《delivery girl》Ch.33

"What do you say when you first see her?"
Vasco carefully thought about his answer for a few seconds.
"I love you."
Jace face palmed and groaned, 'It would take a miracle for this date to go well.'
"No, Vasco. You say hello."
Vasco gave a teary sigh and visibly sighed, 'Can I really do this?'
"It's okay! That was a hard one. I'll give you a yes or no question. What do you do if you come across a door?" Jace said quickly, not even giving Vasco a chance to cry. 'The last thing we need right now is a meltdown.'
Vasco only pressed his mouth into a thin line and stared at Jace.
"I don't remember this one..."
Jace squeezed his eyes shut, 'Breathe in, breathe out... breathe in, breathe out...'
Before he could correct his friend, Vasco got a text.
🍓
You're late.
Vasco paled and check the time, 8:32. He gasped and ran out from under the canopy he and Jace were standing under.
"I'm late!"
"Wait! Vasco! Your-" Jace calling out for him was no use, for Vasco was already out of his line of sight. "Hair..."
He sighed again, 'His hair is going to be ruined in the rain. I worked so hard.'
Vasco was panting by the time he found (Y/N). She was frowning and looking around from underneath her umbrella. Before he could reach her in the crowd, she had disappeared.
'I hope she didn't leave, Maybe she thought I wasn't coming?' He spun around, searching the crowd for (Y/N), until he couldn't feel the rain hitting him anymore.
Vasco paused, 'Did it stop raining, just over me...?' He looked up to check the sky, and saw clear plastic with little frogs decorating it.
"Vasco."
He turned around to see (Y/N) holding her umbrella over his head, her hood pulled over her head to protect herself from the rain she had exposed herself to.
"What're you wearing?"
Vasco looked down at what he was wearing. A white button down shirt tucked into dress pants.
"Clothes...?" He tilted his head to the side, not understanding what he had done wrong. 'Jace said this is fine.'
"You wore a suit to a five dollar date." (Y/N) said plainly. He looked at what she was wearing, a dark green hoodie with ripped jeans.
"And you wore white on a rainy day."
You could easily see Vasco's tattoos through his shirt, along with everything else that you wear a shirt to cover.
"Should I go change?"
"No, let's just go in. You'll dry off eventually."
She huddled closer so they could both fit under the umbrella and they both tried their best to shuffle into the arcade. Once they made it to the door Vasco made sure to open the door for (Y/N).
'Jace said to be gentlemanly!'
(Y/N) walked through the door, closing her umbrella once she was inside.
"Thanks. You wait here, I'll be right back."
Vasco watched (Y/N) walk over to a small stand to exchange money for tokens and Vasco stood by the entrance, taking it all in.
The room was dim, the only lighting was coming from the neon glow of the games and black lights, and it smelled like sweaty gamers.
'Is this the kind of thing (Y/N) enjoys?'
The girl walked back over, a cup of golden coins in hand.
"What kind of games do you play?" She asked.

Vasco shrugged. "I don't usually play games."
The girl hummed thoughtfully, looking around at the different options. "You like dogs, right?"
Vasco nodded.
"Follow me." She began to walk away again, Vasco having some difficulty keeping up. He got a few dirty looks when he accidentally bumped shoulders with somebody who was in the middle of a game.
(Y/N) was giving dirty looks as well, glaring at anybody that was looking at Vasco for a bit too long. He was her date.
Finally, at the back of the arcade there was an old looking game with cartoon dogs on the side. 'Puppy Walk'.Vasco gasped excitedly and practically frolicked over to the machine.
"How do I play?!"
(Y/N) bit back a smile and walked up to the side of the machine, looking down at the controls.
"You just have to walk the dogs. Use the joy stick to move up and down to avoid puddles, and this button to jump." She explained, pointing at what she was talking about.
Vasco paused, 'What does any of that even mean...?'
"What?" (Y/N) asked, noticing Vasco's blank expression.
"I'm not sure if I understand."
"Ah, Okay. Scooch." She said, bumping Vasco with her hip to nudge him out of the way so she could stand in front of the game. She put four coins into the slot and some poppy music began to play.
