Hi again!👋🏼

I know you were secretly wishing you would never hear from me again! Haha well here I am! ☺️

Now the question is why? 🤔 That's an excellent question and I shall do you the honor of answering it!

(You really don't have to. 🙄 We would be fine if you didn't and just left.)

Not a chance! 😁 Now! Through out Mr. Write there are a few references to literature, pop culture and classic films. I figured all those references probably aren't as well known so decided to make you a reference sheet! Yo welcome! 😉

Here it is! A list of all the references and what chapters they are in! Love you tons. Hope this helps explain those moments of complete confusion and questions about my sanity!

Haha well no can answer that last one, except Dr. Spaceman. But he is trapped in a closet right now... so in other terms I'm completely sane! 🤗

Moving on!

REFERENCES!

(Not sure why I yelled that)

Tell me how many of these you actually got! I'm really curious!

(I vaguely talk about what part of the scene the reference is in. If you don't remember than you can just reread the whole thing!)

Cece calls Elliot Watson. She is of course referring to the wonderful side character from the Sherlock Holmes mysteries written by Sir Conan Doyle.

(Cause you know why not? 😉)

Elliot says John Williams when Cece makes a comment about her favorite person. John Williams is a composer. If you've watched Harry Potter, Stars Wars or really any movie with a magical soundtrack he created it. He is also a native of Boston. 😄

Elliot says something about being on the same track as Emily and Jane. She's talking about Emily Brontë and Jane Austin. You probably know them, (Most likely being forced to read their books in school) they are famous writers, Emily having written Wuthering Heights and Jane writing Pride and Prejudice.

(This was a twist on the classic book and let me tell you it is as awesome as it looks!)

I'm not sure if you knew this but Kade and Lennon are actually from the book A Second Chance! Crazy I know! I know the reference was really obscure so I wanted to make it clear. 😉

Sebastian and Amelia are also from one of my books, Every Second. 😋

Cece talks about becoming a nun 🙏🏼 and makes a long list 📝 of things nuns do and it's actually just what nuns do in The Sound Of Music 🎶. A famous musical written by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstrein.

Cece says she would rather face a lion 🦁, tiger 🐯and bear 🐻. This is a line from the Wizard of OZ. Thought I would through it in for fun!

Milo and Elliot exchange a few lines later on about Elphaba, flying monkeys 🐒, a witch and being wicked. This is all playing a joke on the musical Wicked by Stephan Schwartz. (A wonderfully fun musical. I have memorized the entire album. Small note for you!)

Another Sherlock reference because I couldn't stop myself! When Cece calls Elliot Watson and says she sucks.

Milo is talking to Elliot about signing the girl's book and says something about wishing about a star💫. This is a reference to the wonderful Disney film Pinocchio 🤥!

Elliot is makes a comment about Cece getting help from Thomas Paine. This is because Thomas Paine wrote the book Common Sense! (Also I was in a Hamilton mood so I had to put some reference in 😉)

Cece talks about her previous birthday party were they drank a lot of tea ☕️ and went crazy 😝. Elliot says it was the best Mad Hatter party ever. (Or something along those lines) Mad Hatter is a character from Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll which was made into a movie later on. (You probably know the movie more than the book)

Elliot calls Beck, 'Old Sport' This is because that is what Jay Gatsby calls everyone. Gatsby being from the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. (A wonderful book that you should read again when you are not forced to in school.)

(Did you know they've made three versions of this book? 😳😮 Seems a bit extreme to me 🙄)

Milo says something about time running out ⏳and Elliot calls him Cinderella 👠. Of course this is referring to the classic Disney Cinderella movie. Not sure why I even put this one on the list because who doesn't know about Cinderella?

(Which do you like more? The original cartoon or the live action one?)

They talk about an astroid hitting earth 🌎 in eight months and I put that in because I was watching the tv show, No Tomorrow, where that is what is actually going to happen. (I liked the first few episodes but then it went down hill and I never finished it. Just in case you were wondering)

Elliot says the line, 'Luke, I have a bad feeling about this'. This is a classic Star Wars line. And from the old movies, not the new ones, because those can't beat the classics. Honestly how could we do better than Harrison Ford?! 😍 Have you seen that outfit! Gosh, killer! 😂

(Hey! I think my sister has that outfit!😮)

When Cece doesn't know what to say to Milo, Elliot tells her to say something dramatic like 'you would go through a thousand years of pain just for a minute with him'. (Or something along those lines) This is not a reference to anything, instead it's an inside joke. I wrote my sister a chapter where Cece and Milo get back together in a very dramatic, over-the-top way. 🙄No lie it had fog, Cece in a red dress and running towards Milo🏃🏽. I had Milo say the dramatic line to Cece. So pretty much I was just amusing myself like always. (No, that chapter is never seeing the light of day, don't even ask.)

In that list Elliot tells Cece to tell Milo that they will pull a Philadelphia Story and elope to Vermont. A Philadelphia Story is a wonderful movie made in 1940 with Cary Grant (he is a guy, just so that's clear) and Katherine Hepburn. (Two people you have never heard of but were amazing actors.) In it the characters elope, at the beginning of the movie, to Vermont. (If you haven't ever watched it you should, its amazing. Yes, it is in black and white.)

(Cary Grant is the one on the left!)

