《The Last Set || Sugawara x Reader ||》Time

Monday rolled along and everyone was shook about last Saturday. Especially you.
It felt like a dream but... it ended up with me being all panicky and anxious.
You sigh and wonder if it was easier for you to avoid all the drama. It seemed too much for your head to handle.
Suga and Kageyama were arguing? Oikawa and Mika were swept overboard? Tsukishima and Yamaguchi were there? And Hajime?!? My goodness, everything is so confusing!
You're walking down the hallway to attend the first class of the day and you hear people whispering and shooting weird glances at you.
"I heard that Kiyoko was hidden by everyone. What if she's the reason why she's not in school." A boy murmured while pointing in your direction.
"Well, we now know that boarding school was a lie. Poor Daichi, he must be so worried" a girl replied.
"Daichi hasn't been in school for a week... wonder if he's okay" a boy chimed
"Tsk tsk, he honestly deserves better." A girl added
More awful voices filled the hallway as you walk past the rest of the students. This time, you didn't put in your AirPods to drown out the sound. You continue to walk down the hall and just before you reached your classroom, someone taps you on the shoulder. You swiftly turn around and are greeted by a tall man with a goatee.
"Asahi-san? Do you need something?" You inquired
"Um, can we, uh, talk...?" Asahi muttered. He looked like a nervous wreck.
He pulled you to the side of the hallway where there were less people; he fumbles with his gigantic fingers and looks down at his feet.
"Something wrong Asahi-san?"
"Ah um..." the giant uttered
"We're going to be late for class? We can talk later at volleyball club if you'd like?"
"Nono it's okay I'll just say it." He takes a deep breath in and with an exhale he finally looks up upon your face. Worry filled his eyes.
"Is Kiyoko really awake?" He blurt out
"Oh!"
"I've heard from my dad. It's true isn't it?"
His dad? Wait his dad?!
"Your dad is Kiyoko's neruologist!?" You asked in shock. Asahi puts a finger to his lips to shush you.
"Shhhhh. People will hear you!" Asahi whispers
"Wait, why didn't you say anything!" You demanded, pushing him lightly in the chest. You startled the giant as he fiddles with his man bun. He pats his hair nervously and confesses,
"My dad is always private with his clients. He never discusses his patients with me. Of course patient confidentiality"
"But how did you find out then?"
Asahi avoids your gaze but explains,
"One day my dad was almost headed for work until he almost left without his paperwork. He asked me to grab it for him and obviously the file had 'private' written on it. I didn't mean to peak, I swear! The file just happened to be open and I was rushing and I accidentally scattered the papers everywhere and- " Asahi was speaking so fast he was running out of breath.
Grabbing him by the shoulders (well tried your best to because he was so much taller), you squeeze them as a sign of comfort.
"Asahi-san breathe!"
Asahi was a nervous wreck, he was just like you. He was hyperventilating and you had to wait for him to calm down.
"I was so worried about her." He finally let out
I never realized how much Kiyoko affected all her friends. Especially Asahi, Daichi and Suga. The third years.

"You must've been" you murmured
"I've heard some nasty things on the way to school. People can be so mean sometimes..."
"It's okay Asahi. I understand them... we should've told people what really happened"
"It's not your fault (F/N). You don't owe people and explanation." He smiled weakly at you.
Asahi was so precious. No matter how big he is, he'll always be such a softie.
"I just wanted to know if she's okay." He asks
"Don't worry, she might come home in a few weeks according to your dad."
"That sounds great" he smiles down at you. The bells rings signalling the first class is about to start.
"Well we better get going." You say as you head down the hallway with Asahi. As you reach the doorway, Asahi adds,
"Tanaka-kun really misses her..."
Doesn't he mean Daichi?
Before you could respond, the teacher scolds the two of you,
"(F/N), Asahi. Please take your seat."
You bow from intruding the class and find a seat beside Suga. Suga weakly smiles at you but doesn't say anything which surprised you. He'd usually greet you with a 'good morning' or he'd slide in a snack for you because you always miss breakfast.
