"Mika, why do you want to be with him?" a voice called out. The voice caught my attention as I shift over to the left side of the bed. There Tsukishima laid.
"What the hell are you doing in my bed?" I asked in shock.
It was dark but I could still see the outline of his face.
"Mika you didn't answer my question" he frowned.
"What are you even asking?!"
"Yeah Mika-chan answer his question" another voice called out.
Turning to your right side, I met a pair of brown sparkling eyes. Oikawa's.
"Mika-chan, I'm better for you right?" He whispered.
What's going on?!
Tsukishima grabs my arm, making me turn around again
"Don't go. Stay with me."
"Mika-chan, you'll be happier with me" Oikawa murmured. He grabbed my other free hand and nuzzles into my hair.
They were both so close to me in bed, it was surreal. They're closing in on me and I start to sweat.
"Mika-chan be with me." Oikawa demanded.
"She's with me you idiot." Tsukishima argued.
I can feel myself get hot under the blanket as I try to push both of them away.
LET GO OF ME!
I jolt upwards, waking up to a sweaty back and forehead. Clasping my chest, I'm breathing hard from that nightmare.
What happened?!
Glancing at the clock, it read: 4am
I burry my face in between my legs and sigh into the blankets. I couldn't sleep. There was too much going on in my head.
Stupid boys, now I can't sleep.
Throwing off my blanket, I change out of my sweaty pyjamas into shorts, a sports bra and a flannel. Heading downstairs I go to the garage and turn on the lights, making me squint. I slip on Nike slides and wrap up my knuckles with bandages. I find my boxing gloves and approach the punching bag situated in the centre of the garage. My family used to own a car but because it belonged to Iwaizumi-san, all he left us was a bike. Rolling my shoulders back, I hit the punching bag multiple times before it tips over. The door opens and Hajime steps into the garage.
"Mika, what are you doing?"
I look towards him. He has a sweater on with boxer shorts. His hair was a mess and he was half asleep. I don't answer him as he approaches me. He scuffles his feet on the cold ground and stops in front of the fallen punching bag. He hoists it up and brings it upright for me. I didn't thank him because I never asked him for help. Continuing to kick and punch at the bag in frustration, Hajime comes along with boxing gloves as well. I stop punching and he voices out,
"Practice on me."
Letting my arms swing downwards, I turn to him with a serious face.
"Why don't you go back to sleep."
"I can't, you're noisy."
"Well sorry if I such a bother to you." I retort while rolling your eyes
I resume back to hitting the punching bag with all my pent up frustrations.
"Mika." He says with stern voice.
I still ignore him as I punch with more force.
"Mika." He calls out. I continued punch the bag like my life depends on it.
"Mika!" He yells as he suddenly punches me in the arm, startling me. Rubbing my arm, I finally look up at my brother. He had a dead look in his eye and the corners of his mouth were turned downwards.

"What! What do you want from me?!" I start yelling. I didn't realize angry tears have formed in my eyes.
I hate him and I hate boys and I hate-
He surprisingly hugs me, but I forcefully push him away.
"Why did you go to dad! You could've just stayed here and gone to Karasuno like me. You're just like him! You leave the people you love behind."
"I didn't leave Mika, I'm still here."
"Why don't you just go running back to dad. If you seem to like him all that much!"
"Mika I said, I'm not leaving."
He puts his arms out to the sides of his face, suggesting me to punch. My brother and I were never good at expressing our feelings with words. But we both knew how to cope through extreme physical activity. I never like talking about my feelings. After a few jabs here and there, my brother interjects,
"I got into a fight with dad."
I stop punching him and huff,
"Oh, so that's why you came crawling back to mom and me?" I pulled back for another punch and Hajime blocks it with his glove. He flinches a bit and I smile to myself.
"No of course not. I-I can't go back there." Hajime stutters.
I stop punching him and look at his stern face.
What was this fight about?
"It's okay Mika. Don't worry about it." He shrugs it off. I wanted to ask more, but I left the situation between dad and him.
What happened between Hajime and dad. Did dad start drinking again?
"Mika, I want you to know that I will always be here for you." He stated suddenly, "I will always be your big brother."
I was shocked by how open my brother was being. He was a very closed off person, but it's different this time. Something serious must've happened.
"Hajime." I say while taking hold of his forearm. I entrap him in a warm embrace and remained silent. It surprised him, but he returned my embrace.
