《delivery girl》Ch.22

Music was played for the students from all schools to listen to as they browsed walked through all the different stands.
Every department had different events. The fashion department payed people if they could hit Zack, and if they couldn't they would pay him.
The beauty department had Eli cutting some poor girls' hair, the culinary department had a bakery stand and the animation department had a... gambling booth. Who let these weebs watch Kakegurui?
While they weren't allowed to gamble for real money, they could use chocolate coins.
Their stand was easy to set up, so they were ready for customers first, but nobody came for a while. The student they chose to run the stand sat there, trying not to fall asleep and watching his peers milling around the festival.
Just when he let his eyes slip close, promising himself to only doze for a few minutes, a voice in front of his stand piped up.
"(Y/N), you're good at cards. Let's play this one." A tall, muscled boy with bright green hair said as he looked down at the stand.
The animation student's jaw dropped, as did those of all the girls who walked by. His jaw touched the ground when (Y/N) (L/N) walked up to his side, looking down at the table as well.
He had put a red velvet table cloth over the table, and neatly set out the cards and the chocolate coins for a poker game.
(Y/N) hummed and looked up to the student's eyes, making his face burst into red.
"Nice setup. How much to play?"
"Umm, since you guys are the first to come you can play for free."
The guy with green hair smiled and (Y/N) frowned.
"Thanks, but this isn't a very good way to run your stand." She said taking out her old wallet so she could play.
"No, it's fine! There were a bunch of people here earlier." He lied as he reached for the cards so he could shuffle them.
"I thought you said we were the first ones?" Huo asked with a tilt of his head.
The student didn't answer, too busy with shuffling the cards and sorting out his game plan. He was confident in his skills, but the first game being against two rather intimidating presences was nerve wracking.

"W-What are your names?" He asked, even though he obviously knew who (Y/N) was.
The guy gave a friendly smile, which the student shakily returned.
"I'm Huo and this is (Y/N)."
The student nodded. "Are you both playing?"
"What do you think, (Y/N)? Are you gonna play?"
(Y/N) was staring at the cards and coins on the table. "Nah, I'm not in the mood."
The insanely buff teenager pouted, much to the student's surprise.
"Please? Can we at least play as a team?"
"I said I don't want to play."
"Pretty please? I'll buy you one of those muffins at the bakery stand that you were eyeing."
(Y/N) looked to him at that, narrowing her eyes Huo. "You promise?" Huo have her a toothy grin and nodded excitedly.
She sighed again and looked at the student. "We'll be playing as a team."
The student nodded and pushed a pile of chips and a neat stack of cards across the table to the duo.
"Let's begin."
Huo gave him a toothy grin. "Good luck!"
Throughout the game, the student was appalled at how bold his two opponents were being.
'Did they really just bet all of their chips?!'
(Y/N) whispered something to her companion and pointed at a card. Huo placed down the card (Y/N) pointed at, allowing the student to get a flash what card he had put down.
Huo picked up another card, and now his turn was over. The student smirked and picked up the card Huo put down and slammed his cards on the table.
"Two pair!" He cried out. Two jacks of red hearts and two tens of black diamonds in his pile along with a stray nine.
Huo put his cards on the table and the student choked on his spit.
"Royal flush." (Y/N) announced.
The student was paralyzed. "H-How?"
'How did they beat me? I'm supposed to be the best...'
Huo smiled and used his arms to sweep all the chocolate coins off of the table. "Good game!"
(Y/N) stood up, wiping her palms off on her uniform skirt. "What he said." And walked off, Huo following in tow, throwing chocolate coins in the air and catching them in his mouth as he walked.

