《His Midnight Angel》Chapter 20

(Alexandra POV)
Do I? Do I believe him? Can I believe him? His kiss still lingered on my lips. Electricity coursed through my veins at his proximity.
"I don't know Jack... I really don't know..." I sighed.
I watched as his face fell. When he looked up at me I saw hurt. And anger. He was so close to me all I wanted to do was reach up and touch his beautiful face.
"How can you not know!? Please Alex! I can't do this anymore. I can't keep fighting this. I know you can feel it. I know that. You can't hide it from me. You can't hide anything from me. Alex I love you. I know it's to soon. I know these are not the words you want to hear. I know. I know I've hurt you. So so much." He pleaded with me.
"Jack. You don't know anything. After I left, I found a home. I found a home in Michael's arms. He's the one that held me at night, told me sweet nothings. I got lost in his touch. I wanted to forget. Forget everything. I wanted eternity in his arms." I said softly. I was staring off the side of the cliff. I wanted to disappear. I wanted to solve all of this crap and just disappear.
His face remained blank.
"For so long I was comforted with the thought of a mate. I didn't care who it was. As long as they could take me away from here. From you." Jack flinched. But I just kept on going. "You were my tormentor. My enemy. And then you were my mate. You were supposed to be my love."
My wolf was prancing around in my head.
"And now I'm begging for another chance. Can you give me that?" I looked into his multicolored eyes. I saw so many emotions. Hope, fear, anxiety.
Can I give him what he wants. Can I let down my walls just to let someone who hurt me in?
Legend yelled.
A second chance... A second chance. I finally got that. I had friends and a family. I was finally happy. After so long I was happy...
"One more chance." I said quietly. Surprising both of us. His eyes lit up. He opened his mouth to say something but I had turned away. I walked to the edge.
"Alex?" I caught her scent!
Guys I got her scent! Meet me at the waterfall! It was faint but it was there.
"Listen if you screw this up I'm done. No more second chances. No more me. I'm going home with them." Wolves suddenly ran up to us. They all shifted behind trees. Daniel came up next to me and smelled the air.
"I got her!" He said.
"Ok let's go get her."
My eyes caught with Michaels... I wondered if he had talked to Ashley. Ashley and Tom were standing behind Daniel.
We all shifted and ran in the direction of the scent. It was a race to see who got there. I led the pack. The scent led to an abandoned building, it was really run down and you could tell that it had been abandoned for a very long time.
I phased back. I stared at the building long and hard. Why aren't there any rouges? I turned back to the others.

"Ok here how this is how this is gonna go." I started " Margo your with Josh. Jack your with Jessie. Daniel your with Tom. Ashley your with Michael."
" What about you?" Said Jack.
"I'm taking the sky. Margo and Josh you guys take the north side. Daniel and Tom take the south. Jack and Jessie , you two have the west. And Ashley and Michael take the south."
"What do you mean you got the sky?" Said Tom Confusion lacing his deep voice. I unfurled my great big wings. Everyone jumped back. Trying to avoid being hit with them.
"I have the sky. What ever you do, get to Alexis at all costs." And with that said I took off into the sky. I landed steadily on the roof. Soundlessly almost. I looked back and saw that the others had disappeared. I looked through a window on the top and saw someone pacing. The window was opened a crack so I could here bits of the conversation.
"Why are you going this?!" Said a small frightened voice.
"Let me ask you something Alexis. Have you ever been rejected?" The other voice was defiantly male. And British.
"No. I'm only fourteen. I haven't even found my mate yet!" Alexis said exasperated.
"Well I have. It's not fun. When you get rejected you feel... Worthless. And stupid." The man went on. " I had a mate once. Back in England. She was a wolf. But she rejected me, simply because I was a weak pathetic human."
The man lifted his face toward the window. The sun shone directly on his face. Oh no...
Troy.
My mate... How long had I dreamed of finding him? Simple never. He wasn't quiet what I was expecting. With his stark white hair and stark white skin. And big blue eyes... Stop! I love Jack. Bile rose up in my mouth with the thought of that slut Alex kissing him. I had followed him out to see where he was going... When he kissed Alex I lost it. He knew I was there too. And now we're trying to save a pathetic little girl who got lost in the woods.
I looked over at Michael. So beautiful...
"So..."
"What?" he said harshly. Ouch.
"We haven't properly introduced ourselves. Hi I'm Ashley." I said extending my hand.
He didn't even look at it. Seriously. What's wrong with him? I voiced my thoughts.
"What's wrong with me?!" Michael looked incredulous.
"Come on baby. When were done we can have a bit of fun. I can ease all that tension." I started seductively. Growing up I didn't have many friends. And then we moved to the pack. I forced my way up the ladder. Sleeping with any guy who wanted me. I became good at it.
"Are you sick?" He said harshly. "You didn't wait for me. Sure I'm no saint either. But I didn't sleep with a new girl every other day."
Ok that stung a bit.
"Now shut the hell up. We're waiting for Alex's symbol." He waited a bit and then...
"Come on let's go." We phased my small blonde wolf looking even smaller next to his big maple colored one. And with that said We crept up slowly toward the house.

