《delivery girl》Ch.55

After (Y/N) picked them up it was a tense ride home. (Y/N) had a steady death grip on the wheel as she drove them back to Daniel's mom's house.

Once they pulled up in front of the building, everybody got out of the car and walked into the house. When they were inside (Y/N) led Giovanni towards the old couch in the living room and sat him down.

"You stay here and keep your mouth shut." She said lowly. She turned to look at Jay and Daniel. "You guys go do whatever, I don't really care. Just think about what you did wrong or whatever."

With that she walked back outside and made a call to Huo.

"Come pick up the package. I can't be trusted not to damage it before it gets back to headquarters. I'll send you the pickup address." She said before hanging up, not even giving the boy a chance.

She peaked her head inside the doorway and looked at Giovanni who was still obediently sat on the couch, his hands folded on his lap.

"You have all your stuff?"

"Wouldn't you like to know." He scoffed. His body language had always contradicted his words.

"Good, so you can go sit on the curb until somebody comes to pick you up." She said, ignoring how he didn't answer her question.

"What? You were supposed to protect me too."

"Well, you've made it very obvious you don't want anything to do with me. You should be happy, no?"

"But-"

"Come on, you're a big boy. You can take care of yourself for an hour."

Giovanni stood up and walked towards the door but stopped before he walked out, looming over (Y/N) in attempt to be threatening.

"My mother will love hearing this."

"And she'll love hearing about your nasty drinking habit." (Y/N) shot back. "Don't get bold, I have shit on you too."

Giovanni clamped his lips shut and gave (Y/N) one last glare before going to sit on the sidewalk like the smaller girl had told him to. He was not in the mood to see what she would do if he rested her patience right now.

(Y/N) gave a satisfied nod before walking back inside and finding Daniel in his other body again, bustling about the house.

"Daniel! Good morning." She said happily, relieved to see somebody who hadn't pissed her off in the past 24 hours.

Daniel froze when he heard (Y/N)'s voice.

"Huh?" He said dumbly. 'Wasn't she mad at me?'

"What're you up to?" (Y/N) asked curiously.

'Oh, right. Two bodies.' Daniel remembered.

"Oh, my mom's new sweater has a stain on it, so I'm going to go exchange it for a new one."

"Can I come with?"

"Totally!"

"Nice, I'll drive us."

'Drive us? I thought she rode a bike? And she came here by bus with me and Jay...'

"Oo~ (Y/N) drives?!" Daniel's mother asks excitedly from the other room.

"Is it okay if my mom comes?" Daniel asks with a sheepish laugh.

"Yeah, totally."

Once everybody was ready to go, they walked out to the street (Giovanni was still sitting on the curb) and walked towards the rather nice car.

It was black and relatively expensive, like every car that people in the company drove. Daniel and his mother were in awe when they saw that (Y/N) drove a car like that.

Daniel was surprised when he went to go sit in the front seat but (Y/N) stopped him.

"Sorry bud, your mom gets shotgun today."

"Umm, okay."

Daniel's mom giggled excitedly and hopped into the seat, looking around the modern vehicle in awe. Babbling about how lovely it was throughout the entire ride while Daniel tried to figure it out in the back.

"Oh, (Y/N)! It's lovely! This must have been so expensive~ I'm sure you'll take great care of your future spouse!" She said, turning around to wiggle her eyebrows at Daniel.

Daniel frowned and ignored the comment.

"Yeah, I didn't know you had a car." He said. 'I don't mean to be suspicious... but this is weird.'

"Well, I do now." (Y/N) answered vaguely.

"When did you get it?" Daniel asked.

(Y/N) quietly chuckled and looked at Daniel through the mirror, her mischievous eyes not matching her friendly smile.

"You ask a lot of questions."

Daniel's mother, oblivious to the rising tension, excitedly pointed out that they had arrived.

"You guys go do what you have to, I'll shop around." (Y/N) said as they walked in, holding the door open so the other two could walk in before her.

She walked around the shop, her eye twitched every time the staff members said something that had rude implications. Every time the workers made a comment, (Y/N)'s backpack became a bit heavier.

That was until they accused Daniel and his mother and lying. She walked over to stand behind the both of them, looking particularly intimidating in her business outfit that she had yet to change out of.

"Why would would they lie about that?" She asked.

"Excuse me miss, can I help you with something?" The irritated employee asked through gritted teeth.

"Well, there are customers that try to cheat us."

"What?!" Daniel snapped.

"Oh, but the woman who made an exchange earlier wasn't one of the people who cheats you? How can you tell who cheats? What's the difference?" (Y/N) asked.

Daniel's mother placed a hand on her arm to get her to stop speaking.

"Oh right, we're sorry. It's okay, Daniel. It was too nice to wear anyway. Thank you for your help, (Y/N)."

"Why are you apologizing?" (Y/N) asked, appalled.

"Look, your mom is in agreement. We've seen this case many times before." One of the employees said, barely stifling her giggle.

"Even if you didn't stain it on purpose... It's more likely that you stained-"

"What are you saying?" (Y/N) growled.

"Hey! What's all this fuss about?" A new voice asked. "I told you to be especially careful today, somebody important is here!"

"Ah! Boss!"

Daniel and (Y/N) turned around to find a man in a suit standing beside Jay.

The man in the suit was scolding the two girls while Jay was staring at (Y/N) and Daniel as they stared back in shock.

(Y/N)'s lips twitched with a grin at the shocked reactions of the staff when Jay told Daniel that he only worked there.

As she watched the fake blonde walk away, she called out to him.

"Hey, Jay?"

He turned around at the sound of her voice.

"Get some better employee policies, yeah?"

He grinned and nodded before walking off to do whatever Jay does in his free time.

Once they left the store with the new sweater, they all settled in the car. (Y/N) didn't go to drive back to the house right away, instead choosing to keep her backpack in her lap and turning to face Daniel's mother.

"Miss Park, do you like wearing jewelry?" She asked curiously.

"When I dress up, yes."

"Would you like some jewelry, then?"

"Huh?"

(Y/N) unzipped her backpack and casually dumped out at least fifty dollars worth of jewelry into her lap, all of them still had the tags.

Daniel and his mother's jaws dropped. After a moment of silence, (Y/N) spoke again.

"None of the metals or stones are real, so they won't be worth much if I try to sell 'em. But they still look nice, I figured I'd ask if you wanted them."

Daniel's mother gasped and delicately picked up a sparkly pair of earrings.

"Did you... did you... for me?"

(Y/N) huffed and fought back a blush.

"If they really cared so much about their shitty product, they should have put security tags on it."

Daniel watched the interaction from the back seat and felt a soft smile begin to spread across his lips.

'While what (Y/N) did wasn't exactly right, I appreciate it.'

Idk if you guys noticed or not, but I'm trying to make (Y/N) progressively more talkative throughout the story.
