《You're Not My Boss // Jaehyun Mafia FF》➸ CHP 37

"Hyuna," Mark whispered, "Pass the flashlight down"
"Alright, here" I replied quietly.
I'd been on a mission with Mark and Jaehyun for the past hour, since Taeyong sent us to go check out one of my dad's warehouses. Doyoung had been researching my dad's business locations, and thought the place we were at now would be the best place to "ambush" my dad.
It took us a while, but the three of us managed to get onto the property without setting off alarms or being spotted by security cameras.
We were at the hardest part right now: doing what we came to do. We had to see what was going on inside the building.
For now, Jaehyun and I decided to fasten a rope to Mark's waist, and lower him from the roof so that he could look through the windows on the side of the building.
"See anything?" Jaehyun whispered to Mark, as he tried to hold his grip on the rope.
"Not yet," Mark replied, "Lower me a bit"
Jaehyun rolled his eyes and started lowering the rope.
"Hurry up, slowpoke!" Mark whisper-yelled at us, "We don't have all night!"
"Take a chill pill" Jaehyun said, "If we drop the rope, we drop you."
We all went quiet again, and waited for anything from Mark.
It'd been a hectic night. It was dark and cold outside, plus it had rained an hour ago, so everything was wet, too. The only things I said to Jaehyun that night, or really any night for the past four days, were short, small things along the lines of business.
I stared at Jaehyun as he held his grip on the rope. He just stood there, without saying anything, and biting his lip and he tried his hardest to not drop Mark. Since it was dark, I couldn't see him as well, but I watched him anyway.

"Alright" Mark said, "Bring me back up"
Jaehyun nodded. He slowly pulled the rope towards him.
When Mark got his two feet back on the ground, he started unfastening the rope around his waist and sat down.
"What'd you see down there?" I asked as I handed him a water bottle.
"The usual," Mark opened the lid to the bottle and sipped on his drink, "No security guards, no people at all...just a couple security cameras."
"Were there any lights on?" Jaehyun asked.
"Nope," Mark replied, "Just the exit lights, and that's it"
"That's weird," Jaehyun said. After a few seconds, he turned around and paced further away on the roof top from Mark and I.
I shot Mark a glance, and he did likewise.
"You'd think," Jaehyun walked back towards us, "That there would be people here...especially since Doyoung said this was the location where all the mafias met up"
"Maybe Doyoung's theories were wrong," I suggested.
"Doyoung's never wrong about these things," Jaehyun looked at me, "He might not know how to defrost frozen veggies in the microwave, but he's spent the last month researching all this...his research has never been wrong"
"Wel,", Mark stood back up and looked at Jaehyun and I, "We told Doyoung that we'd tell him what the building was like, and we did. So, lets go home"
Mark slung his backpack over his shoulder
"Wait." Jaehyun said, "We also to Doyoung that we'd get the information we needed, and we didn't get much of anything just now"
"And by that you mean...?" I asked.
"I'm saying we should try to get inside and check it out," Jaehyun replied.
"The inside?" Mark asked, "Bro, I'm hungry. I wanna go home and eat something"

"That can wait," Jaehyun glared, "Look, there's an evacuation door right here", he pointed down at a metal door placed in the floor of the rooftop, "We can get in through there"
"We don't know what's under that, though," I said.
Jaehyun pulled a crowbar out of his backpack, "We will in a minute"
I wanted to tell him he was being reckless, but he lifted the miniature door open before I could say anything.
"Whaddaya see?", Mark whispered as he looked over Jaehyun's shoulder.
"Nothing...", Jaehyun replied quietly, "...Yet"
We all stood there staring into the part of the empty, dark building we could see from where we were.
"Ok, Mark, you go in first," Jaehyun said, "Hyuna, you go second; and I'll go last."
Mark and I just nodded. Things started to feel more realistic; my heart was pounding out of my chest, my hands we shaky and my palms sweated a little.
When it came to be my turn, I grasped Jaehyun's hand as he helped lower me into the building. When I glimpsed at him for a split second, he smiled a little.
"Got it?" Jaehyun asked me when my feet touched the ground.
"Yup," I replied quietly, "Your turn"
We tried not to talk too much, because even though the building looked like it was empty, there was always a chance there was someone there.
Jaehyun was able to get himself in without any help, so when he got inside, this night was officially off to a start.
"Alright, where do you think we should start?" Jaehyun asked Mark and I.
Mark turned his flashlight back on, "I saw a light at the end of the hall...lets go check that out, first"
The rest of us nodded and let Mark lead the way.
For some reason, Jaehyun and I stayed a little further behind Mark.
"This is our first mission together, huh?" Jaehyun said to me in the dark.
"Yeah..." I said under my breath. I didn't really say anything after that.
I heard Jaehyun take a little breath in, "Look, I know its been crazy for the last couple days," he said to me as he shone his flashlight around, "But lets enjoy this while we can"
I looked at him. I couldn't find any words so I just stared at the ground and kept walking.
"Guys!" Mark looked us us and pointed to a room which had the lights on.
We all stayed quiet, but tip-toed closer to the door to see what was going on.
"I'm the one who wants to kill Hyuna," someone inside said, "But I'm also the reason Hyuna's still alive"
I took a quick look at who was talking.
It was my dad.
"Sir, we already have the plans the take care of that," a random businessman replied.
"Yeah, and what does that mean?" my dad glared.
"All the mafias are ready to take care of NCT whenever you want".
"Oh?" my dad sighed, "Why not just do it tonight then..."
"But sir-"
"You said you all were ready, so lets do it tonight. We have no more time to lose"
Jaehyun, Mark and I stared at each other with wide eyes.
"We've got to get out of here," Jaehyun said to us.
In a split second we all started sprinting for the way we came in.
