《delivery girl》Ch.36

🥺🥺
Zack, Daniel, (Y/N) and Vasco were all sitting in a café. (Y/N) had made enough passive aggressive comments about how she wished she had gotten lunch which to make Zack give in.
Daniel thought it would have been a nice lunch with friends, but Zack has gotten into a stare down with a group of guys sitting at another table.
Daniel avoided their eyes while Vasco and (Y/N) enjoyed the treats Zack had payed for without a care in the world.
(Y/N) looked up from her parfait then to Daniel, who had chosen not to get anything. She held a spoonful of yogurt and fruit up to him.
"Want a bite?" She offered.
Daniel shook his head no with a polite smile. 'If I eat right now my nerves might make me puke.'
Zack glanced away from his newfound foe. "Hey, gimme a bite. I payed for it."
"Okay, say ahh." (Y/N) said, holding the spoon up.
'Is she really going to feed him?' Daniel wondered.
"No way, my heart is for Mira." Zack refused stubbornly.
(Y/N) rolled her eyes. "Really? I couldn't have guessed. Now do you want a bite or not?"
Zack suspiciously narrowed his eyes at her before reluctantly opening his mouth.
Daniel watched the exchange with wide eyes, 'No way!!'
(Y/N) jabbed the plastic spoon into Zack's mouth, making him pull back violently coughing.
(Y/N) pulled the spoon back, snickering.
"You sadistic bitch!" Zack said between coughs, small bits of granola coming up with every heave.
"(Y/N), that wasn't very nice." Vasco scolded.
'Was she planning on doing that to me?!' Daniel wondered, glad that he refused her offer.
(Y/N) ignored him at looked at her spoon with disgust. "Gross, now I have to get a new one."
"That's your fault!" Zack hissed.
"Hey, you wanted a bite." (Y/N) shrugged and moved to get up. Before she could walk away from the table, Zack called out to her.
"Be careful, there a lot of arrogant guys in this area." He warned.
"I'm barely going ten feet away."
"I know it's far, but we'll watch over you, (Y/N)." Vasco promises.
The girl in question deadpanned before turning to walk to the small counter. She looked at the disorganized arrangement of plastic utensils, frowning until she found what she was looking for.
She held up the spoon with a small victorious smile, turning around to proudly show off to Daniel. In the process, she bumped her elbow on something, causing her to drop her spoon on the dirty floor.
She turned to glare at what was keeping her from getting back to her food.
"You come here often?" An older man with greasy hair asked with a smile.
"No." She answered shortly. She didn't even bother to continue looking at the man, instead turning to look for another spoon.
"Are you here by yourself?" The man asked, persistently trying to get (Y/N)'s attention.
The girl only shook her head no.
"Well, if your friends are half as cute as you are then I'm in for a treat."
(Y/N) finally found her spoon and looked up at the man. "Depends on what you're into."
She walked back to the table, the man creepily watching her as she went. He looked to see what her cute friends were like and paled when he saw Zack, Vasco and Daniel all staring him down.
When she got back to the table, instead of sitting down and getting back to eating like everyone expected, she pushed her parfait and the spoon to Daniel. Then she walked out of the store.
"(Y/N), where are you going?" Vasco asked.
"We've got company." She explained before walking out the door.
"What?! Do you see the scammers?" Daniel asked nervously. 'I'm not ready to fight!!'
"(Y/N), wait-" Zack stumbled out of his chair to follow after her.
------------------------
"Mira." (Y/N) called, catching the group of three's attention. "What're you doing here?"
"Oh?" Mira perked up and turned around to see the girl walking towards her.
"(Y/N), don't just walk off on your own around here. Wait- Mira?" 'What's Mira doing here?'
"Zack!" Yui said excitedly, walking up to him. Zack just brushed past her and moved to grab Mira's shoulders.
"Why'd you come?" Zack demanded.
"Well... I thought once you're finished we could go to Karaoke." Yui said, growing shy.
"I.. Uh.. You know there's a bookstore here and I needed a book." Mira said, blushing as she crossed her arms and looked away. ".. But will you guys go to karaoke?"
"Oh? Should we? Yeah sure! Let's go later!!" Zack said excitedly.
"There's a reason you're not in the music department, you know." (Y/N) piped up.
Mira giggled while both Yui and Zack glared at her, though Zack's was more lighthearted.
"Mira. I'll buy you food later. Let's eat together."
