《Toxic》This Is What She Wants

-From Joker's POV-
He had showed up about 20 minutes ago and of course I had a waiter fix him whatever drink he asked for. When Y/n came out of the backroom, I noticed two henchmen go back there and she came out with bloodied gloves, knees, and heels. Good, she killed him. I smiled at her and when she noticed who I was sitting with, she smiled back and joined us. "So glad you could make it." she says to her dad. He smiles back at her.
"Doing business, were you?" he points at her bloodied satin gloves. She slides them off and sets them down in the seat next to her.
"Of course. Working with J is so much easier. His men clean up the mess and I get the fun part." she says as she waves over and orders a drink.
"She's quite the assassin." I chime in.
"She's a Zsasz. What else is there to expect?" he laughs and Y/n and I join in.
"Well today, the underworld was introduced to Magenta." she explains to him. "I figured it would get the stupid bat to hop off my back for just one minute. I mean, I go into Gotham to visit my old man and he catches wind?? I didn't even do anything illegal while visiting." Y/n whines.
"He's been losing his touch. Lately he's been chasing after that one girl with the two pigtails." he says with a sigh. No. Not the two pigtails. I feel the smile of amusement on my face quickly drop.
"A girl?" Y/n asks. Victor nods.
"Pink and blue seem to be her colors? Calls everyone 'puddin'?" he says again.
"Harley Quinn." I say dryly. He tilts his head and points at me.
"Mhm. Bingo! She's been doing a lot of pointless tagging on different banks lately. A couple of them have been bloodbaths." he explains. Harley was dumb. Of course it was pointless. "Why? Do you know her?" he asks me.

"Something like that." I say uncomfortably. I glance over at Y/n who remains silent. She just takes a sip of her drink and carefully watches the interaction between her father and I.
"Word is she's the one who got you out of Arkham because of Stockholm Syndrome." he says. Is this what meeting your girlfriend's dad was like?? Well, no. Doll face wasn't my girlfriend. Just a business partner. I take a deep breath as I prepare to answer.
"Harley is an ex. She was easy to manipulate and she followed me around like a puppy and did whatever bidding I asked her to. After awhile, she finally caught on that I would never love her and let it go." I grumble out. His brow lifts slightly.
"Hm. Forgive me for asking but you don't plan on doing this to Y/n, do you?" he asks. Before I can even chime in, Y/n pipes up.
"As if. I'm too smart to be manipulated in the first place. And we're not a thing." she says. Ouch. I mean, I know I just acknowledged she's not my girlfriend, but those words leaving her lips just burn. Were we really not a thing? Did she consider us to be nothing?? Nothing more than business partners? Nothing more, at all, even after last night? I quickly shake the thoughts from my head.
"I would never. Y/n is an equal to me. Harley was merely a pet." I say flatly. He smiles in approval.
"Glad to hear. Sorry for going all 'protective dad' on you. It's just the mode I go into when I clock out of 'assassin-dad' for the day." he says with a smile and I smile back.
"No, of course." I say. He looks at Y/n and then back to me before standing up.
"Well, I'm going home now. But it was a pleasure to see you're enjoying yourself." he says to Y/n who shakes his hand and then waves a waiter over to request something. "And to finally meet you." he says as he stretches his hand out to me. I take it and then he tightens his grip and leans in slightly. "I hate sentimentals so I'll get right to it. If you turn her into another Harley, I have to stab you." he whispered. He pulled back and smiled. "Now, I'll be on my way." he says before turning and leaving. I look back to Y/n who was just blankly staring at her gloves.

"That stupid bastard bled all over them!" she says as she shakes her head and lightly slams her hands down into her lap.
"I'll have them cleaned, doll." I tell her.
"No thanks. I'll do it myself. But ugh, what a party pooper he was. He could've at least bled on them later in the night but he ruined my outfit just as the party was getting started." she pouts. Am I going crazy- well, crazier- or was she pushing me away??
"Ready to go home?" I ask her. She thinks for a moment and then nods. And with that, I wave someone over to come clean up the table as Y/n and I make our exit.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sat in my office, looking at the picture of the listing Y/n picked out on my phone when I heard her come in. She had changed into a tank top and sweatpants. She really did look stunning in anything and everything she wore. She had the papers in her hand. She placed them on my desk and sat down in one of the chairs. "So you really want this?" I ask her. She nods slowly.
"It's not personal, J." she assures me. But it sure does feel personal, doll face.
"I never took you for a rancher." I say, in attempt to lighten the mood. She lightly chuckles and pulls her legs up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them.
"I went through a furniture catalog earlier and picked out what I want for the house." she says. She sighs and continues. "Hell, maybe I'll even get horses.".
"Sounds like you're retiring." I say. She shrugs.
"Not retiring. Maybe just going on paid leave. Sometimes I think I might want to dabble in life outside of being a bad ass assassin femme-fatale." she chuckles.
"Finding a hobby, are you?" I ask.
"I plan on it. You should do the same." she gets up to leave. As she gets to the doorway, she turns back to me. "Take care of yourself, J." she closes the door behind her.
To be honest, I didn't want her to leave. She had such a powerful presence and I always felt like everyone around me and who I worked with was never really on my level. But Y/n? Y/n was my match. If anyone was a worthy opponent or equal, it was Y/n. She was a base to my acid. Yet we were still so bad for each other. Why? It doesn't make any sense?? Why did it have to be like this, doll face. I sigh and start making some phone calls for the listing.
This is what she wants.
This is what she wants.
Stop being so selfish, J, this is what she wants.