"You have to tell me when something is wrong okay?" He murmured.
"I-I'm just scared." I stammered, "Scared that you'd forget about me. Scared of starting new things without you. I was even scared of losing a stupid volleyball game. Now I'm scared of a freaking date."
"Are you scared of Oikawa?" Hajime asks.
"No, I'm just scared I'll end up with a guy like dad" I cried into his hoodie
My dad was a drunkard who abused my family. Ever since that day he hit me in the head for talking back to him, I've always been so terrified. According to Hajime he's been sober ever since he met his new wife. Apparently he's changed but I found it hard to believe.
My fingers were trembling as I grasp Hajime's PJs.
"Please don't end up like him Hajime. I'll never forgive you." I pleaded
"I promise. I'll never." He stroked the top of my head, feeling the scar that dad left
I finally let go and quickly wipe away my tears with my forearms. Positioning myself in a fighter's stance, I was more determined to fight my brother.
I've been crying too much this week. Pah, I've become soft. (F/N)'s feelings have been rubbing off me.
"Mika. If you don't want to go on this date. I can tell Oikawa. He'll understand. He's stubborn but not stupid. Sometimes..." he suggested to me while chuckling at the thought. He pats my head and smiles down on me.

This kinda reminds me of my first day of Judo lessons and how I cried because I was scared of interacting with other people. Hajime comforted me, telling me it'll be okay. He told me that 'I need to face my fears to grow'
"You're not going to stop me from being with a boy?" I asked astounded.
"As much as I would like to be there for you all the time, the game I witnessed today... I saw how much you were growing. I don't want to interfere with your growth."
"I'll go on the date then. Face my fears." I braced myself, making my brother laugh.
"Mika, you're brave. A boy can't stop you from being the badass you are. I'll let him know you look forward to it. And of course I'll tell him I'll be watching him like a hawk."
I giggle at his response and flash a big goofy smile. Adjusting my boxing gloves, I punch Hajime in the stomach and he lets out a groan.
"Now stop making me soft and punch me back already." I commanded to him. He laughs loudly as he displayed a devilish smirk.
"I'll beat you at this, like how I beat you at volleyball"
"Bring it on ACE!"
"Oh ho, I'm just getting started captain."
~
Going through my closet in frustration, I went through every single dress and possible outfit combination. I wanted to wear something nice but something that didn't speak 'trying to hard'
(F/N) was setting her my volleyball in the air while lying down on my queen sized bed.
"UGH WHAT THE HELL DO I WEAR?!"
I scream, startling (F/N) as she misses the set and the volleyball hits her in the face; she immediately covers her face in pain.
"Oh my Lord Mika! It's been over an hour. Just pick something!" Her voice was muffled under her hands.
She was wearing a yellow top with high waisted jeans. Her hair was down for once instead of her usual ponytail. She also wasn't wearing glasses this time.
This is a nice sight. Seeing her let down her hair for once. She actually looks like a teenager.
"What? I'm wearing contacts" she blurts out as she catches me staring. She was looking at me upside down with her hair sprawled everywhere.
I softly smile and remark, "this is nice"
She looks at me confused but, I don't say anything more. Flipping through my clothes one last time, I was still lost by the massive pile in front of me. I wasn't the neatest person and (F/N)'s closet compared to mine made it look like a landfill.
Like looking one more time would make an outfit suddenly appear.
"I'm just wearing what Kiyoko wore on her first date." (F/N) chimed.
Glancing towards her again, I blink at her in confusion. I lie down in defeat beside her as our bodies were opposite from each other, with our heads meeting in the middle. My legs dangled from my bed side as I twisted my fingers together in a knot.
"You must feel relieved." I spoke softly. Turning my head to her, she meets my gaze.
"Yeah I guess so... I mean who wouldn't want their sister to come back to life?" she murmured. (F/N) started tapping her arm and I could tell she was nervous about something.
"But apparently she's uh..."
"She's what?"
"She's my, how do I put this?" (F/N) took a big gulp and fixated her eyes to the ceiling.
"She's my half sister."
"What?" I question, wide eyed.
"I know right!? That's what I said. And you know what else?"
"Oh my God, there's more?!" you sat up, intrigued by the news.
"She used to date Tanaka-kun before Daichi-kun."
"Woah! How did you find out?"
"Tanaka-kun told me. Apparently he was in love with her. But they broke up because of my dad."
