《con bravura acceso - twoset one shots》LXIX. violin concerto in a minor by Alexander Glazunov

Sometimes, the cliche and simple things seem more tasteful than a unique and complicated one. Brett Yang had booked a room with two beds only to find that the hotel had mixed it up. Too tired to argue, Eddy Chen just let it be. It was going to be a good night ahead of them. Well, good nights as it becomes a regular thing.
Third Person POV
Brett sighed as they both dragged their suitcases on the hotel hallway. The entire thing was a mishap but Eddy was too tired to argue. He just wanted to sleep while Brett was pretty nervous. Sure, they've shared a bed before. They were younger, though.
It's different if these things happened when you're in love. It wasn't exactly a hopeless case for Brett Yang. Eddy said that he wasn't against the idea of being with Brett, but he needed more time. He went through a break up and needed time to completely get over it. He didn't need Brett to feel like a rebound, so he wanted to make sure of it.
Brett let Eddy go in the bathroom to change and do whatever he needed in order to go to bed. Once Eddy was finished, Brett took his time in the bathroom. He wanted to let Eddy sleep first before coming out. It'll make everything easier than having Eddy awake. Brett just didn't want Eddy to be too aware of his heartbeat.
He quietly went out and to his surprise, he found Eddy still using his phone. Brett really wished he didn't wear his glasses because he saw Eddy staring at a picture of him and his ex. Brett didn't mind waiting for Eddy. He was just glad that Eddy was still as honest now than when they were friends.
Brett doesn't really know what they are now, but he'll just assume that they're still best friends. Maybe he's the only one thinking of complicating it. It was good this way too. He still know where he stands and what the boundaries were. He was stepping exactly at the line, not behind it nor crossing it. Just waiting if he moves backward or forward.
"Brett? Come here, I'm sleepy already." Eddy said, setting his phone down his own side as he lied down under the blanket.
"You didn't have to wait. You should've just slept." Brett said, sitting down on the bed in order to settle under the blankets too.
"I know, but I wouldn't want you to see me drooling or my mouth open or whatever." Eddy said, facing away from Brett.
"You say that as if I haven't seen you slept in flights or other hotel rooms." Brett replied, laughing as he faced away.
This was really tempting. Brett wanted to reach across the field of sheets and empty spaces. He wanted to hold Eddy close and smell him, feel him and his warmth near his own body. It was so goddamn tempting but he needs to stop himself. Wanting never brought him anything good, so he should focus on what he needs.
What Brett needs is to calm his heart down. He needs to get rid of the temptation. He needs to not want Eddy like that. He needs to wait. That's it, Brett needs to wait.

He closed his eyes and tried to sleep. Key word, tried. It's impossible to not feel the warmth that Eddy's body radiated under their share blanket and bed. At least his heartbeat had settled back to its right tempo.
Eddy was turning too much. Not that it bothered Brett, but Brett knew something was troubling Eddy. He needed to ask so, he does.
"You okay?" Brett asked, still not facing Eddy.
"Honestly, no... I can't sleep because I'm overthinking things." Eddy stated with sincerity.
So, it's nice to know I'm not the only one. Brett thought as he urged Eddy to continue.
"Overthinking what?"
"Just things like regrets and all... Well, regrets that I might just do in the future."
Brett turned to Eddy, looking him in the eye. He was glad the the light was dim enough so that Eddy will see enough of him, but not the entirety of him.
"Things like? You regret doing the tour?" Brett asked with no filter.
"No, it's not TwoSet related. I could never have regrets when it came to that... I'm quite in love with the thought of having a dream job that I love and share with people. I'd call it my ikigai." Eddy replied, no hesitation in his voice.
"Then what is it, Eddy?"
"I regret not telling you this earlier on..." Eddy said with a long pause. "I wanted to be with you earlier... I wanted to be with you immediately after I broke up with her but I didn't wanna be unfair. It's not right, is it? Just asking you to heal my broken heart. I don't want that. I want you when I'm completely ready but I hate making you wait." Eddy added, not talking with the filter as well.
"That's what you're worried about? Honestly, I don't really mind waiting. I love how you're thoughtful enough to not let me carry the emotional burden... It's just, you could tell me anything. You could tell me that you still love her or if you really regret the relationship with her. I don't mind. I'm still your best friend. I could never lose that title. Even if I like you." Brett replied, closing his eyes.
"I'm waiting because I want to. No matter what your answer is, I wouldn't leave. I'll stay however you want me to stay. It's not being a martyr but rather being the best friend you've had for half of your life already. So, whether you continue the friendship, turn it to something more and we break up, I'll still be your best friend. That doesn't change." Brett concluded.
Eddy doesn't say anything else but sighed. Brett was terrified but Eddy didn't need to know. He was certain of all that he said, he had no regrets there. Brett was just afraid of what the answer might be.
With that, Eddy crawled nearer to Brett in order to keep Brett in his embrace. Brett was shocked at the moment and the movement but he hugged back instinctually. This was so organic and freeing at the same time.

"Thanks, Brett..." Eddy said, voice muffled by the cloth of Brett's shirt.
Brett doesn't say anything else but held him tighter as an answer.

