《Our Little Moon》🌑 Prologue 🌙

"Mama wake up." I muttered as tears flow down to my red cheeks. My eyes were so red right now because I cried a lot since I saw her fell down to our floor.
I don't want to admit it, but I know why she fell down. Then another fat tears burst out from my eyes.
She's not moving and when I placed my fingers in between her nose and mouth, I can't feel any air that coming out. I pressed my ear on her chest and couldn't feel as well her heart's beating, the up and down of her chest.
"Please mama, don't leave me yet. I need you." I cried out while my arms wrapped around her tiny neck as I sob silently.
I don't know for how long I've been crying but my eyes stop from creating tears and I am glad because I don't want to lose more water from my body.
I'm so thirsty and exhausted, but I have to do something.
Something very important.
Slowly, my eyes glanced back at my kind mother before I get up and rushed towards our room. I pulled out a photo under our old bed and look at the back of it. My eyes look around inside our room to check where is my mommy's phone, and when I saw it on top of the table, I smile.
My legs quickly run towards the table and grab the phone. I swipe it to open and dial directly the number that written at the back of the photo.
I mumble all the numbers while dialing it and once it's completed, I press softly the 'call' button and I heard the ring.
It takes few rings before it was answered, and I got nervous when I heard his voice but I have to do this.

'Luna, be brave.' I said mentally.
"Hello." He repeated and I could tell you that legs almost shake like a tasty gello.
Why he sounds so scary?
But he won't get mad at me, right?
Right.
"Uhm, am I speaking to Ares De Luca?" I asked softly but clearly. Even I'm five years old, my mommy taught me how to speak fluent in english. She never talk to me in babyish tone which was good because I can't stutter especially with this kind of situation.
", how did you get this number and knew my name?" He spoke sternly.
Jackpot! As I dance mentally.
So I'm talking to the correct person and the only person that I need right now.
"Uhm, I'll answer you later. By the way this is Luna, your little sister." I say like the way it should be said and suddenly, there was silence on the other line and the only sound that I could hear is his heavy breathing.
"Inhale, exhale." I muttered and I know that he heard me. That's the words that my mommy used to say when my ashma attacks.
What if he has ashma too? Oh! he needs someone to stay with him to make him feel better.
"Are you okay?" I ask and I heard him sigh.
"I'm okay kid, and if this some kind of play of yours, go back to your mother and stop calling me." He replied and he sounds mad but I'm not playing!
"I'm not playing and I'm telling the truth. Believe me. I'm so thirsty and so tired, don't you know?" I whined.
"So why not ask your parents to get you some water?" He replied sassily.
"My Mommy was on the floor and she's dead. That's why I called you because you're my brother like she told me. Can you please come here so that I can drink now?" I cried out as I remembered my mommy. Tears begin to fall again but I wiped using the back of my hand and sobs again.

"Stop cryng. Where do you live?" And I'm glad that he asks gently this time. I hum on his words before I dictate our address. We just moved here recently and I don't know what time he could come here.
"Your house is so near." He mumbled and told me to wait for him. I muttered thanks and close the phone.
I want to pat my head because I know I did a very good job, but I can't because of my mommy. There is no place to praise myself for now for I just lost my loving mother.
I walk towards our kitchen to take some water on the sink. Reaching the glass is hard but in the end, I did it. Usually mommy helps me but now that she's gone I have to do it by myself.
The cold but not so tasty water quenched my thirst and I feel better immediately. Closing my eyes, I pray that Ares will come to take me in and hope that everything will be all right.

Until You Do It Right
The world ended on December thirty-first of the year two thousand and twenty, precisely at the stroke of midnight. The human race began to be systematically exterminated by the spawn of the System. We were given a chance to defeat them, to take back our place at the top of the food chain. We failed. The first to perish were those who bravely rebelled. The soldiers. The defenders. One by one, they fell. In their final moments, they begged for aid. Nobody replied. The next to succumb were those who feebly cowered. The deniers. The leeches. Together, they fell. In their final moments, they cried out into the darkness. Countless voices replied in kind. The last to decline were those who shamelessly ran. The deserters. The cowardly. Alone, they fell. In their final moments, they whimpered quietly. There was nobody left to answer. The final human to die was a survivor. A runner. As he died, he begged for salvation. His prayers were answered. He was offered a chance to save himself, along with all of humanity, and he took it. This is his story. “I sat in the dark and thought: There’s no big apocalypse. Just an endless procession of little ones.”― Neil Gaiman, Signal to Noise. I am absolutely new to writing and will take any and all constructive criticism. Please give feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I will update the tags as they change, and I hope that you enjoy this little story I'm writing! Quick warning: Seamus is intentionally a flawed character, and this story is going to explore those flaws and perhaps even change a few of them. I do not agree with all of his actions, but it is what it is.