Woah this is insane. I never thought Kiyoko would be the type to date.
"And yeah. Apparently my dad is the Tiny Giant."
"OKAY WHAT?!"
"I KNOW RIGHT?! Nothing makes sense anymore!"
As she tells me more about the whole mystery behind her family, I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
She makes my news feel so insignificant. And here I was, wanting to tell her about my bizarre dream and my mixed feelings with Tsukishima. Also the fact that Hajime refused to go back to dad's house.
I abruptly sit up from my bed and look down at (F/N)'s confused face.
"Aren't you curious?" I ask, wide eyed.
"About what?"
"About Kiyoko's father. Like who is this man?"
"The only thing I know about him is that he used to go to Karasuno and play in the volleyball team with dad. That's all my mom mentioned."
"Hmm" I sit there pondering and an idea popped up in my head. I get up from the bed and walk in front of (F/N). She's still lying down with her arms crossed.
"What?" She asks.
That seems to be a popular response today
"Get up. I have an idea."
I lend out my hand and hoist her up from the bed.
"Oh you and your crazy ideas. I don't know Mika. If this is about Kiyoko's dad, I'd just leave it." she fidgets with her bad arm and shuffles her feet.
"But what if he's like filthy rich or a serial killer?"
"I don't even like any of those options" she grumbled
"Okay but listen." I gaze towards (F/N) with a twinkle in my eyes, "What if we just find his name in the schools computer system. It wouldn't hurt to even know his name."
"But what would you do with that information?"
"Well if we have his name, we can track him down and introduce him to Kiyoko. His long lost daughter. Oooh I can see it in the headlines. 'Daughter wakes up from coma is reunited with her long lost father..." I wave my hand in the air, pretending to read a billboard.
"No Mika. What if he doesn't want to see her. He abandoned her remember. And Kiyoko doesn't even know about this or anything about herself for that matter!"
I slump over my shoulders and sigh, "This is like the story of a lifetime. If you don't do it then I'll just go hack into the computer system myself."
"Ah Mika?! Do you want to get expelled?! And how are you supposed to hack into the system? It's not like you know how."
I smirk at her, making her left eyebrow raise in irritation.
"I know someone who could."
(F/N) sighs in defeat, "Fine. But if we're caught, oh you are so dead."
She points a mean finger at me and I chuckle. (F/N) trying to be assertive is too funny.
"I swear we won't get caught. Trust me. I have a plan"
"You and your plans. I like how you can think of this but you can't even choose an outfit." she rolls her eyes at me and points at my messy closet.
I glance at my clock on the bedside table. It read: 5:25 pm.
Oh snap! We have to meet them at 6!!!
Snapping back to my senses, I run to my closet and frantically throw clothes to my bed. I burry (F/N) underneath the pile as she swats away the articles of clothing. I rummage through the massive pile and (F/N) was holding something I haven't seen in a while.
"Here" she smiles, throwing it to my face. Peeling it away to get a better look, I hold it in front of me.
Yes! This would go well with a denim jacket.
"Just put it on already!" (F/N) yelled.
"Geez someone's got their panties in a twist"
She taps her foot impatiently and crosses her arms. (F/N) points to the corner of the room and turns around. I didn't mind changing in front of her; we were like sister's anyway.
"Why are you so nervous for this date? Never in a million years would I see you scared for something like this." she laughs lightly
"And you're not?!" I call out still slipping off my clothes.
"Terrified. But at least you'll be there, so I have nothing to be scared of. They're just boys."
Nothing to be scared of... right.
"Okay I'm done." I say and (F/N) turns around. The expression on her face was priceless.
"Perfect" she grinned giving me a thumbs up.
~
"Hello ladies!" Oikawa calls from the distance. He was wearing a tight black sweater and blue jeans. His hair was still a mess but it always suited Oikawa. He wore glasses that surprisingly made him look even more handsome. He brightly smiled to me and (F/N) as he met us at the train station.
God damn he brought his game
"Wow! Mika-chan!! I'm so happy to see you all dressed up!" Oikawa blurt out. He always would bluntly state out these things. His compliment made me blush.
"Erm. Thanks I guess." I fiddle with the hem of my dress and glance downwards.
"Not too bad yourself Oikawa-kun!" (F/N) beamed. She radiated confidence that I've never seen before.
She's changed so much in just a week. Crazy.
In the corner of my eye, I see a dark figure approaching.
