《delivery girl》Ch. 15

It was about a 3 minute ride to the apartment complex where (Y/N) lived.

Zoe decided to wait outside, because (Y/N) promised to be quick and it seemed like a good area.

And remaining true to her word, (Y/N) cane jogging out of the building after no more than two minutes.

They made it to the café around 12:45. While (Y/N) locked up her bike, Zoe went inside and secured them a place in line.

When (Y/N) finally came inside, they were four people away from making it to the front. Zoe grabbed her arm excitedly and pointed to the register.

"(Y/N)-ie, the cashier is super cute! He's been flirting with everybody in line!" Zoe whispered

When the other girl saw the boy, the only reaction she had was saying "Oh."

Zoe stopped and looked up at her and goes "What do you mean, 'Oh'?".

(Y/N) looked at her with a small, amused smile. "You should talk to him when we get up there. Maybe he'll write a heart on your cup if I leave a tip." She teased.

Zoe scoffed. "This isn't about tips, (Y/N). This could be true love!"

(Y/N) playfully rolled her eyes. "Okay, Zoe. Just don't look at the tip jar when we get up there."

"And I'll prove you wrong when we see that he doesn't accept tips!" Zoe said stubbornly, tilting her nose up.

It wasn't long until it was the two girls' turn in line. Zoe rushed forward, eager to interact with the boy and to prove her bestie wrong.

"Good afternoon! Thanks for choosing Star Coffee. How can I help you?" The cashier cheerily repeated the memorized greeting.

"Hi! Can I get a medium mocha frappe with extra whipped cream, please?" Zoe asked, trying to make herself look as cute as possible by widening her eyes and intertwining her hands behind her back.

"Ah, a sweet drink for a sweet girl." The cashier said with a smile that only grew when he heard Zoe giggle. "Anything else?" He asked.

"Yeah, for my friend, just give her a second." Zoe said, motioning towards the taller girl standing behind her.

"Sure!" The cashier chirped. He was ready to make conversation while he was waiting for (Y/N) to order, but he didn't have to wait too long.

"Yeah, I'll take a small cold brew. Black, please." (Y/N) ordered.

Zoe's face scrunched up in disgust at her friend's bitter order.

"Good choice!" The cashier complemented, typing that order in as well. "Will that be all?" He asked again, looking up again at the two girls.

Now (Y/N) was standing in front of him to keep Zoe from paying. She was looking down at Zoe, seeing if the wanted anything else, so the cashier got the perfect view of her side profile.

The cashier gulped and tried to keep his cheeks from growing red.

(Y/N) frowned when Zoe refused to get something to eat, because they hadn't eaten lunch at school.

"Uh, Yeah. Two cake pops please. That'll be it ." (Y/N) said, finalizing the order and reaching to take her well used wallet out of her backpack.

"O-okay. That'll be 20, no, 15 dollars please." The cashier stumbled through the sentence.

(AUTHOR HERE! IM USING US CURRENCY BECAUSE CALCULATIONS ARE HARD)

(Y/N) nodded and slid a twenty dollar bill over the counter. When the cashier handed the receipt and change back to her, their fingers brushed.

Zoe tried not to scream and slapped her arm, and (Y/N)'s nose scrunched in distaste.

"Let's go get a table." She said, taking ahold of Zoe's arm and leading her to a booth by a window.

"Should I talk to the manager?" (Y/N) asked when they sat down.

"What?! No!" Zoe gasped, "Why would you do that? He was totally into you!"

"But he also almost charged me five extra dollars." (Y/N) countered.

Zoe sighed, "Romance is like a butterfly, but you stomp on it like it's a roach."

"Okay, Shakespeare." (Y/N) chuckled.

Just then, a different waiter set their drinks of the table, and Zoe pointed out the cashier watching them from behind the register.

(Y/N) grabbed her plastic cup and her nose scrunched a second time when she saw the phone number scrawled on the side.

"Where's my Raid?" (Y/N) joked.

Zoe kicked her under the table, "You're so mean!"

(Y/N) took a large sip from her drink and sighed when she released her straw. "Ah, a bitter drink for a bitter girl."

Zoe snickered and grabbed a cake pop off of their tray.

"Why would you order that anyways? Black coffee is gross." Zoe asked as she chewed on the baked treat.

"It is pretty gross. I'm more of a tea person, but the matcha latte was like seven bucks. And don't chew with your mouth open." (Y/N) explained, trying to ignore how uncomfortably focused Zoe was on her mouth when she spoke.

Zoe furrowed her eyebrows and finished chewing. When she was done, she asked "Did it hurt?"

"What, when I fell from heaven?" (Y/N) answered without missing a beat.

Zoe laughed and shook her head. "Don't be weird, haha. I'm talking about..." instead of finishing her sentence she opened her mouth and pointed at her tongue.

"Oh. Yeah, it did. Zero out of ten recommend it, it's kinda gross."

Zoe nodded. "I'll keep that in mind."

