《On Set》13

I just wanted to sleep when I got to my hotel room. I didn't even bother taking my clothes off. I got into my room and went straight to my bed and slept. On the car ride back I didn't speak much. Chris never asked about the deal, he thought it went badly.
I woke up the next day around 8 feeling better but a little disoriented. I was still a little nauseous, but that might just be hunger. I wanted to sit in my bed and waste the day, but I knew I couldn't. I took a long shower. I relaxed under the warm water and enjoyed the feeling of feeling clean again. I slowly got ready for work by getting dressed and grabbing breakfast. I got some toast and water from the breakfast in the hotel lobby. I figured I should eat light and bland to make sure my stomach was still okay.
I walked to set and smiled at everyone before sitting down and starting the long lists of calls I had today.
"Whit, it's me Lucy"
"Tell me how it went! Why didn't you call yesterday?"
"I was sick. I had the flu. But he signed! So now we need to slowly increase the amount of builders we have. Have we found a new construction manager? I'm thinking we need another one, and a whole new crew. We are going to do at least two Sony movies, almost at the same time. I'm thinking we should—."
"Whoa—slow your roll. I'll put out the application today. We have found a new construction manager. I think you'll like this one. I sure do."
"Perfect, when I get back I'll meet with them."
"How's the set going?"
"Fine, we're just about done. I think I'm going to need you to book a flight home soon."
"You tell me when. You do have a scheduled meeting with the California crew on Monday."
"We'll be way done before that. I think you should just book me a flight for Thursday. We'll finish today, clean tomorrow and leave Thursday."
"Sounds good to me, I'll email you the details later. Anything interesting happen since you last talked with me?"
"Well I was sick yesterday, I'm better today, just tired and a little disoriented. Anything new with you?"
"Not really, I'm closer to talking Trevor into a puppy, I think I'm gonna get my way with this one."
"Don't you usually win?"
"Of course, but I can't let him know that! Crystal said that she and Dylan might come up next month for a few days."
"That's awesome, I called her last Saturday. I've been pretty busy. I've got to go, I've got to talk to some more people."

"Okay, see ya in a couple days!" She said happily. I hung up and took a look at the last set we were building. The only job left was to fit it with the right equipment for it to look like it was exploding. That would take one team, and half a day. The rest of the teams are already packing and cleaning. My time in New Mexico was over.
I started to pack up my office. I only had a couple folders, pens and other random objects. I cleaned the empty desk and helped clean the set space with the rest of the crew. I got a message from Whitney telling me that my flight out was Wednesday evening.
It was dinner time when I wondered across set to find Chris. I walked around looking lost for awhile.
"Hey, Lucy right?" Someone mentioned gaining my attention. I turned my head and saw Sebastian Stan behind me.
"Yeah, hi" I said awkwardly standing up straighter.
"Are you looking for Chris?"
"Oh yeah, do you know where he is?"
"I think he's over by the medical tent. He said he did something funny to his arm, during filming."
"Do you know where that is?"
"Yeah, I'll show you." He offered turning and I quickly followed after him. He was still in costume, wearing a rugged outfit and hat. He almost looked a little homeless.
"So how is...all of this going?" I asked quickly glancing around at the different tents and trailers.
"It's going pretty well. We're on schedule. I think this movie is going to be awesome."
"Well I have no doubt it'll be awesome. I'm excited to see it."
"I think everyone will like it, oh look there's the superstar himself." Sebastian pointed out at Chris making me laugh.
"Thanks" I headed straight into the tent. A couple people there gave me questioning stares but I ignored them. Chris was sitting in a chair with ice to his elbow.
The way he sat up and smiled at me warmed my heart. "Hey Luce, feeling better? You look a lot better."
"Much" I answered pulling a seat up next to him. "You hungry?" I asked him and he shifted in his seat before answering me. He leaned towards me bit as what we were going to discus was the most interesting topic in the world. He was wearing a tight grey shirt that looked too small. It defined his amazing physic and it was a little crazy just how big he is.
"Yeah, what are you in the mood for?"
"I don't know, you should probably pick. I'm still being careful with my stomach."