"Hey! Sorry I'm a bit late!" Suga called out running towards the rest of us.
Looking at (F/N), I can see her eyes soften as a genuine smile crept up her face. Turning my head to Suga, he was dressed in neat dress pants and a navy sweater with a light blue scarf around his neck. I wave at him as mist comes out of his mouth from running. He lets out a small huff and stops in front of (F/N).
"Sorry again for being late. So unlike me" he smiled down at (F/N). She didn't respond but kept her eyes on Suga
Is she okay? Is she...
"No worries Suga!" Oikawa piped up as he turned to me.
I was still staring at (F/N) and Suga. Suga took off his scarf and wrapped it around (F/N)'s neck. They both smiled at each other and let out a laugh.
In love with him?
"Yoo hoo. Earth to Mika?" Oikawa waved his hand in front of my face.
"Oh ahha sorry! Yes we should go!" I immediately start running towards the train and almost make it inside until Oikawa grabs my wrist,
"Mika-chan! You silly! That's the wrong train!"
The train door closes shut, inches from my face. It swooshes past, making my hair fly everywhere. I turn to Oikawa and his light brown hair was also blowing in the wind.
"Well that was a close one Mika-chan. I don't want to lose you. Hajime would kill me now, wouldn't he?"
My heart skips a beat as he continues to hold onto me.
~
As we all reach the Festival of Lights, Suga pans out the pamphlet in his hands,
He looks like a tourists how cute.
"Well the main event starts at 10pm but they have other things we can do, like the market place and some rides."
"Ooh sounds fun! And look!" I point all excitedly at a mini-roller coaster.
Suga's and (F/N) faces spoke differently.
"Wow Mika-chan I love roller coasters too!" Oikawa smiles brightly at me. I look away from his eyes and direct my attention back on Suga.
"And they have other street food we should try out." Suga exclaims. He raises the pamphlet and eyes it with astonishment.
"Where would you like to go (F/N)?" Suga asks her.
"Anywhere is good with me" she replied shyly.
"Then we gotta try everything before 10 o'clock Mika-chan! This will be the best date ever!" Oikawa exclaims.
Ah date. Right.
There were crowds of people and the air filled with chatter and laughter. I saw kids holding transparent balloons with lights inside. Other girls in kimono's were performing a dance. Some men and women were holding paper lanterns. From afar, they looked like fairy lights. I could smell the variety of fried foods as it fills my nose. Pushing through the crowd I realized I was getting quite claustrophobic.
I realized I was too occupied with the mesmerizing scenery, I almost lost sight of my friends.
This reminds me of when my dad lost me in a festival like this. I was crying for help but no one came for hours until Hajime found me.
I couldn't grasp my surroundings and my eyes were frantically searching for my friends.
"Mika-chan!" Oikawa reached out a hand to me. I grab it immediately and he pulls me out of the large crowd. We're both appalled by the amount of people and stand near a Takoyaki stand on the side.
"Mika-chan are you okay?" Oikawa asks, wrapping his arms around my shoulders. He held me with my back pressed up against his chest.
I tilt my head back and peek upwards at him, for once I wasn't irritated of filled with hatred, but I saw him in a different light; I felt safe.
"You found me." I murmured, still remaining eye-contact.
"Of course Mika-chan." He smiled down on me. I can hear my heart beat in my ears. He was inches from my face and I could smell his sweet cologne.
"But I think we lost our friends." Oikawa point outwards to the sea of people. It seemed to be endless. Suga and (F/N) were no where to be seen.
O crap.

He didn't give up right away but in the end he had to resign himself to the truth. At first he despaired but he soon choose to let his dreams go and begin a new life. This is the tale of an untalented cultivator who had given up in his dreams of glory to live a normal life. How will his future unfold? ------------------------- My native language is neither English nor Chinese, I am writing a Xianxia novel because I like the genre. I have tried to maintain the chinese names and the form of address but I used the measurements of the international system(meters, grams, etc..) and the hour time(no incense stick, or others). It may spoil it for some but I think it would be easier both for me and the readers. Before you read keep in mind that this is a novel with a slow progress. I don't want to give any spoiler but at least a few chapters will be dedicated to his life in the village.

And yet, both of them could not possibly imagine the consequences of their desires, the dangers inherent in a witch's promise, the unforgiving flow of time, and the foolishness of a lover's regret.