Elliot talks about being kissed 😚 by Rhett Butler, this is a character from Margaret Mitchell's Gone With The Wind. (A great novel and one I believe everyone should read at least once. Besides Rhett is a total babe 😍 and one of the best male characters in literature, though he is a complete scoundrel!😏)

(The movie is good but nothing beats the book)

I'm guessing you all got the Elsa and Let It Go reference from Frozen ❄️? That song probably got stuck in your head because of it. Sorry about that.

(Isn't that moose adorable! 😂)

Elliot calls Beck Marlowe when they have lost Tristan and Hope. This is referring to Raymond Chandlers' classic private detective 🔎character Philip Marlowe that he wrote a lot of books about. My favorite is a toss up between 📖The Long Goodbye or Farewell, My Lovely. They are both so good and I completely love his way of writing!

Later on Elliot mentions her friend Dante wanting to be a fireman. This is a joke about Dante's Inferno a 14th century Epic poem.

Elliot, Cece and Tristan all make jokes about Tristan's ex-freind saying she-who-must-not-be-named then mentioning Voldermont, which everyone knows is the main bad guy in Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.

( For me I think the order of favorites goes, sixth, seventh, third, fourth, second, first and fifth. But that's my opinion, what's the order of your favorites?)

Okay, this reference I'm completely positive no one got, except @mariajenkins143 but that's only because we process the universe on parallel wave lengths 😉. It was when Elliot says 'if either of you quote Shakespeare, I'm out.' She's referring to the classic line that everyone uses when they know someone likes another person but they are not admitting it. The line is 'The lady doth protest too much, methinks.' It's from Hamlet. (Yup, no one got that. 😬 It's fine. It's a pretty big leap.)

Elliot brings in a box of pastries mentioning something about Sweet Thursday and mentioning her friend Stein. This is a joke because Sweet Thursday is a book by John Steinbeck. It's also a book right next to my chair where I was writing and that's where I got the idea from 😁.

Elliot says something about America not having magic because otherwise she would have gotten a letter. Of course a classic reference to Harry Potter again 🙄.

Elliot says a line about life, the universe and everything. Milo replies with the answer is 42. This is in reference to Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A great series. I was a fan of the first three, the later ones kind of lost themselves. Where they lost themselves I'm not sure but they do ☺️. I definitely get some of my odd humor from reading his stuff.

(Marvin the Robot is my favorite!)

Elliot calls Milo Romeo, clearly making another reference to Shakespeare's classic Romeo and Juliet. I delightful tale where everyone lives happily ever after in the end 💉😵😱🔪💀😮😚😵.

(Who knew William was such a babe?!)

😂😂😂

Elliot puts on a huge hat and Beck asks if they are going to go by coffee, pastries and look at the windows of Tiffany's. He also calls her Holly Golightly. This is referring to Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's which was made into a movie starring Audrey Hepburn. (She is an amazing actress and had killer style) This movie is a classic romance and if you haven't ever seen it then you my friend are missing out! It's also where the song Moon River is from.

(Has to be one of the prettiest people who ever lived)

Milo calls Elliot Zelda and asks where Fitzgerald is. I thought this amusing because Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald were writers and married 😂🙈. So you know it's my way of having fun!

Did you catch that one?

When Cece says 'Milo has discovered-' Elliot and Beck jump in with the lost city of Atlantis and a phantom tollbooth. In both the Disney movie, Atlantis: The Lost Empire and the book The Phantom TollBooth by Norton Juster the main character's name is Milo.

The movie is great and I absolutely love the book because it is bizarre and takes actual phrases and makes them real. Like the island of conclusions that can only be reached by jumping! Brilliant! Such a great book!

Beck asks Elliot if she means Puccini instead of Avicii. I actually wasn't on planing on putting this line in but I told my sister about it and she said I had to. The reason it's funny is because Giacomo Puccini is a Opera composer (He wrote beautiful stuff like Madame Butterfly 🦋and Turandot) and Avicii is an EDM artist. Kind of on opposite ends of the music spectrum. (I completely love the song Nessun dorma from Turandot. It's beyond beautiful!)

Elliot makes the joke about great expectation being a dickens of a problem. Charles Dickens wrote Great Expectations. Which it's an amazing book, his setups and pay offs are brilliant and this has to be one of my favorites of his.

(Masterpiece did an a great version of the book. Plus the guy is cute! 😉)

Elliot talks about going back in time and mentions Doc Brown, from Back to the Future, The Doctor, BBC's Doctor Who character and The Flash⚡️, which is of course a character we all love from DC comics. (Also Grant Gustin plays him and he is beyond words adorable!)

(Come on, you had to know I wasn't going to pass up an opportunity like this! So cute! Aww that smile!🙈)

There are actually two references to Dickens in this chapter. Why do I always go for Dickens? 🙄😳Ummm...yeah I have no clue. Anyway it's when Cece takes about joining Dickens in debtor's prison. This is because he was in debtors prison at one point. Then Elliot says that Little Dorrit will just have to wait. Little Dorrit is a book by Dickens and the character Dorrit lives with her father in debtors prison. SO there you go!

Later on Elliot views her older brothers and sister as the three musketeers but they were never looking for a D'Artagnan. This is a reference to the classic book The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. D'Artagnan is the young boy who joins the tight group of three older musketeers. (It's a wonderful book! I loved it! Though I do warn you it's flippin long!)
