《The Last Set || Sugawara x Reader ||》My Personal Sunset

He holds you for a moment as he caresses your cheek. He cups it delicately, as if you'd break from his touch. He brushes your hair that clung to your dampened cheeks with his thumb. You could feel his breath on your face as you remained nose to nose.
"Su-suga" you managed to let out.
"Don't shut me out like that, I can't live with myself if you do" he whispered
You pull away and swiftly wipe your tears with the back of your hand. You couldn't meet his gaze; it was too much to bear.
"It's my fault," you said, clearing your throat. You tried holding back your sob, but you couldn't take it anymore. The downpour of emotions was hitting you hard in the chest.
"Don't say that" he retorted but you shook your head in refusal.
You hold the sides of your face and cover your ears, ashamed of yourself.
It is my fault. It's always my fault. Why must I drag people into my mess? Why must it always be like this? He almost died because of me.
"No. No Suga!" You raised your voice and he sat there patiently listening, "You wouldn't be in this mess if it wasn't for me!"
It's just like before but worse. Now he can't even play volleyball anymore. I took away what he loved the most. How? Why? He doesn't deserve this, he doesn't deserve me!
"Why? Why do you continue to keep smiling like that?! Why do you pretend like everything's okay?!" You yell clutching your chest.
Nothing made sense to me. How can he still be smiling?!
A few moments of silence passed as you were heaving from your wheelchair. You shook violently as you clutched onto your chest. Hot tears fell onto your lap and you couldn't control it anymore. You watch them fall, dampening your hospital gown.
"Why do you always find a way to blame yourself! I know how bad things are. I'm not pretending! I know that volleyball is over for me, but I don't blame you for it. I'll never blame you for it!" he raised his voice at you for the first time, shaking up your senses, "but no matter how horrible life gets, and the amount of times I feel like I've lost my way... I look at you and everything makes sense to me. Everything suddenly becomes okay again."
You look up at him with your bloodshot eyes. He stared at you with a serious face, searching for an answer. His flushed face spoke that he wanted you and only you. You swallowed the lump in your throat as he reaches out a hand to you. You vacantly stare at it as he desperately waits for you.
"Is it because you see yourself as a burden, (F/N)? Is that why you keep pushing away the people you love the most?" he murmured underneath his tears, "I am willing to carry your burdens with you, so at least allow me to make it bearable for you to hold. That's what a boyfriend does. That's what I'm willing to do."

You wheel your chair close to him and he pulls you into a long-awaited embrace. A full on sob escapes your lips as he strokes your hair tenderly. Tears fall from both of your faces, as he's been longing to rescue you from this dark hole you couldn't escape from. You could finally see the light.
"I'm here and I'll always be here" he mumbled into your hair, "because I love you deeply, (F/N)"
You remained silent in his comforting embrace. Something you've longed for for a very long time. You cling onto the back of his gown tightly; You were too scared to let go. You could feel your heart, beating harshly out of its chest. Suga's was beating just as rapidly.
I've missed him so much.
"So please stay, (F/N). Don't leave me" he whispered into your ear and you nodded in response. His words resonate in your ear, like a distant memory. It was like before where he wanted you to stay, but this time you needed him to stay.
It hurt too much to speak and just by looking at him, I knew I could never leave him.
"Here, sit beside me" he motions over and pats the space beside him, "must be uncomfortable sitting there"
You climb onto his hospital bed and with great difficulty, he motions his hand towards you. As you fill the empty space beside him, he hoists you upwards and you eventually carry your legs afterwards. He looks down at your legs and up to your face. You flash him the tiniest smile and he grins back at you, letting you know it's going to be okay. We're broken and mangled but somehow whole and complete. He places his good arm around you and sighs into your hair. He plants small kisses on top of your forehead as you intertwine fingers. He rubs his thumb gently over the back of your hand, the familiarity brought warmth to your heart.
"No matter how many times you push me away, I won't move (F/N). Don't ever see yourself as a burden, because you're not a burden to me. I can't live without you, (F/N)." he said under his breath.
A sudden spark ignited in your mind; You thought about the future.
"Suga." you turn to him as best as you can and catch him grinning. The brightest smile that started it all.
"Yes, (F/N)?" he says sweetly.
"D-Do you, um, see me in the future?" you stutter.
The question peeks his interest as he pulls you in closer. We press our foreheads together and close our eyes.
"Of course I do." he answers, "It would be breathtaking to see you as the first thing I wake up to and the last thing I see before I sleep. Like the sun."
"Like the sun? Is that why you wrote that in the notebook?" you sheepishly ask, and he nods slightly

