《Set Apart》Chapter 31~

I stood looking at the mirror in my locker. Trying to get the marker to get the exact spot on my cartilage where I wanted the piercing.
"You guys think there is good?" I turned to Cory, Topanga, and Cristina.
"That is the 8th time you've asked us that question. And they all have looked fine Shawn." Cris pointed out.
"I just want to make sure they put it in the right place. It is a hole in my flesh after all."
"A hole that closes up if you decide you don't like it and take the piercing out. Besides i'm pretty sure you won't notice if the piercing is half a millimeter from where you wanted it."
"But it's a cartilage piercing, it's gonna hurt and i'm not trying to turn myself into a human pin cushion trying to get this right."
"Oh please, i've seen my cousin get like 4 cartilage piercings, they don't look like they hurt that bad Hunter."
"Excuse me for being nervous. I don't see a hole in your ear Carrillo." I crossed my arms and raised my eyebrows at her.
"Uh oh." Corey said.
"What's wrong Corey?" Topanga asked him.
Cristina completely ignored them and crossed her arms while looking at me. "Excuse me Hunter?"
"Uh oh." Topanga said.
"You heard me. You talk big game for someone who's last piercing was when they were a baby and don't even remember it."
"UH OH." Corey repeated louder
"I bet you couldn't handle getting a piercing like this any better than me."
"UH OH!" Corey and Topanga shouted in unison.
Just then Derek walks up to my locker. "Hey guys what's—"
"SHHHHHHHHHH!" Corey interrupts him and grabs him by the shirt pulling him aside. "You can't talk right now they are at war. SHHHHHHH!"

I roll my eyes. "Corey there isn't going to be a war. Cristina doesn't have the guts."
"Oh really?" She smiles maliciously and uncrosses her arms.
"Uh oh." Corey, Topanga, and Derek all said this in unison.
"Guys relax. Cris is willing to cut her hair and act all tough but she's not willing to do anything too permanent."
Her smile widens as she walks over to her locker. It's only a few feet away so we can still see her. She grabs something small from the back and closes her locker. She walks back up to me and holds a 2-inch safety pin that's open to my face.
"Words, use your words Cris." Corey says with his voice slightly shaky. She looks over at Corey. "Please don't hurt my boy. Him and the wife are all I got."
"Corey, calm down. She won't do it. She doesn't even have anything to disinfect it with."
Just as Harley Keiner was walking by, Cristina put a hand on his chest to stop him from walking any further. "Keiner, lighter, now." She put her palm face up, insinuating where to put it.
"I'm sorry, are you demanding things of me?" He squinted his eyes.
"I'm sorry, did I stutter?" She looks over at him and growls.
"Fine." He puts the lighter in her hand. "What do you even need it for anyway?"
"For this." She turns on the lighter underneath the safety pin she had and made sure to light all of it.
Corey started tapping me on the shoulder. "Now Shawnie this is the part where you apologize before bad decisions are made and ears are stabbed."
"Cor, she'a bluffing she's not gonna do it."
Topanga walks im front of me with a big smile on her face. "Shawn, when have you ever known Cristina to not follow through on a promise or not call a bluff."

My eyes widen at the mistake I have made. "On second thought Cris, I think you have very pretty ears and I would hate to see them poked at—"
"No no no, you were right." She cut me off. "I've made a few impulsive decisions in the past, but none that have been too permanent."
"I just really think that I was overreacting slightly—"
"And I really think, that I should start living up to, what did you say, that 'big game' that I talk." She smiles again, but now I am very freaked out because she looks pissed at the same time. "So Shawn, you called my bluff, and here's what i've got to say."
She turns to the mirror and poked the safety pin right through her cartilage in her ear like it was nothing. She clips the safety pin on the other side and hands Harley back his lighter.
"I'm done with this now, you can have it back."
"Huh? Never pegged you for the impulsive crazy type." He responded.
"Well, I think we all learned not to underestimate me today. Don't you think Shawn?" She turned back to me and I just couldn't stop looking at her ear.
She pierced it.
With a safety pin.
With the MIRROR IN MY LOCKER!!!
"I will never be that stupid again."
"Oh Hunter." She pats my cheek. "Of course you will. But at least now you know that i'm never bluffing." She drops her hand from my face and walks off. Derek nervously follows after her without saying a word.
I stood there in the hallway with my mouth agape. Still in shock of what just happened.
She is a sociopath.
Without a doubt.
And yet I love her all the same.
