《Back To You (#3)》CHAPTER 21: Back To You

"Brownie?"
My whole body froze on hearing him call me that.
This can't be possible.
He can't be--
I turned around, Eve was standing there with tears rolling down his eyes. He had my pineapple yellow colour tiffin box in his hand.
Those deep blue eyes.
How the fuck I didn't notice it before?
A small sob left my mouth. Before I knew it, tears were falling down my eyes just like him.
We just stood there, crying and staring at each other not believing if everything is for real or it's just a beautiful dream.
Slowly, he took a hesitant step towards me. His feet wobbling.
My hand covered my mouth trying to control my sobs and his steps faltered.
His hands were shaking when he stood close to me, his eyes focused on the tiffin box.
His voice shook. "Th-this belo-ngs to you. I-I... couldn't give it b-back. Thank you for the sand-wich...it was delicious as always."
He lifted his gaze and looked at me, I was a crying mess. I took the tiffin box from his hand and kept it on the counter behind me and hugged him tightly.
Wrapping my arms around his torso I buried my face in his chest and he hugged me back tightly wrapping his arms around my body and placing his chin on the top of my head.
We both broke down, crying our hearts out.
"My little Brownie", he crooned making me cry harder.
Five minutes passed and we were still standing in the same position, still crying, still hugging and holding each other tightly afraid of letting go.
Hesitantly he pulled apart, just a little bit but I refused to let go of him. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and with my face still buried in his chest, he walked us to the living room and sitting down on the couch made me sit on his lap and I immediately wrapped my arms around his neck and hid my face in the crook of his neck.
His fingers gently stroked my hair, the other hand around my waist. None of us said a single thing, the silence and the tears spoke for us.
"My little Brownie?" His voice was low and soft and still cracking because of crying.
I lifted my head from his neck and with his hand that was still shaking, he cupped my cheek and rested his forehead against mine and closed his eyes ad tears fell from his eyes.
"I searched for you so hard", he whispered in a rough voice. "You were right beside me all this time yet I couldn't find you."
"I am here now", I whispered.
He pulled back a bit and watched my face through the tears, the tiniest of smile forming on his lips.
I wiped away his tears with my fingers. "You are crying...are you not happy to find me?"
He chuckled and sobbed at the same time. "I have never been this happy."
Wiping away my own tears, I placed my head on his shoulder. "Eve...you left me then. You went away. I was so worried about you."

"I am not leaving you ever again."
I smiled to myself feeling satisfied.
"What happened after you went away? I was so afraid thinking about whether your uncle fulfilled his promise or not."
"What do you think?"
I looked at him. I did meet his uncle, he was sweet. Eve is a billionaire now. It means...
"He fulfilled his promise", I said.
"He did. He promised us a better life and he did give us a better life. He didn't break his promise; he supported us at every point of our life. He was setting up his own company, he was busy with it so he never gave attention to us but he repented it later. So, as soon as his company gained success, the first thing he did was call us to him and he did everything to make up for his mistake." He explained.
"When he fulfilled his promise, it filled me with so much joy that I vowed to myself to never break a promise", he added.
"You promised to marry me", I reminded him.
"And I did. But I never knew who you were exactly."
I lifted my head. "You said no matter which part of the world I am in, I will always find my way back to you."
Smiling he leaned his forehead against mine. "Yes. I found my way back to you."
He kissed my forehead. "It's ironical how everything I promised to you I fulfilled without even knowing who you are exactly."
I sighed. "Why didn't we ever ask each other's name?"
"That was and will remain a mystery."
I trailed my fingers down his face. "I am so proud of what you have become, Eve. You hardly had anything to eat and now...now you are one of the richest person in the world."
He smiled softly. "All thanks to uncle and a little bit of Gareth's and my hardwork."
I chuckled but then a sob escaped my mouth. I still can't believe this.
Seeing me cry, the tears fell from his eyes too. Our eyes fell on each other's lips.
With quivering lips we slowly leaned closer and closer until our lips met making my heart skip a beat.
The tears made the kiss salty as our lips moved leisurely against each other. His fingers held my neck and my fingers tangled in his hair.
His tongue traced my lips asking for entrance which I gave willingly and our tongues danced together.
My hand trailed down his hair onto his neck and down to his chest and under his T-shirt as I slowly traced my fingers over his abs.
With a groan, he got up wrapping my legs around his torso and without removing his lips from me he carried me upstairs.
My lips moved down to his jaw and down to his neck where I pressed kisses all over his neck.
Carrying me to his room he placed me down on the bed before standing in front of me breathing heavily. I was about to protest at the loss of contact but he quickly pulled his T-shirt over his head and throwing it on the floor got on top of me and covered my mouth with his again.

