《Before I Go ✔️》Chapter 35 | Before I Get A Donor

We stand up and I feel Gavin's hand get tighter as we head through the large metal doors. We go into a small room and I grab the ugly gown I'm supposed to change into now. I usually do this in my mother's company but now Gavin's here and I think that would be uncomfortable for the both of them.

I head down the hallway into a bathroom and change in there. When I get back I jump on the bed and wait for my doctor to arrive.

"Hello Alex." Dr Miles enters the room and her eyes stop on Gavin, the only guy in the room. "You must be one of Alex's friends?"

"Boyfriend." Gavin says. I see the slight smile on Dr Miles lips.

"Is that so, I think I remember hearing about you."

I cover my face with my hands and hear Gavin's soft laughter. Could this be anymore embarrassing I was already in a hideous gown what more could they try?

"Is he here to get a blood test?"

I look up at Gavin who's looking back at me.

"Actually I haven't really talked to him about it." I say.

"Oh, well Gavin Alex is in need of a blood donor for her surgery, if you'd like to be tested we just need your ID and a blood sample." Dr Miles says, typing something into her laptop.

"No, I don't want him to be tested." I tell her.

"Surgery? What surgery?" Gavin asks me.

"We need to remove a tumor from her body and in order to do that we need blood."

Gavin looks disappointed, he doesn't look at me. "I'll do it, I'll get tested."

"I said no!" I snap at him. "I don't want his blood."

"He may not be a match." Dr Miles reminds me. "It is always worth a try."

I get off of the table and force him to look at me. "You can't do this for me, it's too much." I almost whisper it. "I won't let you."

Things have only started to get serious in our relationship and now he's willing to give me his blood? What if he wasn't a match? He'd probably start worrying about whether I would be able to get my surgery? If he was a match I'd have a part of him with me forever, what if things don't work out? Now I'm worrying.

"Are you sure about this?" I ask him.

Gavin rolls his eyes at me. "Yes."

I nod my head and Dr Miles leaves the room. Once she comes back she makes Gavin sit down and cleans the area on his arm before she sticks a needle through his vein. She takes a small sample and then puts it away in a bag.

"It should take less than ten minutes to determine the blood type so I will be back shortly." She tells us.

My mother thanks Gavin and then she walks out to go grab a coffee from the snack bar.

"Why didn't you tell me about the surgery or the tumor?" Gavin asks me. I kick my legs as I sit on the bed and shrug my shoulders.

"I was afraid you'd worry." I admit.

"I'd worry yeah but that's because I care about you." Gavin walks over to me. "I'll never stop worrying about you." He presses his forehead against mine and are eyes meet.

He puts a soft kiss to my lips and then pulls away. "You're naked under this?" I see a mischievous smirk forming on his face.

I nod my head then feel him grab my thighs to pull me closer. "My mother and my doctor could be back any minute." I say as he starts kissing my neck. "Gav-" I can't form the right sentence anymore as I feel him gently biting my skin underneath his lips.

"Seriously." I let out a loose laugh and push him away.

He smiles at me and groans. "I told you I'll never be able to stop touching you."

"Okay, just not here."

Are conversation is cut short when my doctor enters the room followed by my mother.

"Test results are in, great news Gavin's blood type is compatible for the surgery which means we can get the surgery done a lot sooner now. How does December twenty-six sound?"

I get dressed and then I meet Gavin and my mother in the lobby.

"Are you going to leave with your mom?" Gavin asks me.

"Hey mom." I say and she turns around to look at me. "I'm gonna go with Gavin if that's alright?"

She nods her head. "Just be home for dinner tonight."

I get into Gavin's car and look at him, I remember whenever we used to go anywhere he'd be on his phone the whole time, now his attention was on me and I didn't mind it.

"Where do you want to go?" He asks.

I wasn't familiar with many places in Westland.

"I haven't been to the mall in a couple years?" I say. I used to love going to Cinnabon but I stopped going there once I was diagnosed. I stopped doing a lot of things.

"Okay then the mall it is." Gavin starts up his car and we arrive there shortly. The mall seemed a lot bigger than I imagined it to be, the parking lot was also filled with cars, the whole town must be here?

"You look nervous? We can go somewhere else?" Gavin says and I start laughing because he never cared for me this much before. It was kinda cute. "What?"