Strange.... No rouges. But that didn't mean there weren't other things. They came out of no where. Shadow like creatures reaching toward us. Ashley tried to fight them off, but all she could grab at was air. They ripped down on us. One shadow managed to get hold of my neck. My air ways were assaulted as it squeezed.
It was agony. I couldn't breathe, my lugs were screaming for air. And then just as black dots started to cloud my vision it released me. I took gasps of air, gulping it down like water. They were retreating to the center of the building. I ran after them... Wait! Ash. I turned around and saw her following.
We ran after them. We ran into a clear room. Big and almost empty. There were two people talking in the center. I saw Alexis in a cage. Who was that the man she was talking too?
I jumped down from the roof after I signaled the others. Troy looked surprised for a second.
"I see..." Troy said. "Hello Alex."
"Troy" I said back.
"Long time no see."
"I suppose."
"Tell me. Are you stupid? Or are you just brave?" Said Troy. He snapped his fingers. Shadow like creatures with beady red eyes came at us almost immediately. They stopped short at his command.
"Drop them."
Margo and Jessie fell at his feet. They were beaten up. Blood covered Margo's face. Bruises ran all the way up and down Jessie's arms. Her face was bloody and she was going to have a black eye.
I went to rush toward them but my path was blocked by the Shadows. Their beady eyes were drilling into me.
"I don't think so." Said Troy chuckling.
"Troy your just a human. How is this possible?" I said cautiously.
"Alex. Alex. Alex. Why do you always make assumptions?" Sighed Troy. "I'm not human. Don't you remember? Your own Sister?" By now the others had joined us. All beaten and bloody.
Sister. I had two of them. Adelphi and Artemis.
"Adelphi..." I remembered. "And Artemis."
"Yes. My mother." He said confidently. "Has been waiting for you."
"What?!" I said startled. "That's impossible."
"What? The creation of life? Yes Adelphi is my mother."
I looked at Troy closely. I didn't really remember my sisters. All I knew was there names. I did know that Adelphi had done something bad. Really bad. I remembered now.
I was walking down the hallway towards my sisters room. Adelphi had been acting odd lately. I just wanted to make sure she was ok. Artemis had really upset her. I knocked hesitantly on the door. There was no reply. She must be meeting a lover... Still I entered her room. It was dark. The curtains were closed. Candles illuminated the dark room. A four poster bed stood against the wall.
"Adelphi?" I called out. Still no reply. There was a door on the other side of the room. And a little light coming out from underneath the door. I walked to the door in quick strides. It was unlocked. I opened it slowly. There were stairs. Leading down into a dark room. I walked down slowly drawing my sword. My long black hair tied back.
I heard a slight groan.
"Please! Stop. Stop please no more! PleasAHHH."
A deep voice cried out in pain. I snuck up behind a box and hid there. The room was interesting. Test tubes littered the counters. Books lined the walls on the other side. There was a table in the center of the room. A man with tan and light hair lay on the table.
"Oh hush now!" Adelphi's voice rang out, "it'll hurt more if you fight it." She whispered seductively. She started chanting a spell. The man screamed out in pain again. Slowly I watched as his body turned to black smoke. It didn't stay that way. His form switched from solid to smoke.
"Ugh! Why won't you stay!" She cried out exasperated.
"Please! Stop!" He cried out in agony. His body was writhing on the table.
"Why?! It's always Artemis! 'Artemis can create' 'Come now Adelphi why can't you be more like Artemis' that was my childhood. My mother always favored Artemis. And father never got the perfect son he always wanted so he trained Alexandra to be a perfect warrior. Do you know what that's like?" She said viciously. "Always coming in second place when your the eldest?"
"N-no..."
"We-"Adelphi started but I had had enough.
"Adelphi." I said. She whipped toward me. Her dark eyes staring at me in shock. Adelphi had high cheekbones and dark black hair. Her skin had darkened considerably around the eyes.
"Sister." She said.
"What have you done." I whispered in horror.
"Oh relax he's not dead!" I didn't want to hear it. I rushed toward her. Adelphi wasn't skilled in battle so I was able to overtake her quickly. She lay unconscious on the floor. I tied her hands to the leg of the table. I helped the man of the table. Together we walked up and out of her room. I dropped him off in the infirmary, and then rushed to Artemis. Her silver hair was floating down her back.
"Artemis... We need to talk."
I stared at Troy in amazement.
"Ah you remember now."
"Yes. I remember." And with that I unfurled my wings and took off toward him. He cried out, the shadows rushed me. But I flew straight threw. No way was I going to listen to this boy tell me this story. We locked in combat. He was Surprisingly strong. He threw me against the wall. I felt dazed and disoriented. Oh hell no! He went to throw a punch but I dodged it. I jumped down to the floor and swiped his feet from underneath him. He fell and hit his head against the corner of the cage. He hit the floor with a thump. He was out cold. The Shadows disappeared almost instantly after his head hit the floor.
"Ok let's hurry up!" I said quickly. "Daniel get the girls, Josh help. Tom and I will get Alexis. Michael and Ashley cover us." And with that we left.
Leaving Troy knocked out on the floor.

After falling through a rather unexpected crack in the universe that spawned under his bed, Alex finds himself in a world filled with monsters and magic. Now instead of worrying about SATs and college applications, he only has demons, magic and rips though the very fabric of the universe to occupy his mind. Quite a bit easier in his opinion. This story has abuse, trama and brushes breifly on suicide. I`ll try to include warnings on chapters that deal heavily in any of those.
