AUSTIN:
"Why do I have to pay like this?!"
"You're not paying for anything. It's just the way it is supposed to be." Dad was just as calm as I was angry!
"But I'm not at any cost letting you do this to me! Marriage's gonna kill me!" yeah that's right. You heard me. I was forced to get married. And to a total stranger.
"Austin!" Dad shuts me up and neared himself he putting his hand on my shoulder. "It's time son... this is our family tradi-"
"Hold up!" I raised my hand to him. "Don't say its tradition dad, 'cause I know our family is no suicidal."
Dad gave a warm laugh on this. He knows it's hard for me but... "Look son. Your great grand father married when he was your age, so did your grand father and me... and so will you." He smiled to me and turned around to leave.
This is not happening to me! For footballs' sake I'm the king of the school!
"If it's a family tradition, why doesn't Paul get to marry before me? After all... he's older than me..." dad stopped where he was. He turned swiftly.
"You know he's dead."
"Dead? Or runaway?" I back fired.
"Shut up Austin!"
"Why? Why is it so hard for you to believe that Paul ran away because of you!? For the same reason you're forcing me to do, and I swear I wont stop... not even to ask if you changed your mind!" I stormed out of the living room to my room.
Mom found me the half way.
"Dear... I totally understand but-" she was about to start her motivation speech.
"No you don't! You call your self a social worker and you're killing me yourself!" I hissed to her and ran up.
Gosh Paul! Why'd you have to run away? At least I'd be not like this.
Marriage wasn't the only reason Paul left. He was a drug-addict. Dad because of his business and mom 'cause of her social work were never able to keep an eye on him.
When they found out about the drugs, dad forced him to rehab and that's when he ran away. Leaving me behind to fulfill stupid family traditions!
I maybe the King of the School... but I'm no king at my home.
I got ready for meeting up some girl. I couldn't believe I was doing this.
We got there for the lunch time. A really beautiful lady opened the door. She probably is the mother. Cool. Beautiful mom means hot daughter.

Our moms and dads were talking when I heard someone running down the stairs making much noise. Damn she was pissed. Good! I smirked to myself. She sure has a humor to do that... in front of the people who are expected to be her in-laws.
"Here she is!" Mrs. Carter squeaked too loudly.
"I'm glad to see you. You're beautiful." My mom said. I had my back to her so I still couldn't see her.
"I'm glad too." She said in the cheesiest manner she could.
"I want you to meet Blake..." mom started introducing and so I thought this was the time to show that I'm really not going for this whole marriage thing. "...and this is my son-"
"Mom please!" I quickly said cutting her in between and stood up. Time to show some pissed off drama. "I told you this won't work! I'm nev-"
I stopped whatever I was saying because when I turned, I saw Andy Carter - the girl I slept with last night standing with my mom. SHIT!
"Andy?? What the heck..." I could only whisper 'cause I couldn't locate my voice.
ANDY:
What. The. Hell!?? My mouth dropped on the floor with my heart and brain and everything that could keep me in the senses, to see Austin standing a few feet away from me.
"Andy?? What the heck..." Austin whispered.
"AUSTIN BLAKE!?" I almost shouted but he didn't even move. Like he was just as stunned as I was. But he was joking!
"You're Mr. Carlson's son! Austin Blake Carlson... I should have known..." I was mumbling to my self keeping my eyes wide open on him.
"You both know each other?" our moms said the same time, shocked themselves. And then they laughed. "Oh that's so great!"
Yeah right! Great!
I slowly stepped to him, mentally slapping myself to wake up if this was a dream. I scanned his whole face, gulping in. Fish!
He looked at me the same way.
"We need to talk..." I could barely say. "...alone."
He just blinked dumbly.
"We would just be in the kitchen..." my mom said.
"In my room!" I hissed and grabbed Austin's forearm and dragged him up to my room.
"Okay!" I shrugged him away from me when we were in the room, locking the door behind me. "What the hell are you doing here?" he still looked strangely at me.
"You're the girl?" I don't know if he asked me if I really was a girl or told me the fact that I am!

