《Before I Go ✔️》Chapter 12 | Before I Am Verbally Abused

"You look, happy." My mom says smiling at me from the couch. I haven't moved from here for a while now that I think I've made an indent into the couch by now.
"Well Zach asked if I wanted to hang out and I replied with a yes." I tell her.
"That's great I'll just let you out on one condition." She says almost in a whisper. Was she trying to hide something from me?
"Yeah?" I nod. My mother keeping secrets from me wasn't new and I hated it.
"Gavin is coming over for a while." I watch her grab her bag and coat beside the door. My body shifts to face her with my mouth wide open.
"What? I thought that was over?" I groaned like a child. "Peytons coming over anyway to help me get ready for tonight."
"That's completely fine as long as there are no parties and you stay here." Her voice is more stern as she says that.
"Where are you going?" I queried.
"Well, I've met someone."
"Met someone? Like a boyfriend?"
She nods. "Something like that, he wanted to take me out for lunch."
"Oh well have fun I guess."
*knock* *knock*
I quickly turn back around to face the television when I see Gavin's figure appear in the doorway. I was still mad that he lied to my mother about me being drunk.
"Hello Gavin." I hear her greet.
"Hey Mrs Wood." His voice is deep and I hate that it sounds so darn attractive.
"Thank you for coming again, did you get the money I sent over?"
My head snaps over to look at the two of them. "You're paying him now!" I snap.
"Alex it was just a little money for the help." My mother sighs like she's embarrassed by me. I glare towards Gavin who is smirking at me. "I have to go, call me if you need anything."
There's that damn silence again.
"I see why you need a babysitter now."
I look up at him. "What?" Does he know?
"Because you're a little spoiled brat." I feel the couch sink further in as he collapses beside me.
"That coming from the guy who literally gets everything handed to him." I roll my eyes. "I shouldn't even be listening to you right now." I slam my hands into the pillow beside me.

"See that right there, spoiled brat." He says emphasizing the spoiled part. Gavin chuckles lighting and I can feel his piercing green eyes burning through me. He's just trying to get under my skin and I can't let it get to me.
I wasn't spoiled, sure my mother does everything she can for me because I'm sick but it was because I was all she ever had it was always just the two of us.
"If your only here to verbally abuse me then you can leave." I finally say. I cross my arms over my chest and continue watching TVD.
"Wait can I say one more thing?"
I look over to him raising my eyebrows as I wait for him to respond.
"What's with the nerd glasses?"
Ugh!
We sat in silence for thirty minutes or so and I'd casually glance at Gavin to see his eyes were glued to his phone. I was trying my best not to say anything to provoke him any further. I didn't like him sitting so close, he made me feel vulnerable. I was never so vulnerable and now- I'm not so sure anymore.
"What's the WiFi password my data's running out?" He asks finally putting his phone down.
"I don't know." I shrug. "Can't you use your own WiFi?"
"It doesn't reach here." He sighs, he picks up his phone once and again and then looks back at me with a frown. "Your password is password?"
I shrug once again. "I don't know."
"Well now you do."
*knock* *knock*
I quickly get up and before I can take a step Gavin steps in front of me. "I ordered Chipotle take out."
"Peyton's on her way over, it could be her." I say really hoping it is her so I can escape from the living room.
Gavin smirks and shakes his head, turning his heel he walks toward the door and opens it. A man stands at the door with a bag in his hands.
That's definitely not Peyton. Great.
I collapse on the couch and my head turns to see Gavin holding a bag of Chipotle takeout.
"I'm starving." Gavin smiled menacingly. I roll my eyes in response. I already feel my mouth watering with enjoyment, I was starving and him not even offering to share was the cruelest thing I've ever endured.

"I'd offer you some but my stomachs saying not to." he turns to survey me with a smirk. He collapses on the couch beside me opening up the container.
I stare at Gavin with an icy glare as he takes a bite from the Chipotle bowl. In one swift move I grab the small bag of chips that was resting on the coffee table, only to receive a glare from Gavin before he begins to wrestle me for it.
"You seriously want me to starve to death!?" I shouted as he tried taking the bag from my hands.
"Do you want me to starve?" He adds.
"Asshole." I muttered. Hungry Alex equals angry Alex.
I look into Gavin's eyes as they seem to glisten with excitement while he practically lies on top of me.
"You can have them." He whispered closely. I almost became breathless by this. His lips became inches away from mine making me nervous as I felt my stomach churn and then he pulls away.
"You've already crush the chips." He sighs.
Wow.
"Did I interrupt something?" A voice erupted. I look up to see Peyton.
"Finally you're here." I said getting up from the couch. I can still feel his eyes on me.
"I'll wait for you upstairs to get ready for tonight?"
I nod my head and hear soft laughter coming from Gavin. "Don't tell me you're actually going outside today? I didn't even have to force you? Who made you?"
"No one made me." I roll my eyes. "Zach asked me to hang out with him."
Gavin's eyes narrow at me and he finally stands up that I have to pull my head a lot farther back to look at him. This guy was toontall it hurt my neck. "So he doesn't have to force you but I do?" He looks a little irritated.
"Sorry but Zach doesn't give me a headache whenever he talks to me like you do." I admit laughing.
"You don't even know him."
I cross my arms over my chest. "That's why people go on dates Gavin you should try it sometime."
"I've-" he shakes his head at me. "I don't date, but if I did it wouldn't to be with someone so prudey like you."
"I'm not a prude." I quickly protest.
"Really then tell me what's the worse thing you've ever done?"
I think for a moment. There was this one time I stole a candy bar from the grocery store. But for some reason I feel like that's not what he means.
"I have to get ready." I say changing the subject.
"See your so innocent, too innocent."
"I can take care of myself." I snap.
He raises an eyebrow at me. "Yeah sure that's why I'm your fucking babysitter?"
A part of my really wants to just tell him I'm sick and that if I'm ever alone something bad can happen. That I've been hidden away in here for so long because the outside is poison to me. That he has to put on damn hand sanitizer every time he comes over because I have cancer!
"You are not my babysitter." I shout. "I don't need you just leave."
His eyes turn dark for a moment until he gives me a lopsided smile. "You say that a lot but we both know you don't actually mean it. You need me." His voice becomes softer as he says that last sentence but I can tell he's still mad by the way his fists are clenched. "Have fun Alex."
I frown up at him, confused mostly. Gavin really knew how to make me go crazy and I hated him for that. He walks towards the front door and leaves without another word.
I drag my feet upstairs already feeling exhausted that I might just have to call off this whole thing. "Maybe I can just reschedule." I tell Peyton.
"If you don't want to go I'll happily text Zach for you." She smiles at me. "But if this is about Gavin saying something to change your mind than that's not a good enough reason to cancel."
I cover my face with my hands. This was all his fault. I couldn't let Gavin stop me from going.
I won't.
"Your right, okay." I nod.
Peyton claps her hands together. "Okay let's get you ready."