"Oh, how about Panera or something like that?"
"That's fine with me. What happened to your arm?" I asked lightly touching it. My hand lingered a little longer than it should.
"I don't know, did something weird to it when I was doing a stunt." I got up from the chair and offered a hand up.
We slowly walked out of set and each person we saw wanted to talk to Chris. I didn't mind, I had no where to be. Plus, I enjoyed spending time with Chris. It was fun meeting his friends.
First we talked to Anthony Mackie and that was a funny conversation. Then we talked to Sebastian again. The last person we talked to was one of the directors.
"Ms. Jones, you have done brilliantly."
"Thank you so much Mr. Russo."
"I'll see you later tonight Chris." He said before leaving us.
I ordered a ham sandwich at Panera. I ate the whole thing and some of Chris' left overs. I was so hungry, and I didn't feel like caring that I might still be sick.
"You're not coming to Cleveland are you?" Cleveland was the next place they were shooting at, it was inly a couple weeks away. Chris was watching me drink my tea.
"No, you're going to be using the city, not a built set."
"Oh" he said disappointed. "You know I never asked how that deal went with Sony."
"It went well, we're signed with them now. I'm glad that whole ordeal is over, that was such a mess. I was such a mess."
"Lucy, thats amazing! I'm so happy for you!" Chris said excitedly. We raised our glasses and taped our ice tea and water together.
The plane ticket for tomorrow burned in my bag. I know I should've told Chris, but I just don't want to come with terms that it might be over. I was scared that our maybe would never become anything other than that. I felt as if I was closing something, maybe I was the only one who felt like that. Perhaps I was the only one who felt the maybe. I couldn't follow him to Cleveland, not with Sony riding my ass like it was. It felt like the end, but, I didn't want it to be.
After a few jokes we head back to set. We land somewhere behind some trailers. I'n facing him while looking down at my shoes.
"Chris, I'm leaving tomorrow." I blurted out. His eyes jumped to mine. "My job here is done, and now with Sony, I'll be working twice as much."
"What time do you leave?"
"Flights at six tomorrow."
"I'm booked up here till at least 8." We fell silent. I didn't know what to say. Part of me just wanted to cut the rope now. I hate dragging things out.
"Ready? I've got to get back?" Chris stood up and offered me a hand. I took it standing up. I expected him to let go of my hand, but he held it all the way back to set.
"Is it to much to ask you to visit me?" He asked me and I melted a little inside. I felt a sad smile spread across my face.
"I don't know Chris, Sony is already riding my ass. I've got a sister down in Akron, but I don't know. I wouldn't count on it. Cleveland's only a week or two them you'll be back in Boston right?"
"No, we go to LA for awhile. I was going to stay out there for awhile. I've got a house down there. I wasn't planning on going back to Boston till the holiday season."
"Oh" That was months without him. My heart cracked. He stopped walking and stood in front of me.
"Guess this is good bye then huh?" I told him looking up at his eyes.
"I guess so, we'll figure it out." He promised me.
"I guess we will. I've got to go and pack. I'll see you later Chris. I'm going to miss you." I smiled teasing him a bit.
"Luce, I've just—" he struggled to get his words out. He forgot his words and just pulled me closer. He reached down and pressed a hand to my cheek. Covering his hand with mine I squeezed it. Maybe one day we'll get there. His other arm around wrapped around me. My heart was beating loud enough for the both of us. He leaned closer and I could feel the ghost of his lips against mine.
"Wait!" I yelled making him jerk back.
"What?"
"What if I'm still sick." I worried and Chris just laughed in relief and pulled me in his embrace again.
"I don't care." He whispered finally kissing me. The kiss was beautiful and powerful, but it was also tentative and sweet. It was everything he was. It was every part of him wrapped into one touch. It was him and it was me.