"Watch my hands." She instructed.
Vasco nodded, "Okay."
What (Y/N) wasn't expecting was for Vasco to come up so closely behind her that his chest brushed against her back. She tensed but played with ease.
Until Vasco leaned closer, and she could feel his breath on her cheek, causing her to jump and her character to get hit by a pigeon.
"How do you avoid the birds?"
"Uhhh..." (Y/N) started, quickly stepping to the side to get away from Vasco. "Hit the button below the jump button to duck. It's blue."
Vasco nodded, "Okay."
"I'm gonna take like eight coins and go over there." She said, pointing to an area with a bunch of first person shooter games. "You can have the rest."
Vasco nodded and got to business and (Y/N) walked up to the game that was closest to her. She put in four coins and selected the hardest option.
Once the game started, (Y/N) was so focused on shooting approaching enemies that she didn't hear the intense music from the game, or the whispers of the crowd forming around her.
"She hasn't missed one!"
"She still has full health!"
"How is she only using one hand to hold the gun?!"
"Look at how many points she has."
The girl was determined to win as many tickets, maybe even break the first place holder's record. She was in the middle of taking down the third boss when she was distracted.
"(Y/N)!" Vasco called, causing her to glance away and nearly get bitten by a zombie. The boy was pushing through the crowd, making his was towards his friend.
(Y/N) hummed in response, not looking away from the screen again. Vasco has reached her now, a little too close once again.
"Personal space, Vasco." She lightly scolded. She was busy right now.
"Ah, Sorry." He took a step back, knocking the guy standing behind him off of his feet.
"What's up?" She asked distractedly, not giving Vasco her full attention.
"I used all of my tokens."

(Y/N) looked at him with wide eyes, "What?"
"Watch out!" Somebody in the crowd yelped, and next time (Y/N) looked at the screen she was missing a heart.
"I used all of my tokens." Vasco repeated.
"Already? Wow." (Y/N) huffed, "How many tickets did you win?"
"Six!" Vasco answered proudly.
(Y/N) stopped playing altogether, and looked at Vasco.
"Six?" She repeated. By now she had died and the tickets she had won were coming out of the machine.
"Yup!"
"Nice." (Y/N) complimented. She crouched down to pick up the small mountain of tickets that had piled up on the ground. "Let's turn these in."
Vasco nodded and walked off to the ticket machines, (Y/N) staying back for a few seconds. She picked up the four coins she had left and handed them to a younger looking girl.
"You got next game."
The little girl squealed excitedly, "Thank you!!"
(Y/N) gave the child a small grin and a wink before following after Vasco.
(Y/N) had won 5,000 tickets, and Vasco had his six, and they were about to go to the prize stand.
"Stay here." She said.
"Why?" 'They're my tickets too.'
"It's a surprise." She explained, not having the heart to tell Vasco that he couldn't even get a lollipop with his six tickets.
"You're gonna come back, right?" Vasco asked, just to make sure.
"Uh, Yeah."
"Okay, don't be too long." Vasco said.
"Sure." (Y/N) agreed.
Vasco watched her walk off and stayed standing by the ticket muncher machines. And true to her word, (Y/N) returned a few minutes laterz
With a huge dog plushy in hand.
Vasco's eyes widened and a huge smile spread across his face.
"Wow! How many tickets did that cost?!"
(Y/N) chewed on the gum she had gotten for herself and shrugged.
"For you." She said, handing the dog to Vasco.
"Really?!"
"Yeah."
(Y/N) watched Vasco happily squeeze the stuffed dog to his chest for a few seconds before nodding her head towards the exit.
"Let's go get a snack before we go home."
Vasco nodded and followed (Y/N) out of the arcade. After a few minutes of walking, they made it to a convenience store.
"Hey Daniel." (Y/N) greeted when she walked in.
Daniel, who was starting to get bored, excitedly returned her greeting.
"Hi (Y/N) and..." he watched the second person come in after (Y/N), "Vasco?"
"Hey little guy!"
(Y/N) came up to the counter and placed down a 50 cent pack of ramen on the counter.