"Bright. Mesmerizing. Life Giving."
Silenced by his answer, you kiss him briefly and burrow further into his neck. He rests his chin on top of your head and closes his eyes once more. On the radio, it starts playing our song: 'I realize the best part of love is the thinnest slice. And it don't count for much, but I'm not letting go, I believe there's still much to believe in...'
"(F/N), if the world was ending, what would we do?" he asks suddenly.
Reminiscing on the chaos that's happened, as life pulls us apart, it always felt like the world was ending without Suga. But as it finally settled down, the world wasn't on fire anymore.
A small laugh escapes your lips. He laughs along with you.
"I would marry you" you respond confidently into the nape of his neck, "I wouldn't have anything to worry about anymore, knowing you're here with me"
You smile to yourself and Suga continues to brush your hand with his thumb. You feel his chest rise and fall slowly.
"I would undoubtedly do the same." he says softly, "w-would you like to hear my wedding vows?"
He felt your smile on his neck, encouraging him to continue.
"I recited them in my head, when I first met you. When you were opening up to me about your dad and Kiyoko. That's when I fell in love with you... I hope you don't find that creepy." he chuckles, making your head bounce slightly. The tuffs of your hair tickled his chin and he let out a light laugh.
"No not at all." you murmured.
"Don't laugh at me okay" he chuckles and you pretend to seal your lips shut.
Intertwining your pink with his', you squeeze it, sealing your promise. He clears his throat and tucks a strand of hair behind your ear.
"I'm not going to lie, I'm kinda nervous." he said all breathy, "close your eyes."
You hesitate at first, because it's been a while since you've gotten a wink of sleep. Also the fact that you were kidnapped in the hospital, didn't make it any easier. You were undoubtedly scared as Suga notices your body tense up slightly.
"I'll be here, (F/N). I'm not leaving you. I promise" he says reassuringly. He squeezes your hand and you let out a shaky breath. You gaze upwards into his hazel eyes and tuck yourself back inside the comfort of his neck.
"Okay" you agreed as you finally closed your eyes, "You're still here?"
"Yes (F/N). I'm still here" he smiles.
"Okay, imagine this..." he murmured, "Imagine it's our wedding day and you're walking down the aisle. What do you see?"
"Hmm. I see you in a tuxedo at the very end of the aisle and my family is there." you say with your eyes still closed, "and Kageyama would be walking me down. He's family to me"
He realized your dad was gone but even so, he knew that you'd always be loved. No matter who it was or what circumstance, they'd always be there for you.
"I can see it too," Suga agrees, closing his eyes, "What else can you see?"
"Tofu, our dog and I see all of our friends. All of them are in their best clothes and taking pictures of us. They're all grown up and some of them have children of their own. There would be a mix of smiles and laughter all around. And I'd manage to walk in heels and a long dress trailing behind me. I'd be smiling the whole way, knowing that you'd be there." you say blushing slightly at the thought, "And I finally reach you."
"And I'll be waiting for you." he completes your sentence, "And I'd recite my vows. So here it is, my promise to you, (F/N)."
We close our eyes together, imagining the day where we become one.
"When I look at you, I think of how lucky I must be to have my own personal sunset.
I have felt lost and directionless for as long as I can remember, but when I look at you, I find myself over and over again
When you smile, there are no other sunsets that can take my gaze off you
My personal sunset
I have the tendency to love hard, so I'll try to love you gently. I will be there for you when a mirror doesn't reflect your whole being.
I'll be your sky
The kind of sky that will always be there for you, to support you
The kind you can rest your head, knowing I'll still be here in the morning.
Because I know your past hasn't treated you as well as our future will.
And I know, I am not confident everyday, so I hope it means more when I confidently say
I love you
I will not make it your duty to show me how to love myself, but I only ask that you love me in the way that you do
I'm obsessed with my personal sunset. I look at you and wonder how Tenma must feel,
having raised someone more beautiful than sunsets."
"My personal sunset" Suga repeats, "You're my personal sunset."
We open our eyes only to see each other, to see our whole world in front of us. He laid there as he was the first to fall asleep, without saying another word. You stared at him and realized that everything you needed was in front of you.
"And you're my sky."

Unbound Deathlord: Challenge
Due to Amazon's Kindle Unlimited rules, I had to pull most of the book content from RoyalRoad. Only sample chapters remain. To read a fiction that will never be removed from Royal Road, I recommend my other fiction: Immortal Conqueror. The first two books of the series are out on Amazon: Book 1: Unbound Deathlord: ChallengeBook 2: Unbound Deathlord: Obliteration Book 1: Challenge When virtual reality becomes real enough that people feel as if they’re being transported to another world, Valia Online arrives.A man running from his past joins the game to forget it all. Calling himself Jack Thorn, he chooses an undead race, Deathlord.A mage by choice, and a swordsman by necessity, he soon finds out that he’ll need to use much more than magic and steel to survive; strategy, creativity, and carefully chosen words can often accomplish what simple attacks can’t.As the game becomes too real and touches a part of him that he’d rather leave buried, he is faced with two questions:Who is he, really? And who should he become?

Kreig Goes Apesh*t (An AU of Returning to No Applause)
An AU of my previous story, Returning to No Applause, that asks the simple question of "What if it all went wrong?" When Kreig first appears on Earth again, after being stranded in another world for 130 years, he finds himself faced with weapons and guns. In a fit of instinct, he accidentally murders one of the many Fighters, causing what can only be described as a massacre to take place. The story that follows this simple premise is completely opposed to the one told before, focusing less on character improvement and more so degradation. It should come as no surprise that I personally recommend reading the OG story before checking this one out, and if you've already done so, great! Swell havin' ya! Any such readers might remember that I mentioned writing a story like this a while back, and... Here we are. This is in no way a continuation or sequel, nor will it be very long. Expect around 15 chapters at most depending on various factors. All and all, the 5-page length will remain the same (apart from chap. 1) and so will the release time, Sundays at 20:30 EST (I think?). All that aside, I sure hope you'll enjoy this! It'll obviously be very different from the OG story, but I personally think that's a good thing. Cheerio!