His lips trailed down to my neck where he sucked my skin making me moan. The dress which I wore had an off shoulder which gave him more access to give me hickeys all over my neck and shoulder making my back arch in pleasure.
Then with a groan he pulled back, his hands on either side of my head and his body hovering mine; his eyes a much darker shade of blue.
His voice was low and husky. "Aeryn, do I have your permission?"
He didn't need to ask, I loved and trusted him more than anyone else.
"Yes." I breathed out.
"You sure?"
I nodded quickly and grabbing his face collided my lips with his giving him the permission he needed.
.
.
.
I woke up to find my face pressed into Eve's chest and our legs tangled together. The feel of the duvet brushing against our naked body reminded me of last night and I blushed hard.
Eve was still asleep, I shifted my body a bit upward to come face to face with him.
His face looked so relaxed and even though he was asleep, he looked satisfied and at peace.
Leaning closer, I pecked the tip of his nose, then pecked both his cheeks, his forehead, his eyelids, and then his lips.
As I leaned back after pecking his lips, his mouth twisted into a slight smirk.
"That's a nice way of waking me up, brownie", he said with his eyes still closed.
A blush crawled up my neck. "Is it?"
He opened his eyes and pecked my lips. "Yes."
"Are you feeling okay?" He proceeded to ask.
"Yes...a bit tired though."
He smiled mischievously. "That's a sign as to how much you enjoyed last night."
I smacked his arm. "Shut up."
I tried to detach myself from him but he groaned. "Where are you going?"
"Do you keep forgetting I have a restaurant to manage? And you have an office to go to."
He groaned deeply. "Let's take another day off."
"No. I am going to my restaurant and you are going to your office. End of the story."
I found his T shirt on the floor and I wore it, covering my body from his lustful gaze.
"Then you will have to make it up to me tonight", he said as I walked to the door.
"I'll see", I said playfully over my shoulder.
.
.
.
I was closing the restaurant when an Aston Martin stopped in front of it.
The door opened and Eve stepped out.
I hung my purse over my shoulder and walked to him. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to pick up my wife", he answered with a grin.
"Your wife already has a car parked over there", I said pointing towards the Audi he bought for me.
"Don't worry. I'll tell my driver to drive it back home. You come with me."
"Okay", I said and sat in the passenger's seat.
Starting the engine he drove away.
"Did Carmel have dinner?", I asked him.
He sighed. "Gareth took her out for movies."
"You are saying as if he took her out on a date."
His face grimaced. "No! In a friendly way of course. As they say, they are best friends."
I chuckled but then realised something. "Movies?! She has school tomorrow!"
He rolled his eyes. "Exactly. That's what I said too but they didn't listen to me. Before I could say anything they both ran away."
I sighed.
A few minutes later he stopped the car at the side of the road. At a distance was an ice cream truck standing.
He gestured to it. "Ice cream?"
I nodded excitedly. "Yes."
"Which flavor, my queen?"
My queen.
"Umm... vanilla."
He nodded and left the car. I watched him from the car buying ice cream from the truck.
A moment later he came back with a double scoop of vanilla in a cone and chocolate for himself.
Before entering the car, he said to me through the window. "Wanna take a walk?"
I smiled. "Sure." He opened the door for me and I stepped out and he handed me the ice cream.
Since it was getting late at night, only a few cars were passing by. We started walking on the footpath, our fingers were intertwined while the other hand held our respective ice creams.
I rested my head against his bicep while licking my ice cream.
"How was your day at work today?", I asked him.
"Boring. And yours?"
"Tiring but fun", I answered.
"If you are tired we can go home", he suggested.
"No. I don't want to."
"As you say."
Soon, our ice creams finished and he stopped walking making me halt to.
He faced me. "I need to show you something."
"Okay...", I trailed off not knowing what to say.
His hand dug to the back pocket of his jeans. And he took out a small rose gold colour jwellery box.
"I bought this ring a few years back hoping one day when I will marry my Brownie, this will be her wedding ring", he explained. "Since now I have found you, I want you to accept this ring."
"Eve...I already have a wedding ring." I lifted my left hand to show him.
He took my hand in his and removed the wedding ring and slid it down my middle finger.
"There", he said. "It's not a wedding ring anymore."
He opened the box and I almost gasped looking at how gorgeous the ring was. "Will you accept it?"
"Yes", I said softly.
He smiled widely and taking out the ring, slid it down my ring finger. He lifted my hand up to his mouth and kissed the ring and then my knuckles.
"I got it designed especially for you", he told me.
I looked at it and then at him. "I love it. It's beautiful."
He stared at me intensely. "Just like you."
I bit my lips to stop myself from smiling like a fool. "Thanks."
Cupping my cheek, he kissed my forehead lingeringly and then pressed his lips upon mine.

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