"Just... us two?"
"Zack!! I will join!!"
"If you order Pizza and I deliver to you, please tip me." (Y/N) requested.
"Found you." A new voice said.
"Here he is, hah."
Zack gulped. 'The guys from the cafe before... Are they following us?'
"Hey, get over here." One said as he cracked his knuckles.
"What are you looking at?"
"Follow me! Let's chat in the alley." The leader snarled, his eye twitching.
'Geez... Not again! Mira is watching!'

"... Zack, again..."
"This is why we don't glare at random strangers." (Y/N) sighed. Zack narrowed his eyes at (Y/N) before turning to the men with a polite smile.
"Haha... I'm not sure what you mean. Maybe you have the wrong guy?"
"Haha, he's peeing his pants."
"Pussy."
'Grrr.'
"Hey, look at that." One of the followers gasped, grabbing the leader's shoulder.
"Those girls are smoking."
"Wow, damn hot."
(Y/N) quickly moved to protectively stand in front of them, glaring. Though with her otherwise 'cutesy' look, it was like a puppy growling.
"Is that their... little sister?"
"She's kinda cute too."
"Dude..."
These guys were clearly new to this scene.
"They're too good for that wimp."
"Mira, it's nothing." Zack tried to defend his good name. Mira remained silent, giving Zack a suspicious look.
"I know, Zack." Yui chirped.
"If Woojin saw them he'd be interested."
"Who's interested?" Yet another approacher asked, waltzing up to the small crowd forming.
"Woojin!"
Namsoo gulped. 'It's him!! He hit me!!'
The red headed male smirked at Namsoo before his eyes landed on (Y/N).
"Cupcake! You're here!" He said excitedly, taking his arm off of his girlfriend's shoulders.
"Boss, you know this kid?"
The red headed male's childish grin dropped when he saw Zack turn to ask (Y/N) if she knew this clown.
"You came with another guy?"
"Zack! He stole the money!" Namsoo screamed.
When Zack turned around to look for who Namsoo was talking about, he was met with a fist to the face.
Zack didn't even have a chance to defend himself, before he knew it he was bleeding on the ground.
Woojin stood over over Zack's form and wolfishly grinned at the four who were behind Zack.
"So you brought friends? For revenge? With this wussy? That's funny."
He dodged a pebble that was thrown at his head.
"Hey! Who are you?! Why did you hit him?!" Mira snapped, crouching over Zack's body. She tried to look tough, even though there were tears running down her face.
'What was (Y/N) even doing with this guy? Her friends are cute... Too bad Haeri is here.' Woojin thought, looking at the girls who were now surrounding Zack.
"Just go back to your alley, Woojin." (Y/N) said plainly, rightly gripping her backpack's straps as she stepped in front of Mira.
"Only if you say please~"
(Y/N) wasn't asking anymore. That was a demand.
Woojin met her cold stare for a moment, a challenging smile on his face. When (Y/N) didn't give in, he gave a humored laugh.
"You're lucky you're cute, Doll. I've got business to attend to, tell your friends not to come back." He said, throwing his arm back over his girlfriend's shoulders and walking off with he rest of his gang.
Mira and Yui were still crying over Zack, Namsoo was watching in shock and (Y/N) was still standing guard, making sure they really left.
"Police!! Police!! Thugs!!" Mira screamed, desperate for help. She only stopped when Zack grabbed her ankle. She looked down at him with wide eyes.
"Don't... Report them..." Zack heaved.
"Zack?!"
"Mira..."
"Even if we do report them, they have Namsoo's address." (Y/N) explained, making the boy in question shudder.
"Are you okay? You're bleeding."
"Mira, you don't like seeing me get beat up, right?" Zack asked.
"Of course! You dummy! Let's go to the hospital!" Mira cried.
"Namsoo... how much time until the meeting?"
"Huh? 20 minutes!"
"This isn't over. I didn't get beat up." Zack said, determined to defend his honor.
"You dummy!! Wahh!!"
"You guys wait in the cafe, this shouldn't be long." Zack said confidently, pointing to where they were earlier.
"I'm going with you." (Y/N) said firmly.
"No, you're not."
"Zack, I really have to be there."
"You're staying here, that's final."
(Y/N) glared, ready to fight for her way. That was until Mira grabbed her hand, looking at (Y/N) with wide, teary puppy eyes.
"Please, (Y/N). I don't want you getting hurt too."