"The hell I am! Do I look like a guy?" I was extremely pissed. "That's not what I asked!"
He thought for a second, scanning my face and then said. "Why did you call me a liar earlier?"
"Huh?"
"Earlier. When I kissed you. You called me a liar and ran. Why?"
"Austin! I'm going out of my freaking mind and you're fantasizing about the kiss!" I was damn angry.
"I want to know!"
"Damn! Because I thought you lied to me about that marriage thing just to get me in your bed!"
"Why would I joke about something so serious?!" he said seriously.
"You knew it was me?"
"The hell if I knew it would be you I'd never have fucked up with you!"
"Great! So we don't want this... lets go tell them. I mean... you and me? I mean C'mon! People really need to get their brains in their heads!" I was so relieved. I turned around to leave but Austin grabbed my wrist, turning me around so bad I almost fell on him.
We stood real close. He was looking down at me, straight in the eyes. He smirked. This isn't good!
"What are you smirking at?"
"You..."
"Austin let go! We need to tell them." I hissed to him trying to free myself.
"I don't think I should..." he smiled, brushing his tongue on his lips just making it more tempting.
"What!?"
He smirked in return and freeing my wrist he wrapped his arm around my waist and dragged me out of the room and downstairs to the living where our parents were still talking about us probably.
Our moms gave a wide smile when they both saw us like this.
"Let go Austin. They're getting it wrong!" I hissed to him but he didn't listen. Instead he smiled to all of them and cleared his throat to say some thing. O boy! What is he gonna say.
"We've decided... after a really thoughtful discussion that..." nice. Just tell them we can't do this. "... We're ready to accept each other as husband and wife for the rest of our life."
WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST SAY AUSTIN!
Our moms squeaked and hugged each other with wows and oh my gods...
"Are you out of you're freakin' mind!" I hissed to him punching him on his back, trying to get out of his grip.
"Now sweetie... don't be such a wild cat.." he smirked at me. "I couldn't just say no when I'm getting a sex-machine..." he smiled evilly letting go of me because my mom was all over me.
"Oh honey I'm so glad you're getting married! I can't believe it!" she was saying, hugging me so tight I couldn't breath.
"Mom... I'm running out of air!" I whispered to her. She backed away making way for Mrs. Carlson to come in and do the same.
Austin just stood with his dad grinning at me. He's such an ass.
"Let's celebrate. I've made just the perfect lunch for this!" my mom finally said dragging me out of awkward moment.
I sighed in relief. I guess Austin saw that because when I was about to slip he quickly slipped his arm around my waist and dragged me to the dining room. What. The. Hell!
"Why did you just do that?!" I whispered to him, trying to keep my voice as low as possible.
"I told you. I just couldn't say no... when I'm getting a sex-machine." He pinched my hip, making me jump. and I remembered i'd told him to go get married to some sex-machine, which unfortuantely turned out to be me!
"Do you think you are smart enough to get me just like that? Well for your record... I'll make you so miserable youill back off yourself!" I hissed to him when we sat at the table together.
Yeah! Just from now on... we'd be together... where ever! Urgh!
"I'll make sure I enjoy every bit of that..." he smirked and gave a pure evil smile. Jack-ass!
Lunch was so damn hard because Austin keep brushing his hand on my leg making me uncomfortable.
"I think you should pack your stuff honey, and get ready to move in with us, today." Mrs. Carlson said as soon as we were done with the dessert.
I literally choked. "What?"
"We've planned the engagement ceremony next week and we want you to move in with us today. It's going to be great."
"But.. I.. uh...." I CANT MOVE IN WITH A LOSER! I felt like ripping my head off. You are marrying him... remember! You'll have to live with him forever!
My mind shouted loud at me. What is it I am in?! Urgh!
"I think I'll just wait till the engagement. I'll move in after that." I said sweetly. Austin hand froze on my thigh.
At first they were all confused. But then Mrs. Carlson stood up, walked to me and kissed my forehead. "what ever you feel like. We've got a whole life with you..." she smiled.
Austin smirked the whole time till they left. I bet he had something dirty in his mind!

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