You shift your knees towards him, but his attention was still somewhere else. He had his hands in a bunch as it covered the lower half of his face. He taps his fingers on the back of his hand and his leg bobs up and down rapidly.
Did I do something wrong?
You open your mouth to speak but end up not letting anything out.
Centring yourself back into your seat, you divert your attention back to the teacher. Suga remained quiet the whole time.
~
"Are you ready?" Mika asked in anticipation.
She wearing high-heels, a long beige trench coat, and a huge top hat. Her hair was done up in a way that made her look mature. It complimented the makeup that came along with her disguise. Tsukishima trudged behind her wearing dress shoes and a matching tuxedo. Both of them were wearing sunglasses to hide their youth.
"Oh God." You say trying to hold in your laughter
"I can't believe I'm doing this." He complained in a monotone voice. He shoves his hands in his pockets and hunches over.
"C'mon you owe me." Mika said nudging him in the elbow.
Tsukishima doesn't say more but after the date, Mika told you that she was beating him senseless. Apparently he said that their boat collided with theirs by 'accident'. Not sure what happened on the boat between Oikawa and Mika at the time.
"Where's Yams?" You ask Tsukishima. He tilts his chin upon the hallway behind you.
"Sorry I'm late!" Yams runs in with his school bag and sunglasses.
"Um yams, you didn't need a disguise." Mika chuckles
"Oh darn really? I just wanted to join in on the fun." He takes off his sunglasses revealing his adorable freckles.
"Everyone got the plan?" Mika asked for confirmation. You scratch your head and admit,
"Eh can you run it by me again?"
You forgot some details when Mika told you last Sunday. It was absurd when you heard it the first time. Plus, you were kinda distracted with Suga on your mind.
"Okay so... Me and Tsuki are undercover as husband and wife. I'm a business woman who is inquiring about my son's grades. My husband is a CEO of some abroad, famous company and he's busy so he'll be on the phone a lot. I'll do all the talking Tsuki."

She pats him forcefully on the stomach and he grunts in response.
"Anyway, you and Yams are going to hack into Takeda's computer system. Me and Tsuki will be the diversion to make sure Takeda-senpa won't reach the office. Once you reach you reach his computer, you take the lead Yams"
He nods in agreement but it didn't occur to you that Yams doesn't know why we were hacking into the computer system. You were in search for Kiyoko's father but you didn't tell him that.
"We could honestly just ask Takeda-senpai for the files?" Yams asked confused.
"But isn't this more thrilling Yams?" Mika spoke with thrill. Yams fiddled with the strap of his laptop bag uncomfortably.
"I guess..." he said all innocently.
You felt bad dragging him into this but he agreed because of Tsukishima. Also, Yams was the only one skilled enough to hack into a computer.
"Okay, by the time Yams is done with his techy stuff, we'll be finished way before 5'o clock practice."
Thank God the basketball team needed the gym after school.
"Everyone hands in" Mika whispers. The corridor was empty and every huddles close.
"3, 2, 1... Karasuno!"
Tsukishima chuckles at Mika's enthusiasm. Yams smiles brightly but he you could tell he was nervous. You and Yams run up the corridor while Mika and Tsukishima stay downstairs in search for Takeda-senpai.
~
"Um what about the door situation?" Yams was pulling on the door but it remained shut.
"I can't believe we didn't think about this." You say scanning the hallways.
"If we don't hurry, we'll get in so much trouble..."
Fiddling with the knob you could feel sweat form on your back. Yams was kneeling down, concentrated on picking the lock with your bobby pin.
"C'mon c'monnn..." he mumbles
"Whatcha doing Yams?" someone squeaks.
He drops the bobby pin and immediately blushes from the voice. Turning his head upwards he's greeted by a tiny girl with blonde hair and star hair clips. Her nimble fingers were holding a key and around her neck was a camera.
"AH YACHI-SAN UM HI!" Yamaguchi greets her as he swiftly got up from the floor. He carelessly bumped into the door knob which made him wince.
"Do you need help?" She tilts her head out of curiously. Her blonde hair framed her face and her lips curled into a kind smile.
Is she not assuming that we're about to break in?