After that, the flow of conversation wasn't quite as easy, but (Y/N), for once in her life, made an effort to maintain small talk.

After they finished their drinks and Zoe are both cake pops, both of the girls went their separate ways, but not before exchanging numbers.

(Y/N) made sure that Zoe would text her when she got home, and headed home herself.

She got home around 2:45, and the first thing she did was change into more comfortable clothes, paint stained sweatpants and an old sweater that she doesn't know where she got from.

She went to the bathroom and grabbed a hair tie to pull what hair she was able to, and then walked back to her small kitchen.

She connected her phone to the off brand Bluetooth speaker that was sitting on the counter and played the first playlist that popped up and began to put her groceries away.

Once she finished with that, she took out a few pans and ingredients to make dinner. She set all the supplies out in front of her and got to work, quietly humming to herself as she worked.

At 3:15, the apartment door opened and closed, and a few seconds later her younger brother, Minseok, entered the kitchen while animatedly talking to his phone.

"Who are you talking to?" She asked, not looking up from the pan of sizzling vegetables and meat that she was stirring.

"I'm live streaming." He answered, stopping in his tracks and breathing in deeply through his nose. "What are you making? It smells good."

"Chicken curry. And make sure you don't show our address on that thing."

Minseok rolled his eyes as he took a seat at their dining room table. It was a bit small, but perfect for two people. Too bad three people lived in the apartment, 5 on some nights.

"I won't, I'm not stupid, (Y/N)."

The girl huffed a laugh as she shut off the stove and began to put the food into Tupperware containers for later.

"I know you won't, you're a smart cookie." She teased.

"Ugh, can you not call me that while I'm streaming?" Minseok scoffed as he watched his comments blow up with comments about him being a 'smart cookie uwu'.

(Y/N) wipes her hands on a dish towel after putting the still warm containers in the fridge, and walked over to her brother and ruffled his hair rather aggressively.

"Aw, is little peanut embarrassed?" She teased in a baby voice.

Minseok tried to swat her hands away.

"Why are you so weird? Get away! Your hands smell like curry!" He whined.

(Y/N) removed her hands and acted offended.

"They smell like curry that you're going to eat later, whether you like it or not."

"You're weird. I'm going to my room." Minseok said as he grabbed his red backpack that was on the floor and his phone.

"Hey, that's mean! Go to your room!" (Y/N) said jokingly. Instead of an answer she just heard her brother's door close.

She shook her head with a smile and went to wash her hands again, just in case.

After she cleaned up the mess she had made from cooking, she put her books and writing utensil so she could actually study.

At about 8:30 she got a message on her phone.

'Meet me at the bar at 9:00.'

She sighed and packed away all of her supplies before going to her room to get dressed again.

At 8:45 she knocked on her brother's door, and instead of waiting for an answer she opened the door right after knocking on it.

"Hey, I have work tonight, so I'll see you tomorrow morning." She said from the doorway.

"What? I thought they weren't allowed to let students work during exam week." Minseok said, looking up from the laptop that he was doing his own homework on. But when he saw what his sister wasn't wearing the pizza restaurant's uniform, he stopped. "Oh, okay."

His older sister was wearing a black, bleach stained hoodie and a pair of well worn jeans along with a pair of old rain boots with her backpack hung over her shoulder.

"Yeah... so make sure you eat."

"I will."

"If you don't, I'll beat you up. Or feed you to Tiny." She teasingly threatened.

"Yeah, okay." Dae laughed, rolling his eyes. After a few seconds, he stopped laughing. "Be safe, okay?"

(Y/N) gave him a soft smile. "Whatever you say, little man." She looked down at her watch one last time. "Gotta go, see you tomorrow morning."

Minseok watched as his older sister walked out of his room. "Yeah, see ya."

As expected, (Y/N) arrived in the alleyway near the bar at 9:00. Her partner was a few minutes late, so when he did arrive, she narrowed her eyes at him and crossed her arms across her chest.

"You give me times to show up, but never follow them yourself." She snapped.

The green haired boy sheepishly laughed and scratched the back of his neck. "Sorry, got caught up with a few friends."

"You have friends that aren't me?" (Y/N) asked.

"You're not my friend, you're a bully." He pouted.

"I'm allowed to bully people who aren't punctual."

The boy frowned. "I don't see the big deal with me being a few minutes late."

"You and I both have exams coming up. I want to get this done as soon as possible so I can get a few minutes of rest, and the chit chat isn't helping either." She pointed out impatiently.

"Speak for yourself, I dropped out weeks ago."

"You can't legally drop out this year." (Y/N) said, looking up at the green haired boy with a blank look.

"Since when have you cared about legality?" He said with a dramatic scoff.

(Y/N) narrowed her eyes and swatted the side of his head. "You're annoying."

He laughed and rubbed where she hit him "You say that, but you refuse to work with anybody else."

Instead of responding, (Y/N) began walking out of the alley.

"You're just less annoying than everybody else." She said, not turning around.

The guy laughed and jogged after her.

"I think that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me!"