(I have no fucking clue how poker works lmao)
Huo bought (Y/N) the muffin as promised, and both teens sat at a picnic table so she could eat in peace.
(Y/N) was enjoying her muffin while Huo bounced his leg, eager to get up and explore the festival again. He was looking at the stands around them and his eyes locked on something in the distance.
"Hey, the auction is starting."
(Y/N) stopped chewing and looked up at Huo.
"Is it really?"
"Yeah."
(Y/N) hopped from her seat and ran to where the stage was.
"I promised Daniel I wouldn't miss it!" She called over her shoulder.
Huo laughed and followed, grabbing the muffin (Y/N) had left behind so she wouldn't whine about not being able to finish it later.
Once they made it to the back of the crowd, neither tried to push through the barrier of screaming girls.
The screaming only grew louder when the announcer made his way to the front of the stage.
"I'm Hwan Kim from the baking department. I'm hosting the show this year. Last year I sold for the highest bid so I'm the MC."
"For this event, girls bid on freshman guys until there is a highest bidder. The winner gets an eight hour date on the day of her choosing. But the girl can't treat the guy like her slave! And dates are at night, so forget that."
The crowd chuckled.
Beom Kim was the first up, being sold for $65.
'That's it?'
The second up was Ho Jeong from the baking department, who was inheriting Hwan Kim's bread knife by the way. He sold for $80.
Eli Jang sold for $500, breaking Hwan Kim's record. In order to buy him a few girls from the beauty department had combined their money.
Next up was Vasco, who stiffly marched onto the stage. The girls immediately began to murmur about how cute he was.
"Wow, look at that body."
"His shoulders are broad."
"Aw, look at that! He's getting red~"
Instead of giving the crowd a charming smile, Vasco's face tensed up from nerves. Which caused him to unintentionally glare at everyone.
The crowd went silent, and Hwan Kim nearly went Vasco off stage. But before he could, a person in the back held up a five dollar bill.
Huo looked from the hand (Y/N) was holding up and down to her face. She refused to meet his eyes.
"Sold for... $5." Hwan Kim said into the microphone. 'That's the lowest bid we've ever gotten...'
Vasco scanned the crowd to see who had bought the date with him. He managed to catch a glimpse of (Y/N) pulling her hand down and handing the bill to a volunteer.
'(Y/N)... thank you for wasting your money on me.' He thought as a single tear running down his cheek. 'You're a true friend.' And with that, he marched back off stage.
Back in the crowd, Huo gave (Y/N) a smug smile and teasingly nudged her with his elbow.
"Who is this Vasco, huh? Why haven't I met him?"
(Y/N) flushed, she wasn't about to admit that she felt bad seeing him left hanging on the stage.
"Don't get any ideas. It was for the charity."
Huo snickered. "You're a tsundere."
(Y/N) scoffed, "You're a weeb."
Turns out Vasco's five dollars wasn't the lowest bid to buy a date, because next up was Yoo Na from the vocal and dance department. Sold for 50 cents.
"Next up is... Fashion Department! Daniel Park!"
The crowd went absolutely bonkers.
"Ohhh!"
"Holy!"
"Who's that?!"
Daniel made sure to relax his face so he wouldn't suffer the same fate as Vasco.
'Well... Vasco got a date with (Y/N), which wouldn't be the end of the world...'
He was going to try and pick (Y/N) out from the crowd to see if she was bidding anything. When he was searching for his friend, he realized just how big the crowd was.
His fists clenched at his sides out of nervousness.
'Uh... I'm... freaking out!'

Prince of Destiny
Karl is the last prince of a royal house that has been overthrown by brutal revolutionaries. Orphaned by the revolutionaries, he was rescued and has been raised in secret by Leevana, a green skinned night-hag, for the past ten years. When Karl turns sixteen and is old enough to embrace his destiny, he and Leevana must set out on a quest to find his royal grandmother. But the depraved new leader of the revolutionaries, Joe Steel, is on their trail... Somewhat inspired by the basic concept of Don Bluth's fairy tale animated feature, purporting to be based on the myths surrounding Anastasia Romanov. I don't think this counts as a fanfiction, because it does not use anyone else's characters and it is in its own self-contained world, but please keep in mind the inspiration. Leevana and Karl are completely original characters, but Joe Steel, the bigger bad, is inspired by Stalin. Maybe let me know if you think it should have a fanfiction tag or not.