"Hello Yachi-san. I think you're in my English class." you greet her with a smile
"Oh thats right! (F/N), is it? You're like one of the top students who scored perfect on her entrance exam!" She gleamed as her eyes shone brightly in admiration.
"Oh haha uh thank you?" You blush at her complement.
"Any friend of Yams is a friend of mine!" She smiles and Yams face turned a beet red.
"I'm just getting some things for the yearbook club. You can come in if you'd like."
"Oh that would be so great Yachi!" You smile back at her. Yams seemed to be having trouble making out words. He was flustered even.
"Well um, excuse me? I'll open the door now" she chirps and Yams was still fixated on her face.
"Um Yams? You're blocking the door..." you mutter to him.
"OH RIGHT SORRY!" He moves swiftly away from the door and Yachi inserts the key. It made a satisfying click and the door creaked open.
You look at Yams with a confused face as he still remains in the hallway. You snap your fingers and he comes back to his senses.
"Yes yes. Right the laptop..."
Closing the door behind, you and Yams were trying your best to avoid any suspicions from Yachi.
Worst case scenario we get caught and get expelled. Worser case scenario we get expelled! Either way, this is dangerous but I have to know, who is Kiyoko's father!
"Well, I'll be over here just uploading photos for year book and making a few copies! Don't mind me" Yachi says gleefully.
She's like a perfect day in summer. So happy.
She rummages through the boxes of stuff labelled 'Yearbook club' and gleefully skips to the photocopy room. She entered the tiny separate room, allowing you and Yams time.
"Okay now's our only chance to do this." you whisper furiously into Yams' ear but he was still flustered by Yachi.
"Yams focus!" you nudge him in the arm and he unzips his bag in a manic fashion.
Yams takes out his laptop and opens' Takeda-senpai's laptop simultaneously. He types something fast into his laptop while opening up Takeda-senpai's desktop. His background was the volleyball club. It was actually such a cute photo. It was the recent one that you and Mika took.
"I feel guilty." you whisper to Yams. Your comment makes him stop typing as and he looks up at you from his seat.
"Yam's I shouldn't of dragged you into this..." you sighed
"Hey it's okay! Like Mika said, more adventure this way!"
He continues typing furiously on his computer and plugs in a wire connecting it to Takeda's laptop. There was a bunch of zero's and one's on Yam's computer. It was so foreign looking but Yam's seemed to understand everything. He nods pleasantly at the two screens and he mumbles,
"just need to break the fire wall aaand."
Takeda's screen server opened and greeted both of you with 'welcome back Takeda'. You were sweating so much, you were grasping the back of the chair for support. You and Yam's were such goodie two-shoes it was uncanny that you'd do a thing like this.
"Okay so what exactly did we need again?" he asks you
"I can take over from here Yams"
He offers you his seat and you shuffle the chair forward. Cracking your knuckles you were clicking through his files until you finally reach one labeled 'volleyball club'. Hovering the mouse over it, you click it with hesitation. It had recent files but you had to scroll a long way just to reach the year your dad played volleyball. You let out a big sigh and click on the folder.
"So whatcha looking for (F/N)?" Yams asks
"Um just something from my dad, that's all." you keep scrolling down until you reached the profile pictures of each member of the team.
"Huh, what's your dad's name again? Maybe you can go on the refine search." Yams suggested to you.
Thank God he's here, I'd be scrolling for forever.
You type in 'Shimizu Taiyo' and press enter. The screen displayed 'no results' and then you realize that's not his real name.
"Um Yams. Do you think you can watch out front and also keep a close eye on Yachi?" you commanded, just so he wouldn't hover over your shoulder. No one really knows about your dad's identity except Mika.
"O ya sure. Will do." He said compliantly as he rushes over to stand in between the door and the photocopier room.
"Hey Yams! The printer looks like it's jammed! Do you have a second to help me out?" Yachi called out. Yams blushes even more and replies a little too loudly,
"AH YA I CAN HELP YOU OUT!"
He winks at you and mouths 'you okay?' and you quickly give him a thumbs up while typing furiously at the computer. Searching for answers.
Finally typing in 'Udai Tenma' you click and get a a bunch of results. Clicking on multiple photos of your dad in his younger days.
