything.
I could finally fit in my clothes like before, except they were a little tight.
I put my backpack on and slung the huge diaper bag over my shoulder.
I sighed looking down at the two babies.
"Ready for day care?" I crouched down, smiling at them.
I dressed them in a deep purple onesie that had a pink sparkly crown on the front, that came with matching little pink leggings.
They both had long dark eyelashes and their hair was a sandy color for now.
"I Can't believe you both are three months alreafy" i pulled my hair up in a ponytail as I lifted both car seats.
I walked down the stairs carefully. Lately, ive gotten professional at that.
As soon as we made it down, my mom quickly rushed into her room. She had put on heels and a blazer.
"Let's go" she told me.
I quickly grabbed my girls and headed out the door behind my mom.
It was cool out and felt nice against my bare legs and arms. I took the chance and wore shorts today.

I buckled the girls in the backseat, sitting with them.
The time it took my mom to get me to school was fast. I was nervous, of course the daycare accepted my app, but the thought of bringing them around this much people.
I got my babies out and struggled to carry both car seats on each arm, occasionally looking down at them to see if they were okay. So far they were.
I made it to the entrance when one of the security guards stopped me.
He stopped down to look my babies.
"Identical, huh?" He said in amazement.
"Yeah" i chuckled.
"Well, I'll let you go" he stood up and stepped to the side.
I began to walk towards the Commons, but turned to the left. I walked down the wide hallway, trying to find the day care department.
I found it at the end and went in. The room off to the right said "Child Care" on a printed paper.
I set the girls down, pushed down the handle and gently pushed it open. Hearing giggles of a couple children.
I stopped the door from closing with my foot and picked up my babies.
I walked in and spotted the four ladies in charge. They all spotted me and smiled.
I looked around the big room, the floor was already littered with toys and a little boy with curly blonde hair running around with his mom.
One of the ladies came over with a clipboard and a friendly smile.
"Sign in, and put your babies names and age" I set my girls on the floor and quickly signed us in.
"Vanessa and Lily?" She looked at the clipboard.
"Yeah"
"Okay, well we have that connected room for babies at a younger age, I'll help" she smiled. She grabbed Vanessa's car seat, and I grabbed Lily's.

We entered, and it was so quiet with only two people in this room.
The lady introduced herself and then asked if I had blankets for them.
"Yeah, I do theyre in here" i took the big diaper bag off.
She quickly explained to me how everything here worked. She also told me that they could call me here if my babies are being difficult or fussy. I also needed to come here during my lunch period.
"I'm sorry i made you late, want me to call your teacher?" she asked.
I nodded and set Vanessa and Lily on the plastic covered mattress in the crib they had with their blankets under them. I kissed their foreheads.
"See you, love you" I told my babies before leaving.
I walked out of the department and began my trek down the wide Hall to the other end.

"You guys have me again for second semester, woo" Mr. Mills said unenthusiastically.
I quietly tried walking in but ended up getting stared at by the class.
Mr. Mills saw me, "Glad to have you back" he smiled shortly.
I saw that the desks werent in rows but was set up differently. Half the desks was on one side, and half on the opposite. Facing each other.
I quickly took one next to Naomi on the opposite side of the room where Darren was sitting directly in my line of vision.
He pointed to our side, "Maisie, take this one" my face turned red.
He pointed to the other side, "Darren, since he can't take his eyes off someone" i looked across at Darren with wide eyes.
"Maisie, do you think the government has the right to keep secrets from the people?" Mr. Mills asked.
"No, shouldn't we have the right to know whatever is going on?" I questioned.
"I think theyre allowed to" Darren spoke up, "what if whatever is going on gets out and it cause chaos and recklessness?"
"Well then, maybe they shouldn't be doing anything to cause that" i glared at him. He knew this wasn't about the actual question anymore.
"Maybe they do it to keep us safe" he leaned forward in his chair.
"They lie to keep us safe? Doesn't that just cause more secrecy and less trust?"
"A little white lie doesn't hurt anyone"
"Wouldn't you know" i crossed my arms.
You could feel the tension.
"What?" He asked in disbelief.
"You keep secrets pretty good, and you lie as if it's wired in your brain"
"You want to know why lying isnt so bad?" He challenged me.
"Why?"
"This is getting off-" Mr. Mills was cut off by Darren.
"So we dont hurt people"
"I have a question for you" I learned on my desk, "Why would it ever be okay to do something you need to lie about knowing it'll hurt someone"
Darren stared at me, trying to conjure up an answer.
"Because in that moment you'd have to lie about, you weren't thinking about anyone else but your own pleasure" i angrily answered for Darren as the whole class watched our conflict with interest and disbelief.
It was silent. My heart was beating fast, and I wanted to cry.
"New debate!" Mr. Mills quickly raised his voice.