"Hey, Brett?"
"Yes, Eddy?"
They both just stared at each other for a while. They were in the same bed again, not knowing how or why. They were just... There. The moment of silence passed and Eddy spoke up.
"Was I wrong to take her back?"
"Hmm?"
"Was I wrong? Was I supposed to do that?"
"Eddy, you did it for a reason. I'm sure you knew what you were doing. You let her come back because you know that you've came back stronger." Brett said, moving farther from Eddy slightly.
"I'd sleep on my bed now..." Eddy said quietly, getting up across in order to occupy his respective bed.
"Please don't regret the decision, Eddy. She wanted to try again in order to make it work this time. Don't worry too much anymore." Brett comforted, not facing away from Eddy.
At this point, Eddy was just thankful for Brett Yang's existence.

"You've never seen anyone before?"
"No."
"I thought there was this girl..."
"There was, but it didn't work out."
"Oh."
Eddy hugged Brett. Brett didn't try to move away or anything. This was normal to them at this point, now. They've been doing this the entire tour and Brett didn't know if he was grateful for it or if he was cursing it.
"Doesn't it feel lonely?" Eddy asked.
"Sometimes, yeah. It's just, I'm at the stage of life where I'm ready to accept what comes my way. I'll even be lucky enough if some dumb idiot was found me lovable or something." Brett joked, but Eddy didn't find it funny.
"You think you're unlovable?" Eddy asked, voice filled with pain.
"The thought is there sometimes. I know it's not true, but there's days where it feels like it. You know how it is, feeling like you could conquer the world one day and then feeling like you're so small and so insignificant in the world the next. It's just how it really is." Brett said honestly.
"It might also be the upbringing. It's a different type of feeling if you know that you didn't become that doctor that your father wanted or to be the great soloist that your mom thought you would be. It's hard when the expectations of everyone around you isn't met. It makes you feel like you're not doing enough somehow." Brett said, not facing Eddy.
"But you've always done so much for me." Eddy retorted, crying already.
Brett didn't answer because he knows that well enough. He gave Eddy his all.
"You okay?" Brett asked, wiping Eddy's tears.
"Yeah, just realized something..." Eddy said. "I love you, yeah?" Eddy added quietly.
"I know you do..." Brett said, not wanting to misinterpret.
"No, Brett. I mean it this time. I love you the same way you love me." Eddy said, looking at Brett with soft, soft eyes. Full of love and admiration...
"I love you, too..." Brett said, mirroring Eddy's look.
- - - - -
"Tour's over." Eddy said, rolling his suitcase behind him.
"Yeah, it happened so fast..." Brett said, walking slower. He didn't want their nights in bed together to end. He didn't want to be apart from Eddy. Not now and not again.
"Eddy! Brett!" A feminine voice screamed and Eddy seemed too happy with hearing it.
"I told you not to pick us up, Sarah..." Eddy said but hugged her happily.
"I wanted to. I know you're both tired." She said as she kissed Eddy's cheek. "Hey, Brett! I hope Eddy's been good to you while you were on tour." She added as she looked over at Brett and gave him a hug.
"Yeah, he was kind. Didn't bring trouble except when he's staying up." Brett joked.
Seeing them together reminded him of the mistake he committed. Of course, they were still together! Eddy didn't tell him that they broken up. He shouldn't have told Eddy that he loved him too!
- - - - -
"Brett, come over. I need help with something." Eddy said over the phone.
"Yeah, just give me ten minutes. I'll be there." Brett said as he went out already.
True to his word, he was there in even lesser time.
"You need help with?" Brett asked, looking around to see if something was wrong with the house.
"I need help with choosing a pair of bedsheets." Eddy said nonchalantly.
"You need help with that? Why?" Brett asked, really confused.
"I need your opinion, especially if you're going to sleep here with me for the rest of your life now." Eddy said, holding a few bedsheets.
Brett was quiet for a while.
"You mean that?"
"Of course I do! I wanted to just get over her. I'm sorry I lied to you while on tour. We never really got back together. She was the one who told me that I was in love with you. And I am. I love you."
"I love you too, fucking idiot. I thought I let you cheat. I hated the guilt." Brett said, scolding Eddy.
"I'm sorry. Just please pick the bedsheets so I could cuddle you as a way to pay you back." Eddy said, setting the sheets back down on the closet.
Brett picked one and they put it on the bed. They lied down and Brett felt really happy. Really, really happy. Eddy was so in love and so infatuated.
"You're fucking lucky that I love you so much." Brett said, kissing Eddy.
"I know, Brett. I love you, too."

The Unified States of Mana
My name is Kyra Baker, I’m 20 years old and a university student, and recently I’ve been offered a scholarship to a definitely-not-shady magical academy. A ‘support device’ I was given shows me a list of classes I can take, all involving mana, magic, and Skills with a capital S. To get there I was lumped into a ship full of strange and alien creatures, jumping between worlds as we pick up more and more hapless ‘students’. Things were starting to make a little sense, until the ship crashed into an alien world. Now, I might be getting trained as a rebel soldier, or something? Looking on the bright side, I haven’t gotten this much exercise in a long time and there are plenty of cute girls around. When I develop some Skills and work on my classes, maybe I’ll become strong enough to actually have the time to flirt with them. ~ One of the few surviving records thought to be written by the Empress before her rise to power.
