《His Midnight Angel》Chapter 16

(Josh's POV)
As Alex walked away I slipped away to follow her. I followed Alex in to the woods. She walked and walked. Stopping only the tie her shoes. She looks like she's in her element. I thought.
She stopped suddenly at the base of a cliff. I could barely see the shine of the water. I turned away. It's funny she would choose to come here this was infact where our mother died. I knew she didn't kill our mom I just didn't want the people bullying her to start bullying me. I was gonna be the beta. Alex was an omega. Enough said. Now she's training our pack.
I turned back just as I watched Alex disappear over the edge.
"No!" I ran forward only to see that something had caught her. Now she was shooting up. Something had her. No wait. I squinted to see that it was her. Alex had wings. I watched as she soared up and up. She flew off into the direction of the pack house. She was so high up now she looked like a bird.
I stood there frozen on the spot. She had changed so much. Her hair was always so frizzy. And now it's long and straight. And by long I mean it went down to her butt. Then I thought about Jessie. She was mine. But she avoided me like the plague. My wolf was constantly whimpering. Just by looking at her you could tell she was a fire cracker
Suddenly Alex came shooting back. My eyes following her in wonder. She was doing dives. And she shooting this way and that way. Almost as if she could forget her troubles. Just by flying she swooped down then touched back down on the ground.
Her eyes meeting mine. Her expression was one I had seen several times in her lifetime.

Horror.
"Josh." She sighed.
"Alex." Awe shooting through my eyes.
"No don't you dare start acting like you care." She said mad as all hell. "Why did you follow me?"
"I just wanted to talk. I was gonna step out of the forest but I was to wrapped up in my thoughts" I explained not blinking.
She rolled her eyes. She walked past.
"Wait! Alex please." She stopped and turned toward me.
"Josh. Your my brother. We were close but you abandoned me." She pulled up her sleeves. " I didn't know what to do, when you left me. You joined the masses all because of your reputation. And that was what hurt the most. Because you cared more about your reputation, than you cared about your sister that was getting beaten and bullied everywhere she went."
I felt a tear slip down my face.
" slowly I started to feel my emotions fall. And I didn't know what to do. I only knew I couldn't feel. I did all of this to make myself to make me forget the pain you and everyone else in this place made me feel. I won't tell you what happened. But I had to make sure I could still feel. Still feel something."
I was such an idiot.
"Then I found Michael". A small smile was playing at her lips. "When he touched my hand I could feel again! I went to college. Me, Jessie, and Margo. We're on our senior year, you know. And there is this insufferable boy who won't leave me alone! But I'm loyal. Loyal to Michael like none of you were."
"Alex, there is nothing I can do to make you forgive me. All I can do is say I'm sorry over and over and over until you can look me in the eye and forgive me. I know you know Jessie is my mate. I won't do anything. I won't even so much as look at her until you forgive me. So I'm saying Alex I am so so so sorry. Sorry for our dad. How he treated y-"

"Josh look at me." I did, she had a small smile on her face. Her face that looked so much like our mother.
"Do you know why I have these wings?"
"Umm you ran into a big bird and its genes melted into yours?" I asked hopefully.
"No. You know why."
Everything clicked in at once.
"Your the Midnight Angel." I said "You're going to fight the dark ones. To protect everyone you love. Who's the warrior?"
Alex suddenly went very serious. She looked much older than her 20 years.
"He has forgotten." She said solemnly.
"I see." Jack.
"Yes anyway I forgive you but I don't trust you."
My smile went from ear to ear like a Cheshire Cat.
She started walking and I fell in step next to her. We were just talking about random things. When we got back she was laughing so hard the people at the bonfire were looking over at us weird. When we got there I sat down next to Alex. Who sat next to Jessie. Who looked like a red headed fairy princess.
"Guys this is my brother Joshua jay Black."
"Il est de la famille" he is family.