"So... what're you two up to?" Daniel asked subtly, 'They couldn't be... could they? No..'
"We're on a date!" Vasco said happily, putting his bag of shrimp flavored chips on the counter next to (Y/N)'s ramen.
'What?!' Daniel looked up at (Y/N), totally shocked. The girl just shrugged and handed Daniel a five.
"I mean, I did buy him at the auction." (Y/N) said. Vasco proudly nodded and the girl shrugged.
(Y/N) opened up her package of ramen and took a bite out of the raw noodles, ignoring Daniel's cringe.
"Don't judge me."
Daniel shakily smiled, "I'm not."
'Of course she would only take him out because she bought him. It was probably out of pity... He doesn't really seem like (Y/N)'s... type. What is (Y/N)'s type, anyways?' Daniel wondered, zoning out a bit.
(Y/N) swallowed the bite she took before waving her hand in front of Daniel's face.
"You there? I need my change."
"O-Oh! Yeah, here." He said, blushing as he handed (Y/N) her change. The girl gave him a concerned look before she shoved her change into her pocket.
"I'll see you around." She said before taking another crunchy bite.
Daniel nodded and watched Vasco follow (Y/N) out of the store.
'Why did that bug me so much?'
(Y/N) and Vasco were back on the sidewalk.
"Well, I had fun. See you on Monday." (Y/N) said, getting ready to walk away.
"Wait!" Vasco called, grabbing her wrist. (Y/N) quickly turned around, snatching her wrist back.
"Let me walk you home." He said.
"I only live like, two blocks away. I'll be fine."
Vasco gave her puppy eyes. "Please? I just want to make sure you make it home okay."
"I just said-"
Vasco didn't listen, instead linking arms with (Y/N). "Lead the way."
The girl rolled her eyes but still began on her way home. As they continued to walk, the alleys got a bit sketchier and the people began to look more dangerous.
"Good thing I walked you home, this is a bad area. How much longer until we get to your house?" Vasco asked.
(Y/N) stopped in front of a complex. "I live here." She said plainly.
"Oh, sorry..."
The girl shrugged. "It's fine, it doesn't look like this during the day." She explained. "Wanna walk me in?"
Vasco nodded, keeping his arm linked with (Y/N)'s as they walked in. She waved at the older looking man sitting at the lobby's desk and walked towards the elevator.
Once they were inside of the small metal box, she gave the wall a little punch to make the doors close, and jammed the button for the second floor.
"You gotta be rough with it." She sheepishly explained, Vasco only nodded in understanding.
He was tense, he had never been in a girl's house before. Would he even go inside? Would he have to give her a hug? Or... kiss her? Or meet her parents? Oh god, he wasn't ready.
(Y/N) led him down a hall and stopped in front of the door. She put her keys in before turning around to face Vasco.
"Uh, thanks for walking me home, even though I said not to."
He didn't answer. 'Do I just go for it...?'
(Y/N) stood there awkwardly, waiting for him to leave. "Do you know how to get to the exit?"
Vasco only stared. 'I think I just go for it...' He began to lean down, his face getting closer to (Y/N)'s.
The girl sunk back, hiding in her hoodie like a turtle going into it's shell. Before Vasco could get too close and anything too disastrous could happen, (Y/N) swung the door open and stumbled in.
"G'night!" She said before slamming the door in Vasco's face and pressing her back to the wood with wide eyes.
Vasco stared at the door, confused. 'Did I do something wrong?'
"Goodnight." He said dejectedly, dragging his feet at he walked away. 'I need to call Jace.'
In the apartment, (Y/N) was still leaning against the door, trying to calm herself down. Holy shit, did Vasco just try to- was she being weird? Did she think wrong?
"Who was that?" Her brother asked, peaking his head down the hallway to look at his sister.
"What are you doing up?" (Y/N) countered, dodging the question.
"It's only ten..." Minseok grumbled.
"Yeah, I was wondering when you'd get home." Huo said with a laugh, walking out of the kitchen with a bowl of cereal. He looked up and was met with a flustered (Y/N).
"I- Holy shit! Are you blushing?!"