"Relax it's just a lot to take in at first but I'm okay." I say before I pull him with me through the glass doors. It's a lot colder inside here than it is out there I'm glad my sweatshirt and Gavin's hands are enough to keep me warm.

"Come here." Gavin takes me down a large corridor where stores are located on each side, I stare up at the glass ceiling which seems to be the light source. I wasn't wrong about the whole town being here, the aisles were filled with people and children running around everywhere.

What if this wasn't such a good idea? I could get sick with the amount of people here there's bound to be someone with a cold.

No, I needed to enjoy this time, with him.

"What's in here?" I say reading the sign out front that reads "Spencers". As a kid my mother never let me go inside that store and I've been curious about it ever since. It couldn't be that bad?

I hear Gavin laughing behind me as we enter, the first thing I notice is the amount of sex toys on a wall in the back of the store. So that explains it. As we get deeper into the store we're greeted by who I'm guessing to be and employee.

"Hey Gavin." The girl says, the girl has a noticeable amount of piercings and a whole tattoo sleeve on her body, her eyes meet are hands that are intertwined and she gives him a confused look. "Is this your sister?"

"This is my... girlfriend." Gavin tells her, it's probably as weird as it is for me to hear him say that as it is for him to say it.

"Girlfriend?" Her eyes go noticeably wider and then she lets out a laugh as she looks at me. "Kinda innocent looking for a place like this?"

I roll my eyes.

"Have a look around, don't be scared." She chuckles under her breath and I begin walking away.

"Who was that?" I ask Gavin.

"Don't worry about her, she's just and old friend." Gavin says.

"Old friend as in? You guys..."

Gavin's green eyes look at me and he nods his head in reply. I shouldn't feel disgusted by Gavin's past it's a past for a reason, this is now, I was his now.

"Well." I chuckle before grabbing something from one of the shelf's. "I'm not as innocent as she may think."

I walk passed Gavin and meet the girl behind the counter, she raises her eyebrows at me as she sees me place the box of condoms on the register.

"That'll be twelve dollars and thirty-six cents." She tells me, I can see she's annoyed now as Gavin pays for the box, she hands me the bag and I snatch it from her hands. "Have a great day."

"Oh we will." I smile at her and then we walk out of the store.

"Did you see the look on her face?" I laugh in remembrance. "I suppose we'll have to put those to use now?"

Gavin bites his lip at me and pulls me into him I feel his lips leaving a trail of kisses on my cheek to my neck, I never cared for PDA but I couldn't resist him if I tried.

The two of us wander through the mall for and hour longer until we are both ready to leave. On are way out we're greeted by two familiar faces who don't seem exactly happy to see us.

"Hey Ash, Zach." I wave to them but only receive a wave back from Zach as Ash ignores me. He couldn't stay mad at me forever could he? If he could just see Gavin wasn't the type of guy he thought he was maybe he'd actually talk to me again.

"Don't worry about it." Gavin tells me, he probably noticed the frown on my face. I give him a weak smile and we make are way home.

"Be at my door or window by six thirty." I tell Gavin. "You really don't have to do this?"

Gavin sighs. "I'm going your mom seemed so excited and I promise I won't try to punch your dad, at least not tonight." He laughs softly and I playfully punch his chest.

"Okay." I nod my head and stand on my tiptoes to give him one last kiss. I turn my heel and head inside.

"Good your back!" My mom calls from the kitchen. I smell her food cooking on the stove and I'm even surprised to see Peters buttering some bread beside her. "Go get dressed, you should wear that red dress I gave you."

I scrunch up my nose. "Isn't that a little fancy?"

She shakes her head at me. "No I'll be wearing a dress too, you'll look so beautiful in it."

I give in and head up to my room. The dress is already neatly placed on my bed and a pair of heels lay beside it. She really did have this all planned out?

I quickly undress and put on the red dress. For some reason I don't feel as great as I did when I put it on the first time so I decide to curl my hair and add a few touches of makeup. I end the look by putting on my heels and then I turn to look at myself in the mirror.

I do a few weird poses to see how I look in every angle and I'm actually pleased with what I've accomplished. I'm also glad the heels aren't very high either.

Gavin knocks on my window before he enters, I've decided to just keep it unlocked at all times now considering that's his personal entrance to my room.

"Woah, you look..."

I see his Adam's apple bob as he stares at me with hungry eyes. I awkwardly stand there and smile. I only hope I'm not confusing a dream with life?