(Y/N) looked from Mira to Zack before sighing for what felt like the hundredth time that day.
"Fine, we'll keep the seats warm for you."
Mira sniffled and grinned.
"Thank you." Zack said, his voice growing hoarse.
They walked into the cafe and took the table and Daniel and Vasco had been sitting at. Everyone was fidgeting nervously while (Y/N) looked out the window. She was waiting for Zack, Daniel and Vasco to be out of sight.
Once they were gone, she got up out of her seat.
"I'm outta here. I'll see you guys around, Okay?" She said.
"(Y/N)..." Mira said suspiciously, not really wanting her to leave.
The girl gave the most comforting smile she could manage. "Don't worry, okay? I'll see you later. Promise." She said, holding up a pinky to Mira.
Mira grinned and wrapped her pinky around (Y/N)'s.
"If you get hurt, I'm breaking your pinky." Mira jokingly threatened. Maybe not jokingly, but that's beside the point.
"Got it." (Y/N) grinned one last time before walking out.
As soon as she was she was outside, (Y/N) pulled out her phone to make a call. She pressed her phone to her ear and impatiently tapped her foot as she waited for an answer. When they picked up she didn't even bother saying hello, getting straight to the point.
"Hey, Huo? How quickly can you get to Gian Station? Those scammer guys just admitted to running a business on our turf."

The Mortal Acts
The Mortal Acts is an epic progression fantasy with a lower focus on training aspects and a great focus on discovering new ways of using powers intelligently. I've always been drawn to stories where characters use their powers creatively to overcome opponents and obstacles, and I think all the possibilities can provide a great playground for twists and turns. It's inspired by a variety of media, including Will Wight's Cradle, Hunter x Hunter, and Bioshock, so if you like the creative power use elements from those, come check it out. This is my first serial, and please feel free to leave comments and feedback. For backstory, behind-the-scenes, and other fun stuff, come chat on my discord! Become a patron to read up to 20 chapters ahead here! Blurb: Riven Morell cuts short his regular life at school and home when his mother falls terminally ill. Desperate to find a cure, he travels to Severance Frontier, a desolate land haunted by hordes of ghosts, witches, and demons collectively called the Deathless. But a miraculous cure doesn’t magically fall into his hands. Things are worse in Severance Frontier than Riven had assumed. Ghosts are banding together into armies, demons are kidnapping anyone who strays out of settlements, and witches are enslaving everyone left and right. Riven, of course, gets embroiled in the mess. Missions to curb the Deathless activity are one thing, but when it starts to look like this is just the beginning of a war that extends beyond the mortal realm, Riven has a hard time focusing on why he came to Severance Frontier in the first place. His mother is inching towards death with every passing day, but if he doesn’t face down the Deathless, what little civilization the Frontier holds will be overrun and destroyed. Thankfully, it looked like the Deathless might just hold the secret of the elusive cure.

The Solstice Wars
In the grey-cloaked cityscape of modern London, student William Whiteswift has two secrets: the Fae walk among humanity, and they are just as vulnerable as us. His childhood was filled with them; they spawned nightmares and episodes, dreams and obsessions. The nightmares remain, of course, but the fae are his normal. Now, he heals them, for William is gifted. When he saves a faerie -- a humanoid fae -- from an injury he can’t explain, William is forced to let her stay. Finally, he may have taken on more than he can handle; Ainsel could uproot his life in seconds. Instead, she cracks a Pandora’s box of mysteries: someone just flipped her home on its head. And because of that, she did something unspeakable. And somehow, she doesn’t want to hurt him. The longer she stays, though, the crueler his nightmares grow. Worse, governments hide secrets, too: they know of faeries. To them, all fae are monsters fueled by solstices and equinoxes. As the autumn equinox approaches, the culling agency COURT hurries to track Ainsel down. With teams across the United Kingdom and Ireland -- iron-strong despite the region’s history -- they are nearing success. A world away, their country wounded, the faerie leaders hunger for justice. In the looming shadows of war and of Ainsel’s mistake, can a human and a faerie protect each other against their own kind? Could their plight mend rifts between bitter nations and bitterer people? Or will it, like past attempts at peace, shatter? Quick note! I hope you all enjoy the Irish (Irish Gaelic) words here and there! All are defined or explained within the text. This is my chance to show off speaking it at least somewhat decently. Still learning. ;D -K