Dad. You're so tiny in these pictures especially compared to your teammates.
Opening more tabs you finally reach a clear photo with the rest of his teammates. Zooming into their faces one by one, you start with the coach. Coach Ukai.
Wow. He looks like Keishin.
Moving on to the next player after the next, you land on a person that could be Kiyoko's dad but you weren't sure.
What did mom say before about her ex-boyfriend? I think she mentioned that he was enemies with dad. Hm, they must've sat far away from each other, I'm assuming.
"Wow Yachi-san these posters are amazing!" Yams admired Yachi's artwork as the machine sounded like it started working again.
"Heh, it's no big deal. I just got some help from my mom..." she explains to Yams. Their voices were muffled by the 'clug' sounds from the machine as it produced more copies.
I have to hurry or else Yachi will finish and I won't have any more time!
Your eyes darted back and forth more rapidly at the faces of each teammate, until it reached back to your dad sitting beside someone who wore the number '9'. Dad's jersey read '10'
Maybe it's him?
Zooming into the man's face you click on Kiyoko's profile and compare their photos side by side. Your eyes immediately widen.
This is her father isn't it? But what's his name?!
Searching through the files again you click on the profile beside dad's. The team was fortunately in numerical order. Opening it up, the computer started to lag from the multiple tabs that were opened.
Crap! C'mon load!
You hear footsteps approaching and the sound of the knob turning. Your face felt like it was on fire as the door was almost opened. The person stopped turning the knob because of a distant voice called out to them. The person held the door knob but didn't go inside.
'My my what a lovely courtyard you have there!' a British voice exclaimed.
Mika?
You pulled out the USB cord and the wire connected to Yams' computer. Ducking under the computer desk you hid there while clutching Yams' laptop to your chest. The footsteps were approaching your direction and with every step, your heart would pound out of its chest.
Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap
Takeda-senpai's feet were just inches from yours but you remained as still as a mouse under the table.
"Hey Takeda-senpai! W-whatcha doing here?" Yam's popped out from the copier room and greeted him with multiple bows. Yams sucked at lying but it was up to him now to hide the truth.
"Oh hello Yamaguchi-san. I was just grabbing my computer to show the grades of a student for some curious parents." he beamed at him. You could visibly see Yams sweat drip down on his forehead.
"And may I ask what are you doing here?" Takeda-senpai chimed.
"OH! Ah, well I was just, um..." Yams stuttered. He looked like he was about to explode.
"He's with me senpai!" Yachi chirped. She smiled brightly at the teacher and Yams face relaxed just a bit.
"The photocopier is jammed again." she explained while giggling.
"Ah well aren't you resourceful Yamaguchi-kun." he remarked.
"Well I better get going! This couple looks like they are in a hurry." Takeda-senpai added. He snatched his laptop and whistled on his way out the door.
Your shoulders immediately loosened and you let out a huge sigh of relief.
Never again (F/N), never again...
Before you could escape from under the table, Yachi offers you a hand and you take it without hesitation. Dusting off your uniform, you look towards Yams who looked like he just pissed himself.
"So, what are you guys really here for?" Yachi questioned with a raised eyebrow. She was holding a stack of posters that advertised a fundraiser for the yearbook club.
"Yams is like an open book. Really easy to read. He's an awful lier but..." she turns to you and tilts her head.
"If he did something for you, I bet it wasn't for something bad now, is it?"
You take a big gulp and Yams face turned white as a ghost. You couldn't read Yachi but you knew she was just as studious as you. You'd doubt she wouldn't hesitate to report this to a teacher.
Well we're screwed.
~
"Why are we doing this again?" I groan linking arms with Mika. We had to pretend to be a married couple but who would believe this disguise? It was so obvious we were sixteen year olds. Only factor that could maybe pulls this off was both of us were tall. But it was a slim chance.
Why am I doing this...
"You owe me, remember?" she whines, grasping tighter onto my arm.
Her scent, the same one from the handkerchief, was still engraved in my mind. She always smelt nice, even after the whole boating accident. There wasn't a single time her scent didn't waver. I'm fond of it.
