Sunday
"Come on, we'll both tell her" Madison assured me.
"What if she kicks me out?" I started to worry.
"Then you can live with me, come on" she started to pull me up off my bed.
I started taking deep breaths.
We both started to descent down the stairs.
My brother and his basketball team were getting ready to leave for his basketball in a little bit.
It was 7 in the evening and my mom was getting ready to go to the basketball game.
Madison and I were going too, so we dressed in our school colors; purple and silver.
I found my mom in her room, which was downstairs. We had to walk past the living room to get to her room. I found her casually watching TV.
"Hey mom, I need to tell you something" I nervously said as Madison was standing beside me for moral support.
"What is it?" She asked concerned.
I had butterflies in my stomach and my palms were sweating.
"I-I made a mistake"
She looked confused.
"Okay so a couple months ago, when I left one night I didn't go to Madison's, I went to a party with one of my friends" I began to explain.
I waited for her response but she just kept looking at me to keep going.
"Anyways, Daniel and I got into a huge argument he left and I felt so careless and mad so I went to the party, drank and-"
"You drank? Maisie, that wasn't wise" she looked more disappointed instead of angry.
"There's more" I bit my lip, "there was this guy, and a few things happened that night and now I'm..." I looked at my stomach scared to even say it.
It was quiet, even my brother and his basketball team couldn't be heard.
"Maisie, having a kid is a huge responsibility" She asked recalling from what I explained earlier
"Yeah" I breathed.
"When did you find out?" She asked.
"Yesterday"
My mom sighed, "it's okay, did you tell the father?"

"No, that's what I was going to do tonight" I figured with my fingers.
"Okay, as long you tell the father. But when this baby is born, it is your responsibility to take care of it, I'll help you with anything you need, but you need to take care of it" she explained.
I smiled, "thanks for understanding mom and not slapping me up"
She got up and pulled me into a hug, "I might just have to slap you everyday" she joked.
I nodded and hugged her back.
"So Maisie is pregnant?" I released mom from our hug and looked behind to see Daniel.
"Yeah" I answered him.
His eyes narrowed, "Who's the father?"
"Can we not talk about this just yet?" I pleaded.
"She's going to tell him he's the father tonight at the game" Madison sighed.
"Uh huh" Daniel left after that.
I looked at my mom, "Madison and I will meet you at the school" I smiled.
We went upstairs to grab our phones and a sweater.
I opened up Facebook and saw Darren was online.
I need to talk to you tonight
I pressed the little blue arrow to send it.
I exited out of the app and locked my phone.
"Ready?"
"Ready" I looked at back at Madison.
"But, I have a craving for a chocolate bar and pickles" I giggled.
"We can buy them at the game, come let's go"
------
We enter the gym where I saw my brothers basketball team doing some shooting drills and the other team doing the same.
I checked my phone and saw I had a message.
He responded.
What is it about?
Can you meet me at the basketball game?
I sent my message.
He was typing.
Yeah, I'll be there with Chance
Who's Chance?
"Do you know who Chance is?" I asked Madison as we sat in the student section of the bleachers.
"Uh, I think he's Darren's best friend or something" she shrugged as she observed the basketball teams.
Ten minutes past and the referee was starting the jump ball.

He tossed it up in the air making the two guys jump up. One of them was Daniel.
Daniel smacked the ball to his team mate and they dribbled their way down the court passing and doing their game plays.
"Hey" I jumped at the voice and looked to my left to see Darren and Chance. Chance was the guy at the party who went against Briana in taking shots and who also told me I can "take fireball like a champ".
"Hey"
"What do you need to talk about?" He asked. His green-blue eyes looking behind me at Madison who was clearly interested in the game.
"Uh, remember the party?" Chance must of heard me because he looked at me too.
"Yeah"
"Well, um something's happened.." I quietly said.
"What?" He looks confused.
"A little bump in the road" Madison giggled at her own pun while I glared at her.
He looked so confused.
"The condom must've broke" I finally said while Chances eyes widen. It took Darren a few minites before processing what I meant.
He nodded, "Look, I'm not ready to be a dad"
"I know, I'm not ready to be a mom but look what's happening"
"I'm sorry, but I can't be in the baby's life, I'll help through the pregnancy but I can't raise a kid"
"What?" I said furiously, I shook my head in disapproval, "but my mom wants to talk to your mom"
"We have to keep this on the down low, nobody can know" he looked way serious than he ever has.
"Why? Is not going to be long when I start showing"
"I just can't let anyone know I'm the father"
What? He seriously doesn't want anyone to know he's the father?
"You're such a douche" I rolled my eyes.
I got up and started to leave.
I was almost out of the gym doors until I felt someone turn me around.
I looked at Darren, "I'm sorry, but I just can't- it's just that- it's hard to explain" he sighed defeated.
I heard the whistle being blown and looked over Darren's shoulder to see an angry looking Daniel marching our way.
"Oh no" I said under my breath.
Darren turned around to be face to face with Daniel.
"So, your the one who got my little sister pregnant?" He asked.
"Yeah"
"You're lucky we're at a basketball game or else i would've-"
"Daniel, please" I pleaded.
He looked at me for a bit like he was debating something, then looked at Darren, "Listen here, you're supporting her through this, that includes going to her appointments with us, buying what the baby needs, and being in this baby's life" Daniel simply explained.
"Okay" Darren shrugged.
Daniel jogged back over to his team.
"That was scary" Darren breathed out.
"Yeah" I giggled.
"Is he always like this?"
"Nah, he's only protective of me if it involves boys and those cheerleaders" I shivered looking at them.
"I get it, so when's your first appointment?" He asked.
"I don't know, I found out I was pregnant yesterday" I shrugged. I saw a group of girls walk by.
"What grade are you in?" Darren asked.
"Tenth" I replied.
"Oh" was all he said. He must be thinking he messed up considering he's a junior.
"Don't worry, I won't ruin your reputation" I started walking out of the gym to go outside.
"Hold on, how far are you?" I heard Darren behind me.
I sat on the little patch of grass by the sidewalk.
"2 months"
"Wow, so I really got you pregnant" he stated baffled.
"Yeah" I looked at the sky to see it have a pink and purple color from the sunsetting.
"Do you have names picked?" He looked over at me.
"Not really"
"Give him a cool name like Royal or Zeke or even better, " he suggested, "Zane"
"What makes you think I'm keeping it..." I talked while picking out handfuls of grass.
"Because you're too down to earth to do that" he got up and walked back inside.
He took the news surprisingly well.
